games really don't take up much space on the computer, especially if you know how to maintain it. i'll talk about my computer and give a little advice: - i have 2 partitions: a larger main one, running on Win2k English, and a smaller backup partition running on WinXP Chinese. trust me, dual-OS helps, i remember half a year ago when i deleted some dll's on Win2k by accident and couldn't boot at all. luckily for me, having a second OS allowed me to back up my stuff on CDs before formatting the computer. - i've used up about 8 GB out of 25 GB on my main partition so far. even for a big-time gamer like me, my games only take up 3.5 GB. (my entire HD is 40 GB) - if you have limited RAM like me, maximize its efficiency! i have 256 MB RAM (trust me, this isn't a lot for a gamer). disable all the task bar icons (the ones on the bottom right) you don't need. - download Ad-Aware from download.com and scan your HD and RAM with it. trust me, this helps. the first time you run it, you'll never expect how much spyware and crap is clogging up your HD and memory. - run a virus scan on your computer once in a while (i do it once a week), or better yet, set scheduled scans. make sure the scan pattern is constantly updated tho. - clean up the HD! depending on how large your HD is, if you have so little space left, chances are you don't need two thirds of the crap on it! decide what you don't need, and delete the stuff (don't just delete to Recycle Bin, delete the stuff altogether!) - if nothing works, i'm afraid formatting is necessary. hope that helps. -------------------- Polaris - owns you. yep, it's definitely time to format your computer. and i agree with TM. extreme frustration does not merit excessive exclamation which occupies more horizontal area than that of 1024x768 resolution. EDIT: oh, and how can i forget about the inability of 11-year-old boys to keep their computers 'clean' and 'efficient'? i'm referring to the software BTW. Shadow Wolf cloaked himself, then snuck up behind a blademan and killed him. Gynia then fired off an Ice Bolt that narrowly missed another. Five of the Vahnatai surrounded SW and eventually cornered him. All five struck at once... To find all their waveblades somehow stuck inside SW's right arm (OOC: SW is left-handed). Thank goodness I wore my enameled bracers today, he said to himself. The Vahnatai looked at each other, puzzled, before being roasted by Motrax's dragon fire. As it triggered all the runes, the party followed close behind. By the time they made it through, the water elemental had dissipated from the barrages of energy bolts. IC: Shadow Wolf was trying to catch some much needed sleep when he saw Firedrake practising with his sword. "I see you wish to be a blademaster," he called. "How could you tell?" he inquired as he approached. "Because you're trying to imitate the physical skills of a real blademaster," Gynia answered before Shadow Wolf could. With a small jump, Shadow Wolf got up and drew his sword. The slender blade made very little sound as it was removed from the scabbard. "Ah, the stealth of the Silentstriker. But that is not the point of why I called you. Strike at me, Firedrake." FD thrust his sword at SW, but the blademaster parried the weapon with ease. "A good try and strong strike. Keep trying till you hit me." FD then attacked SW with his sword many times but never managed to touch him, always barely missing, or had his blow parried or dodged. Then, when FD thought he had SW out of balance, he swung at him for a finishing blow. SW dodged it, and knocked FD's weapon off with a kick to the wrist. SW sheathed his sword, then picked up FD's and returned it to him. "Now, what have you learned here?" asked Shadow Wolf. "You're good." "With almost two decades of experience and skill, it's only natural. I must tell you now, a good blademaster does not strike with brute force, but rather he relies on speed, control and precision. Just swinging at the enemy with all your might can work sometimes, but not if your enemy has at least some form of physical fighting skill. An attack with brute force often slows down your attack so that it can be parried easily. However, swift strikes often deal less damage on their own, but you will be able to strike multiple times before your enemy can react. OOC: this battle should end soon, but you never know... By the way, many of Shadow Wolf's abilities are anti-mage, some specifically meant to ... harm them. IC: After taking a firebolt square in the chest, Shadow Wolf got up and detected something trying to sneak up on him from a dark side cavern. He leaped away from a lightning bolt one of the beings fired at him then threw a wave of shurikens. The mage was struck in the arm, but the other shurikens were parried. Three Vahnatai warriors emerged from the darkness and quickly surrounded Shadow Wolf, waveblades pointed at his throat. "Don't think you can beat the Wolf so easily," Shadow Wolf half-chuckled, then Phase Shifted himself, to find himself just behind one of the warriors. He gave him a fast kick in the back, knocking him into the other two. "You'll be dealt with later." Shadow Wolf regrouped with Gynia, dodging spells and drake fire along the way. "How are we supposed to fight the drake lord, if we're possibly the only two willing to fight?" Shadow Wolf half-shouted, stumped (for lack of a better word). "We'll have to drown him," Gynia suggested. "Do we really have to?" "Yes." "Damn." Gynia cast a flurry of ice shards at the drake lord, not doing much damage but allowing Shadow Wolf to slip through and get behind him. He leaped onto his back and entangled the drake lord's head and neck in several glowing cords of energy (Soul Cords). Summoning all his inner power he pulled the cords back, holding his head in place. "Hurry up!" the blademaster shouted. "I can't hold him all day!" After reciting the spell, Gynia spun the staff then pointed it at the drake lord's head.
