Problems with sending graphics to the Louvre in Blades of Avernum

When exactly did the problem occur? If it was when you converted the image to whatever format you sent it in (Should have been GIF or JPG) try a different format, or converting the image with a different program.

If you sent your graphics in some other format, and the colors shifted in the posted version, Brett may have converted them. In that case, you probably should have converted the graphics yourself.

Couple minor problems:

Orb Pillar shows up under Monster instead of Terrain.
Glow Gems 2 is not showing up as Animated Terrain (It does appear under Terrain)

You send them to Brett's e-mail address. It's bxb11@psu.edu

Yes, you just rename the files.

I'd list which ones were by which person, but that's really up to you. (As I said, nothing requires you to give credit at all. It's just a good idea.)

Color swapping? in Blades of Avernum

Yes. Actually, the program I use is effectively freeware. (Technically, you can register it, and theoretically get a better version, but there isn't much point to registering. It's painful to try doing anything other than color shifts with it, but it works well for that.)

The program is called EasyPEG. I don't remember where I found it, but a search should locate it with no difficulty.

Yes, and it is generally considered courteous to give credit. (I don't think there's an actual requirement, but you should give credit where neccessary. Most people put a list in the scenario readme file.)

No offense taken. I'm not a good artist, so I leave the more complex work to those who are.

Probably will work, you just won't get a good death animation. You will have to move the outdoor images to the correct position.

"Mars, just stay out of sight, okay?"
"What about you?"
"I at least have some knowledge of the rudiments of disguise. And I'll still be staying out of sight. I hope."
"Why?"
"Because if I'm not staying out of sight, it means I'm doing something visible. And if I'm doing something visible, then something has gone wrong. And the same is true for you."

What kind of designer are you and how serious are you about designing? in Blades of Avernum

Have at least started three scenarios. (Four, if you count the one I threw together to show my younger brothers how to use the editor.) Only one actually released, and it isn't that great. (Read: Don't bother playing it. It isn't worth the time.) One of the ones I've started will probably end up being turned into a BoA scenario - I can't really finish it in BoE at the moment, due to the dissappearance of my notes, my current lack of access to my copy of BoE, and an intermittent shortage of free time.

BoA Items in Blades of Avernum

Moonblade: Damage is in the wrong format. Use the A3 format. Having an item give more than one bonus AP can be a problem.

Sun Shield: Erm. What's this +5% to immunity? Min. damage block is high.

Rain Plate: Yipe. Too powerful. Much too powerful. Cut the damage block down (1-50 would be reasonable)

Sky Helm: Min. damage block is too high. +2 AP & +5 to DEX is ridiculous. Either alone would be excessive, together, it's just ridiculous.

Now, a general comment. Scenario design should drive item design, not the other way around. Given that, the value of presenting items as stand-alones is minimal.

First part could technically be done, but it would probably require editing default graphics - Not generally a good idea.
As for the second part - Maybe, maybe not. I wouldn't count on it happening.

Few items I missed in that check:
Crystal boxes are under Items - Should be terrain. (They can be used as items, but that would require placing them in smaller panels.)

Crystal Box thumbnail does not appear.
Green Priest 2 link is broken, as is the thumbnail. Checking what I've sent, I think the problem might be related to the fact that I've sent to different graphics with the same name, one an NPC, and one a monster. The monster one does show up.

I'm going to try to remember to indicate what type of graphic each image is so you won't need to guess in the future. Might be a good idea to add that requirement to the submission form.

Great job, just a few comments:
Flame Vent, not Flame Event

Vahnatai Runes and Barriers are actually both
sets of animated terrains (The vahnatai runes are actually the runes in the game, just removed from the associated floor pattern, and with several color swaps.)

Potion racks should be includable as is - They're simply modified bookcases, and the bookcases work with no problems.

Lava Pit seems to have started appearing under NPC - May have been there before, not sure.

Purple Spirit Warrior is also appearing under NPC - it's a monster graphic.

Sword Emblem and Ogre Statue are terrain graphics, not items.

OOC: Uh, RH, just out of curiosity, when did I pick up a bow? Firedrake's nephil had one, but my character has never been an archer.

IC: "Wrong spell. Again."
"Uh, what were you trying to cast?"
"Any sort of defensive spell. Didn't particularly care what at the time."

'The spell finished. Now we have a lich to deal with.' Namothil dropped one of his swords, drew his dagger, and threw it at an advancing skeleton's foot. Bones shattered, but the skeleton maintained its balance. Namothil picked up his sword, and lunged for the skeleton. He sensed an energy bolt coming too late to dodge, but managed to parry it... barely. Stumbling back, he struck out at the advancing skeleton in desparation. The blow connected, and the skeleton came crashing down over him. The next bolt splintered the skeleton rib cage, but left him untouched. 'Need to keep moving. Can't be a target. My senses are fading. Can't track magic well anymore.'

OOC: Current hostile status: 4 (Maybe 3, if the one Lethalis crashed into is out of action.) Skeletons still active. One (Maybe two) lesser necromancer(s) still living (Not sure if Wise Man killed one in his last post.). Leader is now undead.

