Probably couldn't be done directly, but if the monster was stationary you might be able to do extra damage/bad things to characters standing on one side of it.

Feran, even the Oxford English Dictionary says that failing to use the subjunctive mood is no longer considered a grammatical error. Get over it.

Everyone cares less about curse words than you do. :P

Seriously, I met an American once and he told me that the thing that surprised him most about Australia was that profanity in movies wasn't censored over here.

It's only any use for killing things if they're already very low on spell points, though.

I suppose a classic example of what you seem to be looking for would be "O Fortuna" from Carmina Burana.

I've noticed that people who tell everyone to ignore karma always have karma of 4 or 5. Why is this?

Sure it would. It's pretty easy to maintain your beliefs if you're convinced the world is conspiring against you to make sure you'll be ignored. After all, if everyone who disagrees with you is evil, it's easy to disregard their opinion.

There may actually be at least one somewhat respectable reason for a government not to recognise same-sex marriages. Being legally married can entitle one to certain financial benefits, such as lower taxes; it could be argued that these benefits are intended to encourage people to marry and thus have children, who can go on to contribute to society. Gay couples (with the exception of a few lesbian couples who choose assisted reproduction) are unable to conceive children, and the government therefore has no reason to bribe gay people to get married.

There are, of course, plenty of objections that could be made to this argument, and it gives no reason for homosexual activity itself to be banned. Nonetheless, this is a point of view with at least some validity. In some ways, it might be most satisfactory for all concerned if the government stopped giving official recognition to marriages altogether.

The writer of the article knew and worked with Mother Theresa on a regular basis. You did not. Forgive me if I consider her opinion on the subject of Mother Theresa's personality and works to be more authoritative than yours.

The argument over the existence of free will is a distraction. It's impossible to prove whether we have it or not, because its existence or otherwise has no detectable consequences.

General opinion is that it either won't be easy or it won't work very well. Exile and Avernum are just too different.

More to the point, why is the creation of more jobs a good thing when we're producing more than we need already? Surely the purpose of technological progress over the centuries has been to reduce the amount of work that has to be done.

They didn't really end up doing much, apart from fielding a candidate in the Misc elections (a candidate, ironically enough, whom Desp ended up supporting - and who didn't win anyway.)

Since you asked so nicely (and evidently just won't shut up until you get an answer), Polaris was a bunch of weirdos who decided the Desp community held too much sway on the boards and tried to do something about it.

Just because he believes the Bible wasn't literally written by the hand of God doesn't mean he's not allowed to be a Christian.

And the reason he hasn't explicitly acknowledged his religious beliefs is because he's had no reason to; nobody's tried to convert him to atheism here, so there's been no need for him to defend Christianity.

And don't say something like I've never given him a chance; he's had plenty of changes to say "I am Christian" or something like that, yet he always argues against me whenever I say anything abou my Christian beliefs.
I suspect that Alec would say that there's nothing Christian about your beliefs.

Second of all, people shouldn't call their celebration "Easter" if they don't believe in Jesus, or don't associate him with the holiday.
Er, you do know that Easter was actually named after a pagan fertility goddess, do you not?

Full disclosure, please. How many old or middle-aged people do you know who smoked pot when young and do not want it legalised? What's their reasoning?

I, for one, can think of several middle-aged people who smoked pot while young and now want it legalised. Djur probably knows even more such people.

Sir David, Alec is more sincerely Christian than most "Christians" I know. The one time I managed to seriously offend him, it was over his religion. So please, don't make him out to be some kind of blasphemous heathen.
