The other problem is that it's literally impossible to get good spells and skills until very high levels. In BoE, level-1 fighters can have 20 strength and enough weapon skills for decent accuracy, and spellcasters can have level-7 spells and enough SP to cast almost anything. In BoA, you can't have the highest-level spells at any experience level before the mid-20s, and you have to pour fighters' skill points into Dexterity and weapon skills every so often just to keep your hit rate from falling against increasingly agile enemies.

Mind you, making one character's top priority be getting enough potion-making skill to make Heroic Brew would probably still be a decent strategy for going through a high-level scenario with a medium-level party.

Woo! Go Kelandon!

Of course, since I still haven't quite got the hang of party-building in Avernum, I think I'll experiment a little more with legitimate parties first.

In defending postmodernism from the conformist establishment, TM references popular literature instead of thinking for himself. Clearly he's big on irony as well.

The moral should make sense within the context of the scenario. If the scenario's plot doesn't make sense, then the moral is inevitably incoherent as well.

If I'm reading you correctly, this is exactly the point I disagree with. If a moral doesn't make sense within the logic of the scenario, either the scenario should be altered so that the moral makes sense, or the moral shouldn't be shoehorned in there. Maybe there could be some reason for not pushing the button, but it isn't explained, and to try to contrive an explanation is to give the scenario far too much credit.

As for cleaning up the waste delaying the closure of the School, I don't see how it could have. The cleanup itself didn't seem to take long when the party did it, and as previously mentioned, the portal in and out was already there. In any case, the School was given a week to close, which should have been more than enough to go down there and push a button.

If we've already saved the topics to HD, there's no rush to send them. A few hours without old topics won't kill anyone. IMAGE(tongue07.gif)

EDIT: Okay, it appears I can't send emails larger than 10 MB. I'll split up the archive and send it to you in pieces some time tonight.

You just have to save the results page for the polls (you may have to vote in the poll in order to do this, if you haven't done so already.) If saving them the way you'd save a normal webpage doesn't work (it works fine for me on Mozilla), you should be able to do it by right-clicking in the poll results window (Ctrl-clicking if you have a Mac) and choosing Save As.
