How about some of the most interesting scripts from VoDT? Oh, and how about a ton/more screen shots of beam projectors and how they're used in the supplied scenarios, etc.? On the game side, that is. There is no 'objective' to Furcadia, and that's what makes Furcadia so much better than all the other MMORPG's out there. If you want to RPG, you can, but if you don't, you can go on Furcadia and not RPG either. Furcadia is a game that never ends, and the point of it is to have fun, make friends, and be constructive. Just visit some dreams, it's fun. -------------------- Blades of Avernum Script Archive - Submit your script now! Posts: 612 | Registered: Saturday, October 13 2001 07:00 |

Ah, finally. If you need somewhere to host images, you can use Freewebs (http://freewebs.com/) or Geocities (http://geocities.com/). There's also Angelfire (http://angelfire.com/) and Lycos (http://lycos.co.uk/). Or, if you want me to upload them to my server, email them as an attachment to webmaster@devever.net, then AIM UWHugo telling me you've sent me screenshots. Note: **please** convert screenshots to PNG, JPG or (if you have no other choice), GIF. It will reduce download size considerably. Anyway, I'd like to request the following screenshots: -- Things that are better/different in the new VoDT & Small Rebellion, The Tutorial, and the one new prepackaged scenario. -- The beam projectors, and what they can be used for. Finally, thanks. You're keeping us alive while we wait for WinBoA :P [ Monday, March 22, 2004 02:08: Message edited by: So Old, So Back... ] -------------------- Apparently still annoying. Hmm..if the 8.1 upgrade doesn't work on it's own, they seem to have 7.0.1 full there - you could probably download that and then run the upgrade. -------------------- Apparently still annoying. Posts: 612 | Registered: Saturday, October 13 2001 07:00 |

Considering we windows users are horribly unlucky right now, is anyone going to post a huge amount of screenshots of the scenarios and such anytime soon? quote:There is no such thing in Furcadia except for FurN (r-rated area) which you can easily avoid. If there wasn't FurN the "yiffers" would go into the non-R maps, so FurN is good. It keeps the "yiffers" away. ADOM? I seem to remember that from ages aog. -------------------- Blades of Avernum Script Archive - Submit your script now! I've set up a better one.. IRC Knowledgable People, Connection Information Host: irc.eu-irc.net:6667/default #spidweb How do I chat? Get a client. Try... XChat (free), MIRC (30-day), HydraIRC (free) I have to download this horrible client to chat? That sucks! No, it doesn't. By downloading a client, you; Get something that is faster and more reliable than a web-based clientGet more features than a web based client could ever provideGet access to a chatroom system with a huge number of access controls, options, preferences, flags, settings, and more, allowing you to customise your chatroom to the last drop.Fine, how do I connect? First, get and install a client from the above list. Then start the client up. There should be a window visible that has two panes. The upper is the larger, which consists of whatever people are saying, and the lower consists of a textbox in which you type what YOU want to say. Focus on this window (it's probably 'inside' another window). If you're using any decent IRC client, it'll focus on the text box automatically. Type in the following into that box and press enter: /server irc.eu-irc.net It should start loading and connecting to the server, which shouldn't take more than 15 seconds. If it doesn't, you need to look for a 'connect to server' option in your client, select it, and enter as the host "irc.eu-irc.net". (You don't need to worry about any 'port' settings, just don't change that.) Now you've got connected, you need to instruct IRC to join the 'spidweb' channel. Do this by typing in the window: /join #spidweb You should join the spiderweb channel and you can now chat. (to chat, just type whatever you want to say and press enter. what others are saying appears above the place where your typing appears). http://furcadia.com/ You can make your own worlds, (people have made trains, planes, airports, spacestations, starships...), comes with it's own powerful scripting language. There are only 2 things: 1. Ignore Fur. 2. Ignore R-Rated area. If you ignore them, it's a really nice game. Seriously. -------------------- Blades of Avernum Script Archive - Submit your script now! *coughs, and dust circulates around him and falls to the floor.* I don't know. I was thinking, perhaps a 'token-based' chatroom would be more suitable. The process works like this: Around 5 hand-picked administrators are chosen to hand out 'tokens'. These administrators give out tokens (which are small lengths of text, somewhat like passwords. We could make them meaningful, like AOL's, i.e. "BUTTER-GHIRKIN", or meaningless, like "dh83klj2Y") to anyone they determine to be suitable to enter the chatroom. Anyone who recieves a 'token' can enter the chatroom. Anyone who does not recieve a token can not enter the chatroom. Tokens can be 'revoked' whenever the administrators feel like it, providing an excellent ban system if someone turns into an annoyance. As the only way of getting into the chatroom without a token, there is effectively no way to get round the ban (which is pretty much the same as never getting a token in the first place). Or, should you want to use IRC (the advantages being excellent access control), it also becomes quite simple. By setting the +i flag on an IRC channel, only those who are invited to join the channel can join it. Those who are not invited to join the channel can not, but they can 'knock on the door' using the knock command of IRC. IRC also has a +k "Key" option, meaning only those with the correct password can get in. Another thing? it isn't free. 2. GCC is good. Get a cygwin environment and set up a good gnu tooled environment on it. Use something like vi to edit your code, then compile it with GCC or G++ or something. If you can't understand that,C++ is not for you. 3. If you don't want to install a ton of stuff, you might want to reconsider programming. 4. It's called google - search for what you don't know where to get. 5. You might find IRC a good resource. Freenode is a server dedacated to open source p[rogramming. Get an irc client (try http://mirc.com/), connect to: irc.freenode.net. You can list all the channels by typing /list, join a channel by typing /join #<name>, and you set your nickname by typing /nick <name>.
