No way do you gain 6 levels without leaving a zone, though.

Wow, it's finally over! This must've been the longest one yet. Now I have to struggle to remember what I was originally doing back in August when I started reading this.

On my machine the saved files sit in the Documents folder.
Edit: yes I am talking about Vista.

Exile 3 has the option 'make game easier (monsters much weaker' but I don't think there's anyway to make the Exile games harder.

Also, with the mouse click thing, note that in Avernum it's left-click to move 2 spaces, right-click to move 1 space.

Postscript: only for Avernum 1, Avernum 2 & 3 are different

It's sad to see the end of the old topic :(

I just read Century Rain, most enjoyable. Also trying to get through a backlog of Accountancy Magazines (snooze...)

Scope of Ethics in General

The question leaves me nonplussed. If ethics have a scope, it seems to me it allows one to pick and choose to do whatever one wants while remaining "ethical". I was always of the opinion that speaking of e.g. "medical ethics" or "business ethics" really referred to the application of ethics in general to a particular field.

I do like Randomizer's quote about situational ethics, though. :cool:

The wall to destroy is in the _northwest corner_ of the dungeon. If you cross the runes, you've gone too far, and he will kill himself.

Hmmm well of course I remember the dubious Beadle's About and You've Been Framed, but I was actually a bit surprised (and impressed) with his charity work.

In other news, I was also saddened to hear that Miles Kington has died. C'est un unhappy chose, mais at least il a inventé une langue très belle.

Just install it and play. It only says pre-vista because the games are not supported for vista.

The eyebeast's control room has a way to switch off the fields, if you have sufficient mechanics and living tools.

Harry Potter 5, and the Bourne Ultimatum, were good. Spiderman 3 and the Simpsons were less good. That is all I actually watched.

This poll is fun. But even better is the Tullegolite family tree. Which, being on lain on its side, was presumably cut down at some point...

Edit:
After clicking on Slarty's link, I found it amusing to compare two of the previous censuses:

What class in geneforge 4 do you think is the most powerful or most useful? in Geneforge 4: Rebellion
Agent
Member # 2759

My choices:

1. Lifecrafter / Shocktrooper; because shaping is the most powerful skill. Geneforge is really very easy played as a shaper. Shocktrooper is much the same but with slightly different tactics.

2. Infiltrator; magic is bloody useful, the only thing that holds it back is constantly running out of spell energy. Unless you cheat and give yourself more essence pods...

3. Servile / Warrior; four games later, melee is still rubbish.

Should we be able to create the Unbound and new high level creations in geneforge 5? in Geneforge 4: Rebellion
Agent
Member # 2759
Profile Homepage #4
The entire point of the unbound is that they can't be controlled. That's their raison d'être.

text1 = "You stare at the bound creation. It stares off into
space, frozen. The energy field surrounding the creature holds,
controlled by the control panel behind you to the east. You examine
it at your leisure.";
text2 = "It is a drakon, but unlike any you have ever seen. It
glows. Powerful heat radiates from it, enough that it would probably
burn you if you touched it. Whoever created it filled it with all
the pure, uncontrolled power they could.";
text3 = "And, as with all Shaping, there was a trade-off. In
return for power, they gave up sanity. They have followed the same
path as Shaper Monarch, but with far greater resources and skill.";
text4 = "This drakon is unbound, free of all the controls normally
put on creations. It is a pure weapon, designed to unleash
uncontrolled havoc wherever it is placed.";
