Where is it? An FAQ says it's southwest of fort draco (or something like that), but I can't find it.

I have a lot of cards that don't work anymore... Plus a student card, a photocopier card, a library card, Turku Science Fiction Society membership card, an ID and a couple of euros.

And a few old bus tickets. Sometimes I write things on them when I'm in bus and bored.

It should work, if you have the scenario in the "Blades of Exile Scenarios" folder, open the Blades of Exile program, next click "Load Game" (or alternatively "Make New Party") and then click "Custom Scenario".

I hope it's not different on PCs...

Nethergate. I like its graphics more, and there are 6 party member slots. And it's not a remake. And I like its story and atmosphere better.

Suomalaisia? (Finnish)? in General

Juu...

Finnish is an example of an agglutinative language, which is part of the reason why it's hard to translate with a computer translator.
Also, we can write our spoken language very differently from our formal language - more than English speakers do, I'd guess.

It's the "Serpent Cult" cave a little north/northeast from the Tower of Magi. Downstairs.

will the war ever end? in General
Shock Trooper
Member # 1249

No, the war is endless, you will never get me. :P

Well, a little more seriously...

It started with a declaration, but if ending the "war" requires one, it may never end except if the political leadership officially gives up, because it's not possible to eliminate all terrorists (and besides, who's a terrorist and who isn't, is a problem itself).

On the other hand, every political leader seems to define War on Terror according to what best suits for them.

EDIT:

Whether we will die or not depends on how far some political leaders are willing to escalate the war.

(Although we all die eventually. It is the tragic history of mankind: every past generation has died.)

Hurricane Katrina in General

I, too, have read that some people didn't have any means to leave, no car etc.

Some news neglect to mention this, for one reason or another. You easily get the picture that they chose not to leave, which is misleading.

The Asians didn't have time to prepare for their tsunami. The US and New Orleans had time to prepare for Katrina but I'm amazed at how little preparations they seem to have done.

Canada and Russia both have a working mass-transit system, as far as I know (correct me if I'm wrong), and they are pretty big countries.

If there were no trains, buses could have been brought to evacuate people already before the hurricane. Instead, everyone was on their own and those who couldn't leave were just directed to a stadium.

I hope not many more people die before all are evacuated.

And zero tolerance on _any_ looting when people are starving? That doesn't sound very bright.

Hypothetical Time in General

Difficult but interesting questions. What would be reasonable in my opinion:

A) A's family should have the right to demand it back (if not too much time has passed since the theft), but they should also pay a reward to B's descendant.

B) I'm not sure. Depends on how much time has passed since the auction etc.

C) No.

D) No.

I don't live in America but I live to the east from America, if you look at the world map that's used most by the western countries. Therefore, I chose "east side".

I haven't ever been to America, though I'd like to visit the southern part of it, at least. (Or possibly Ecuador, since one of my friends is from there.)

Do you like school? in General

I like university, except for a few language classes, which were so boring that I (literally) fell asleep. I just have been there so long that I'd like to graduate already, but I have to be here at least a couple of years more.

In Finland it's relatively easy to change one's major (or main subject). It requires in many cases only doing the basic studies of both. I started in Computer Science and I'm ending up in Sociology.

I have attended some classes with about 100 people or more - in sociology and statistics courses, and the minimum has probably been 15 people so far - in creative writing, a minor subject which limits the amount of students with an entrance exam. It has also been the most fun, sort of, but they don't teach it as a major in my university, so I can't graduate in it.

Showering in General

I think about two weeks without shower has been the maximum for me, but that wasn't recently. Recently I was on a ten days' trip to Norway on a bus with about 35 other people. There was no shower where we were accommodated. One day some of us, not all, went with the bus to a place where we could wash.

When we went back to Finland (and Sweden), the bus smelled very bad.

Then there is the circumstances. According to an article I read some while ago, the largest factor explaining how good grades kids get at school in Finland (it was about high school level kids) was mother's education level according to a study. Last year the same study got same results.

"Greed is also precisely why Marxism will never work in a large society. The average human slob will only care about his or her own self (i.e. greed)."

Hmm... The same argument could be used against capitalism, as a reason why we must take create some kind of a mechanism in order to prevent powerful greedy people (i.e. the capitalists) from taking too much surplus value (if that was the right translation) from poor people's wages.

Mmmm, well you need a pretty old computer for that (Definitely System 6, but I think it can on some versions of System 7).
There was a freeware version of it on the net a few years ago. It's a version that Ray Dunakin had improved. I have it and it works - on OS 9, at least. It's just the sounds that don't work. It's not a bad tool at all.
