You do realise Adlerauge is the primary reason why I'm never going to make a scenario for parties above level 35? :P

Yeah. Personally, I'd recommend giving him different messages after every drink so the player knows they're making progress.

1. I seem to recall there's a guy in the same apartment complex you get the quest in who can set you up with some.

2. Check out the museum.

You weren't supposed to kill the spiders; they're friendly. Now you'll have to either use the character editor to reset hostile towns or give yourself the opening stone. If you don't want to cheat, you'll have to start over.

I hope you realise the game was only released about a week ago. Most people haven't even finished playing it yet, let alone found the time to write a walkthrough.

I don't consider the HLPM to be cheating; it's simply a useful convenience. A party that's gone through the HLPM won't be any stronger than a party that's reached the same level by going through ordinary scenarios.

Well, there's Mini vMac:

http://minivmac.sourceforge.net/

and then there's Basilisk II:

http://www.students.uni-mainz.de/bauec002/B2Main.html

But those only emulate very old Macs, and this isn't really an appropriate topic for this discussion anyway.

You should probably keep a number of different saved parties at different levels, you know. The High Level Party Maker makes it pretty easy to generate a few if you don't have any.

I'm aware that oxidation number in covalently-bonded compounds doesn't really correspond to a complete change in "ownership" of electrons. It's still a useful abstraction. (There's no such thing as a 100% covalent or 100% ionic bond anyway; bonds are classified by their degree of covalent or ionic character.)

The convention for covalently bonded non-organic molecules is to always include the prefixes, so dihydrogen monoxide it in fact is.
It could well be that you're right. My area's biology, not chemistry, which means most of the nomenclature I have to deal with is for complex organic compounds which have rules all of their own. (Not that I don't mess those up too, on occasion. Ask me to tell xylose from erythrose based on their Haworth projections and I'll start gibbering incoherently.)

quote:
EDIT: It's "oxide" whether the oxygen is actually in that full -2 state or not, I believe.
You're forgetting about peroxides (-1) and superoxides (-1/2).

quote:
EDIT 2: Of course, convention could easily differ between Australia and America.
Could be. There are at least two nomenclatural systems I'm aware of (IUPAC and the other one), although I couldn't honestly tell you the difference between them.

Well, it's not always a metal that goes first (you can't in this case, obviously, because hydrogen isn't a metal.) You use the name of the atom or group of atoms in the higher oxidation state first (in this case, hydrogen, which is +1), followed by the name of the atom or group of atoms in the lower oxidation state (in this case, a single oxygen atom in the -2 oxidation state, which is called "oxide".)

The scenario's for a level-1 party. If you followed the instructions in the readme, it probably took you 2 minutes to make it. It really isn't that much of a loss for you to just make a new one. You probably threw a bunch of skill points toward training in Thrown Missiles and First Aid as you gained levels, so your party's going to be a bit messed up anyway.

Besides, taking a party of Roman soldiers into other scenarios would mostly be bizarre and illogical. :P

The rules for naming chemical compounds are actually more complicated than that, but basically if a compound has only one common oxidation state and it's in it, it isn't necessary to use a prefix. The upshot is that you can just call water "hydrogen oxide" and still be correct.

Limbo is no longer Catholic doctrine (in fact, I'm not entirely sure it ever officially was), and it never really caught on in the other branches of Christianity.

I do have considerable respect for the Catholics. At least they try to answer all these little questions, even if their answers sometimes end up sounding a bit silly.

(And the place I live is pretty remote, so taking public transport home isn't a very viable option.) I don't go to cinemas very often because it's cheaper to wait for the movie to go out on free-to-air. Restaurants are an even bigger waste of money. And I don't go to nightclubs because I hate music.

But hey, let's make a deal. How about when you're involved in medical research that could improve the lives of thousands of people with autoimmune diseases and have relevance to the treatment of cancer sufferers, then you get to criticise the way I choose to spend my leisure time?

Oh, I can explain why, but not in a way that'd necessarily be convincing to anyone else.

Answering your second point would just lead to another ontology-fest centred around defining our terms, and I think we'd all have enough of those.

Even to say that I "feel they were wrong" is putting it too strongly, because it implies I feel as if my feelings have applicability beyond myself. I just have a personal dislike for genocide and for those who support it, that's all. Consider undertakers as another example; even if I acknowledge that their work is necessary to keep society together and thus beneficial to me, I'd rather not attend a dinner party with one, because they're creepy.

Here's what I belive the universally objective perfect moral system for all human beings is, "Love your neighbor as you do yourself." (neighbor in this context meaning everyone, but you probably knew that)
I would be interested as to what questioning you don't think it could stand up to. Or were you looking for one that was achievable?
So people who hate themselves to the point where they want to take their own lives ought to try and take as many other people out with them as possible?
