RW created Ocean Bound and Galactic Core as well as the universe. I believe I understand now where things like quantum mechanics, general relativity, and platypuses come from. —Alorael, who is actually somewhat surprised the universe works at all. Things work, they just aren't all that entertaining or spectacular. Ocean Bound, Galactic Core, and the universe. I wonder if that was the order he made them in. -------------------- Take the Personality Test! Deep down, you wish you were a stick figure. We're living in The Universe 1.0.0, which was its initial release. We're just waiting for the patch. Unfortunately, since Chromite Software (the "front" company for Richard White's Universe Creation Department) went belly-up things are in a bit of a mess at the moment, what with the next version of reality being repossessed by the bank until Chromite's debts are paid. Lawyers got involved soon thereafter. Like I said, messy. I told RW that if he hadn't put off releasing the 1.0.1 patch, he wouldn't have to deal with seized assets and lawyers, since banks and lawyers were two of the things that were giong to be removed with the next update. Another unfortunate aspect of The Universe 1.0.0 is that due to a slight error in line 6,432,766,349,448,872,395,334,773 of the source code, Richard White accidentally imprisoned himself in his own creation. Though he is not strictly bound by its physical laws, he must maintain a degree of "nativeness" in order to avoid litigation. And at this point he needs to keep every cotton-picking New Zealand penny he lays his hands on. Posts: 907 | Registered: Monday, July 15 2002 07:00 |

So now, when we reach Forum number 6,432,766,349,448,872,395,334,773, Richard White will be able to free himself from the prison that is earth, and get to work on Universe 1.0.1. -------------------- I'll put a Spring in your step. Posts: 2396 | Registered: Saturday, January 29 2005 08:00 |

No, not exactly. When Forum 6,432,766,349,448,872,395,334,773 arrives, it will be the materio-psionic manifestation of that error in our universe. Once it has materialized, RW will be permanently locked out of the source code, and only Forum 6,432,766,349,448,872,395,334,773 will be able to make changes, propogating the original error out of proportion to transform all of Time and Space into its plaything to torment for all eternity. It is the harbinger of inescapable doom, not the instrument of our salvation. [ Friday, October 14, 2005 21:35: Message edited by: Icshi ] Posts: 907 | Registered: Monday, July 15 2002 07:00 |

However, this requires that he first creates a memory overflow by opening the six septillion four hundred thirty-two sextillion seven hundred and sixty-six quintillion three hundred and forty-nine quadrillion four hundred and forty-eight trillion eight hundred and seventy-two billion three hundred and ninety-five million three hundred and thirty-four thousand seven hundred and seventy-second forum and spamming it with the same number of posts. It remains to be hoped that this backdoor to the code remains unclosed; otherwise the universe will segfault and be replaced by something even more bizarrely inexplicable. I doubt that's as relevant as it should be, but it does show how easy it is to add the forum. [ Wednesday, October 19, 2005 18:37: Message edited by: ben ben ] -------------------- -ben4808 Posts: 3360 | Registered: Friday, June 25 2004 07:00 |

It won't have the real effect unless the preceding indices are filled. Now you're cookin'. That is, you would be if there was enough diskspace. Too bad. It has been running for all eternity, since the Dawn of Time And when it finishes, the apocalypse will be upon us! What, you cannot see the forums that are already there? Are you sure you're not confusing it with a servant mind? I know there's a servant mind or two responsible for all implant emissions, but we're not feeding them. They have specially trained spoon/ferrets for that. —Alorael, who doesn't want to talk about the aborted fork/ferret project. Good lives were lost that day, and the other */ferrets are still touchy about it. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

Those poor unborn fork/ferrets, alas. In retrospect it seems an obvious mistake to have ingrafted the forks in utero, but hindsight is always 20/20 if you have rear-mounted outplants. But the shiriken-enabled */ferrets eventually emerged, so the project was not a total failure.
