You know Jeff, making it say "the editor executable (.exe) is in the Data folder" would probably fix it a bit better. :) Also, I find the placement of the Editor in the Data folder illogical. I'd rather be able to place it in the main BoA directory. [ Thursday, June 17, 2004 01:35: Message edited by: Grey-Eyed Stranger ] -------------------- Apparently still annoying. Yes, this is a problem. The best you can do is find the appropriate files using a resource editing tool on BoA itself, but you have to subtract 1 from the resource key shown I believe. -------------------- Apparently still annoying. Posts: 612 | Registered: Saturday, October 13 2001 07:00 |

I believe simply backing up the appropriate .dat files of the games is sufficient to keep your code. I never figured out why Jeff uses the regcode system he uses now though. I'd have thought a regcode-generated-on-name system would be better. e.g. Registration Name: Somebody Nowhere Valid Registration Code based on Algorithm from Name: DFI-34821 etc. It would put less work on Jeff, at least. Baldurs Gate 2. NWN, never played, but I'm not too big a fan of fancy-pants 3D graphics. BoA - after BG2, yeah. But the editor, like you say, is terrible. It's flattened. You have to keep BoA open and keep reloading the scenario just to see what you're doing. It's like drawing in a big fog. Also, Bioware has Interplay's support too. -------------------- Apparently still annoying. Posts: 612 | Registered: Saturday, October 13 2001 07:00 |

How did TGM get his hands on the source? (No, I am not asking for the source.) Methinks he just worded it badly. The message icon sheds no light on the subject and the fact that he provided a bogus email does not mean the post contents is false. Spiderweb software is the only shareware company I support. I believe they make and sell software the right way. I don't support any other shareware companies. Spiderweb -deserves- the money, as they make outstanding games. I'm rather disappointed to see people crack BoA, with all the effort that went into it. It's not much to ask. Don't bother with all those commercial editors. The reason Jeff's Script files look weird in notepad is because Windows uses \r\n to symbolise line breaks, while UNIX-based systems (?and Mac?) use \n for line breaks. \r signifies carriage return, \n signalises line feed. (I might have mixed those around.) A small bug in Notepad (or clever coding from Microsoft, to try and stop people coding with other platforms :P ) is that it only recognises line breaks as line breaks if they follow the \r\n format, and not the \n format. So if you open a file using just \n for line-breaks, you'll see squares. Windows: Instead, I reccomend Metapad, which is an improved replacement for notepad, free, and not bloated. Or, if you want tabbing, try Shalom Text, another free editor. http://www.danish-shareware.dk/soft/stxt/ http://www.liquidninja.com/metapad/ I myself use both, depending on what I need. -------------------- Apparently still annoying.
