I don't think the item thing could be done without significant reworking of the engine. After all, how is it supposed to tell the difference between an item that's not on the floor in the savefile because it's already been picked up by the party and one that's not on the floor in the savefile because it didn't exist in the version of the scenario in which the file was saved?

He's saying Avernumscript is going to be significantly updated for Windows 1.0 and Mac 1.0.1, and the PC betatesters will be the first to see the changes.

Oh, the bridge battle. Well, firstly, I'm assuming you cast Enduring Barrier on all your PCs (you DID either start with EB or learn it in ASR, right?). If that doesn't help, it'd probably be easier to try to run away than to fight -- apparently, if you run, they won't bother you again.

I've used hasting potions just before outdoor fights in the past; the effects carry over into the battle for me, provided I start combat immediately (within one or two moves of drinking the potion).

I assume the battle you're having trouble with in the Giant Cave is the large room with the chief? I'd strongly recommend hasting your PCs before starting the battle, for one thing. Then focus on killing the shamans first, as they'll mess you up if you give them half a chance.

As for the worms, they're pretty nasty. Blessing may help.

You don't need a conspiracy to explain the existence of racism. Of course, it's pretty hard to deny that many governments do in fact take political advantage of racism when it suits them.

Maybe you're right; it's not as if I've done any sort of comprehensive survey. Students living in residence at uni certainly don't tend to have cars (and don't really need them), but they're a minority. And I've had plenty of experience with students who cry poor and yet obviously have money to throw around when they really want to.

As for paying for one's education, I have no real beef with the way HECS is set up. Being in debt isn't really a pleasant way to start a career, and the income threshold and repayment rate could probably be made fairer, but on the whole the system works. (Of course, that's easy for me to say. I'm paying the fees upfront -- or, more to the point, my parents are -- so it doesn't really affect me.)

As I understand it, PDFs are a publication-only format; once a PDF's been finished, it can't easily be changed.

I like RTFs, but most people don't.

If you're going to take items away at the end of the scenario, be sure to replace them with items that are at least moderately respectable. Leaving the party to enter their next scenario without any weapons at all is just cruel. (Falling Stars in BoE had a bad case of this; several of the best weapons in the scenario were stripped away and not replaced upon finishing the scenario.)

I'm at uni and living off my parents at the moment -- it's actually almost as cheap as paying the fees to live in residence at a college ($17 a day, and that doesn't include the cost of food!) Getting to uni is a little inconvenient, since it's a 30-minute commute, but eh.

I'm applying for a job soon, and since selection is apparently based mostly on academic record, I think I stand a reasonable chance of succeeding. It's not a crappy McJob either; it's a full-time position at a research institute over the winter break, plus 8 hours a week during semester.

You can provide a saved party to use with your scenario but you can't force the player to use them. Well, you could, but it'd be a lot of work and you shouldn't do it anyway.

Well, most scenarios have a way to leave them without finishing in the scenario somewhere (in ZKR, it's probably by leaving the fort you start in from the south; maybe you have to refuse your mission first). Failing that, use the character editor.