'Parry... slash... What? NO!'
"The spell is almost complete! Kill the leader, now!"
Namothil lunged forward, and one of the lesser necromancers broke away to meet him. One went after Wise Man, leaving two to block Lethalis.

OOC: Mars is fighting one, LF is distracting one of the two blocking Lethalis. The leader is not fighting yet.

Back IC:
'They only need a few more moments. Have to work fast.' He slashed through one staff, and then a weird greenish light blazed up from alcove around the room. Eight massive skeletons stepped out. Giant skeletons. 'Wonderful. At least that banshee should still be out. They shouldn't be able to summon another one quickly.'
A sword-stroke finished off the necromancer he was facing, and then he had to dodge a stroke from one of the skeletons. 'No time for this.' Namothil dove forward, slashing at the legs of the two skeletons closest to him, and shattering them. They collapsed in a pile of bones, as he turned back to the main battle.

OOC: TGD, there are two groups attacking the rival ring's base - Lone Flame has one, Lethalis has the other. You were with Lethalis's group, until he got annoyed with you when you woke up a monster that we really didn't need to fight. (Hint: When someone says 'move slowly' that means 'move slowly' NOT 'Blast whatever happens to be ahead')

Oh, and please, drop this 'Atlantis' fixation.

The party reached the necromancers' chamber without further incident. Pausing outside, they prepared to attack.
Lethalis asked, "Namothil, can you manage some sort of bless or haste spell?"
"You're joking, right? Getting that silence spell right was a minor miracle. I'd rather not push my luck, even if we are facing someone who can summon banshees."
"Then on the count of 3. 1...2...3!"
The door smashed in, revealing a large, murky room. Eight necromancers were standing in a circle around a ninth, chanting loudly.
"Lich ritual. We need to break it up, now!"

OOC: TGD, LF is off on his own segment of the assault - if you're with the group hunting necromancers, you can't be helping LF.

IC:
"Not exactly. You just had to wake it up, didn't you?"
"What? What is it?"
"Banshee. I hope you can cancel sound. Wise Man! Lethalis! How are you at resisting banshee wails? I'll survive, but won't be able to do much, unless I try a sound-dampening spell."

OOC: First point - Fighting is not always the best solution. Don't be too eager to blast everything in sight.

"Excellent idea, for the rest of you. I need my swords, and, having only two arms, can't wield a torch with them." Namothil waited as torches were collected and lit, and then the group proceeded deeper into the fortress. After a few minutes, he held up his hand. "Move slowly. There's something in front of us. Not sure what, but it isn't good."

OOC: He was supposed to be dead at the point when you posted. Certainly not in any shape to work magic. Having your throat slashed open and then being set on fire does produce serious problem.
Uber-powerful : Extremely powerful. In your case, skilled melee fighter and skilled mage in one person.
OOC: Out-of-context or Out-of-character, depending on context. Here, it means Out-of-character.
BTW: By the way.
No, I do not expect you to know everthing. I do expect you to make some effort to learn. You've been repeatedly told about these high-powered characters you're playing as. It's not as big an issue here, but, given your history, I personally would be a bit more comfortable if you'd tone it down a bit. Give yourself some odd disadvantages.
For example, my character does have a reasonably large repertoire of spells. Some of them are even useful. There are two problems. One, most of those spells aren't very useful. Two, he can never remember which spell produces which effect.

OOC: TGD, if you'd been paying attention, you would have known that the necromancer was dead. Second, there really is a problem with having someone suddenly show up. Specifically, if you look up a bit, you'll note that my character is the sort of person who is accustomed to random people sending demons to kill him. Given that, how do you think he'd react to the sudden appearance of a demon? (Has not reacted because I have been ignoring your posts.)
General advice: Do not have an uber-powered character. You're new to RPs like this. Start small. It really is a good idea.

IC: The ghasts finally collapsed under Wise Man's assault. "Alright. Now for the necromancers. Split up, or stay together?"

Namothil slashed another claw off, and took the creature's legs off with the second stroke. "We're wasting time. We need to get to the necroma... Look out!" He shouted as Wise Man dodged a bolt of energy, and turned to face the new arrival. A tall, dark-robed man stood in the doorway. The skull mounted on his staff glowed with sinister energies.

"I think we've found a necromancer. Apprentice, most likely. Keep those ghasts back." Namothil lunged forward, parrrying a bolt from the necromancer's staff. "This is my prey." A swordstroke splintered the novice's staff, and then the return tore out his throat. "Fire, quickly!"

'I've been too used to demonologists. Should have bought a shock enchantment. Ice is useless against undead.' Namothil slashed a hand off one of the corpses. 'Which raising did they use? Probably not zombies, they're too weak for what I'm sensing now. Ghouls? Maybe...' A slashing claw slipped past his guard. Only a light scratch, but he felt his arm stiffening. 'Ghasts. Why did it have to be ghasts? Not enough to paralyze, but I'll have to be careful.'

"Don't let them touch you. They're ghasts!"
