There are commands to move NPC and PCs around, display text bubbles, make explosions and other sorts of animations, do pauses, redraw the screen, etc. So in other words, no more tedious and cumbersome Frame Animation!! :D -------------------- Your flower power is no match for my glower power! Of course, you could have NPCs of any race you like join the party, although they will not be under the players control. A race check is in there. -------------------- Your flower power is no match for my glower power! Posts: 3726 | Registered: Tuesday, September 18 2001 07:00 |

When you run the scenario and the script is called the engine will tell you the line of the error and try to diagnose the problem So the answer is yes, it's the game itself. -------------------- Your flower power is no match for my glower power! Bashing weapons behave as melee weapons, so there is little difference other than cosmetic. -------------------- Your flower power is no match for my glower power! Posts: 3726 | Registered: Tuesday, September 18 2001 07:00 |

It's hard to quantify how much more complex it will be since by nature that is a qualitative thing. Suffice it to say that with scripting, it will be more difficult. The people running the arena can make custom scripts for everyone's use, but not the actual entrants. Although it would be nice to have such a script contest, unfortunately it is all too easy to do things such as haste every turn, heal completely, and a whole host of other nasty things. -------------------- Your flower power is no match for my glower power! I'm not saying that it cannot be done, but that it would be difficult to do and you would need to be careful if you ever have things that move time forward, etc. -------------------- Your flower power is no match for my glower power! Yes, we have the turn checker, but for some reason I have my doubts as to the stability of it over the course of an entire scenario. -------------------- Your flower power is no match for my glower power! Posts: 3726 | Registered: Tuesday, September 18 2001 07:00 |

Because there is no 'night' checking script. In BoE, we simulated night. In BoA, night is just a natural cycle. -------------------- Your flower power is no match for my glower power! Posts: 3726 | Registered: Tuesday, September 18 2001 07:00 |

If you make it a comedy based scenario, I could see how certain guest stars could work. Try not to use just American pop celebrities, or your scenario will not be very funny to players not from the US. -------------------- Your flower power is no match for my glower power! Such cameos are fine. You may want to ask permission from the people first though. -------------------- Your flower power is no match for my glower power! Posts: 3726 | Registered: Tuesday, September 18 2001 07:00 |

But we can always port it to BoA and within seconds, Bandit Busywork will be reborn. And all shall cower as this evil is once again thrust upon this world, now twisted by the dark arts of the porting tool. Actually, more like weeks. There are many inherent differences in the engines that need to be checked and ironed out. The dialogue needs to be completely rewritten, for instance. Terrain has to be smoothed out to account for the differences in walls. Certain nodes no longer exist and need to have their own scripts attached. This and among other improvements to provide plenty of examples for how to do lots of things with the editor add up to lots of time per scenario. It is not just like plugging something in, porting it, and just having it work. There needs to be a lot of revisions that a computer cannot do because of the differences in the two engines. -------------------- Your flower power is no match for my glower power! That is true in the Avernum series, but with the editor, players could make the endings possible depend on the racial mix of the party. -------------------- Your flower power is no match for my glower power! Posts: 3726 | Registered: Tuesday, September 18 2001 07:00 |

Music takes up a lot of file/server space and Jeff likes to keep downloads small. Also, where would you get the music? Remember, they cannot host anything copyrighted. -------------------- Your flower power is no match for my glower power! Posts: 3726 | Registered: Tuesday, September 18 2001 07:00 |
