Amazing how much this annoys Scorp. What, too unconventional?

It would seem lately that other people are proposing more modding than Drakey has actually done. :P

What's a Canadian wedding like? Does the bride (Scorp, I presume?) wear flannel?

It's like an American wedding, only without the eventual divorce.

A slight aside:
Is gay marriage legalized anywhere in Canada? Or do they have some sort of civil union counterpart?

They're thinking of legalizing it now. The same way they're thinking of legalizing cannabis. I think.

I think gay marriage is legal in Vermont in the US. Several states have things like marriage, but not.

Vermont and Hawaii both have civil union cermonies, but they are not recognized as a legally binding marriage anywhere else. Here in Mass they're trying to pass a law that describes marriage as only the union between a man and a woman. How progressive.

When I'm eighteen, the first thing I'm going to do with my new civil rights (which don't apply to minors) is start lobbying for gay marriage to be legalized in PA.

Granted, I probably won't make much of a difference, but at least I'll be able to say I tried.

You know, the one thing I never understood was how anti-gay activists ( ) are always claiming that gay marriage, or even homosexuality in general, is going to "damage the traditional family structure" and other such idiocy. What, do they think that married gay couples are going to break into the homes of righteous Republican citizens and demand them at gunpoint to divorce? I absolutely fail to see how homosexuality is hurting anyone. Live and let live, and focus on your own darn family.

I think that Thuryl explained this.

Marriage earns you certain tax breaks - in effect, the government is paying you to get married. This is because a married couple of opposite genders is usually going to produce children who will eventually grow up and add to the population and production of the country.

Thuryl explained it better than I, though.

Many gay couples adopt. I don't see very strong reasoning even for the marriage tax breaks.

—Alorael, who also thinks that many gays would be perfectly happy to get all the rights of marriage minus tax breaks for civil unions. They would prefer to get the whole thing, but complete legal indifference to homosexual couples is ridiculous.

Well, even if they DO adopt, they're still not producing children of their own.

Even if they're not producing, they are potentially giving a home and future to a child that may have otherwise ended up on the streets being chased down by the police.

AHAHAHAHHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHA I FIND THIS TOPIC HILARIOUS!!!!!!!!

Budding relationship, indeed.

I agree about the word "homophobe", Alorael.

The rolling eyes thing was meant to be just that: Scorp rolling his eyes.

RoR: There are PRACTICALLY no RIGHT WiNG CONsERVaTiveS Here! What's up with the capitalization?

Also, what is a mangophobe? And if it's just what it seems to be, WTH?

I think the Bible is more than a book, but I don't use it as some sort of shield. have I ever met a gay person?? I have a friend who is a lesbian, and doesn't try to hide it or anything. I disagree with her, but that doesn't mean I hate her. Similarly, I have friends who smoke pot, protested the war in Iraq, etc. I don't know where you all got the idea that the idea that the only friends I have are just like me. Harming people? Ummm I openly say homosexuality is bad, and that's it. I don't throw rocks at gay people or anything... and my religion happens to include other people, whether they agree with all of my beliefs or not, so if you think I should just ignore people who go against my beliefs, you're wrong. In fact, this idea is your belief, and you're trying to impose it on me. I don't argue about your right to do that at all.

Mindspark, some people have the idea that people publicly reject and criticize homosexuality because they themselves are gay and are trying to cover up for it. That would be like me going out on the street and yelling "God doesn't exist! Sin like crazy!" but whatever... I guess maybe it makes sense somehow...

Oh yeah, and TM, I COULDN'T CARE LESS.

Gay marriages have just become legal in BC, which is where I live. Also, I must also point out that yes, I am infact not dating Scorp, but have a quite long term relationship with a female. This does not mean I hold anything against homosexuality, infact the MAJORITY of my friends are infact homo/bisexual. 10% of the world's population is infact homosexual, so it is amazing in my mind that there is still so much hate for it in the world. Then again racism is quite rampant as well. I mean look at the genecide in Congo and what was once Zaire. 8 million people dead since 1999. Why does no one hear about it? Because it's Black Africa, and the United States isn't gonna be going into interfere with them anytime soon. Until they discover they have oil.
Ahem...End Rant Now.

Also, while I do not agree that people who are homophobic are just repressing their own blatant homosexuality, it is very amusing to tell that to people on oh...let's say Battle.net. It's fun to see the long silence of the idiots who were just going on and on about "OMG YUR A ****** YOU GAY YOU NOOB" when you pretty much say 'lollllll@ if u say ppl r gay ur gay'

I searched for mangophobia, and the only site I found was this:

Spooky Mangos

It seems to suggest that mangophobia is the fear of mangos *lol*. I don't know if the term has a serious meaning, but if it does, it's not on the web.
