I seem to recall Themistocles saying something like 'their fires have been put out at last' as well as 'sometimes I wonder if it was worth it' in one of the Forever scenes... I'm not really sure what that means, though. Posts: 363 | Registered: Wednesday, February 22 2006 08:00 |

If I remember correctly, Alcritas made this scenario in order to get rid of any 'unsolved mysteries' before he stopped designing, such as Sovereign's and Sage's indentities, Cornell's secret, etc. I tend to think of the ending as an ending that leaves possibilities for future sequels (no matter how unlikely they are to be made), rather than a true cliffhanger. Thanks Khoth, it works (I wasn't using cmd). I should be sending my comments in the next few minutes, and I'll be rating alint a bit higher. ;) EDIT : Sent. [ Sunday, January 14, 2007 08:31: Message edited by: The Lurker ] Posts: 363 | Registered: Wednesday, February 22 2006 08:00 |

Given my own playing experience, 'massively underpowered' is certainly true, to the point of making some scenarios nearly unwinnable (especially TM's scenarios). Maybe it's because I'm quite a thorough player and/or tend to pick up and sell everything that's worth more than 8 coins, which really adds up after a while, but I suspect even a lazy player will agree that you aren't given enough cash. I bought nearly every level of every spell in ASR, and I still ended up with lots of potions, and quite a bit of money and equipment - much more than I could ever have had using the HLPM. quote:If there is, I'd sure like to know how. I tried everything I could think of, even using Scroll Lock on my keyboard, nothing works. There is a workaround -using alint to 'scan' each file one by one-, but it's kind of painful. Oh well, it's not going to affect the rating I will give it *that* much. A little, but not much. :P Posts: 363 | Registered: Wednesday, February 22 2006 08:00 |

Thank you, Lazarus. (The whole Alint thing, BTW, is because I may rate it differently depending on how my question is answered.) Posts: 363 | Registered: Wednesday, February 22 2006 08:00 |

I'm almost done. I've got two questions, however : 1)Does anyone know if getting Alint not to display all of the bugs at once is possible? I can only see the last bugs displayed; not the first ones. 2)Where am I supposed to post since the judging forum was destroyed? Oh, and by the way, I can't test Niemand's Graphics Adjuster, since I only use a PC. I did like the color shifts in Echoes : Renegade, but I don't think that'd be enough to 'judge' it. All right, I'll participate. I've already tried most utilities, so it shouldn't take too long. Posts: 363 | Registered: Wednesday, February 22 2006 08:00 |

Apparently, Karl Gottfried only sells a few priest spells which aren't that high-level and Imban sells some mage spells which aren't that high-level either. The man who lets you make Wands of Binding is supposed to teach very powerful spells, but there's apparently no way to buy them from him. I'm going to check in both the Mac and PC versions just in case, but I'd honestly be surprised if there was any way to buy or find Antimagic Cloud. That's one of the few things I'd like to change, I think I'll ask TM about it once I'm done with the debugging stuff. And by the way, Inn of Blades lets you learn a lot of spells, and some of them are much more high-level than the ones in Echoes (you get to learn Death Arrows and Avatar, and you can buy very high-level mage spells from Terror's Martyr, including Quickfire. There are also quite a few high-level priest spells you can buy/learn from other people or books, if I remember correctly). I know, Thuryl. You already told me about this on the Lyceum. ;) Seriously, I doubt I'll be changing a lot of things other than bug-fixing, unless TM tells me otherwise. By the way, you didn't really answer my question last time : how did you manage to beat the Pheadran Altar? Is there some secret place where you can buy/get antimagic cloud? Did I miss something while checking the shops and the text dump? I know high-level spells are mostly overrated, but antimagic cloud is still very useful. Even Inn of Blades (which I may end up fixing too) has more high-level spells than Echoes... Or maybe you just gave one of your PCs 10 Luck and sent him/her to battle the Altar, ending combat every two turns to save and reload. :P [ Friday, December 29, 2006 01:07: Message edited by: The Lurker ] Posts: 363 | Registered: Wednesday, February 22 2006 08:00 |

My resolution is to start working on fixing Echoes again... In fact, I'm writing notes on shops and SDFs right now. (TM, just in case you can read this, I apologize for being so slow*. :( ) I also promise I will try not to 'accidentally' erase the entire Mountain Worg gauntlet. :P *Or perhaps I should say 'lazy', to be honest. There are plenty of contradictions in Spidweb games, such as Vyvnas being the mad crystal soul in A4 instead of Jekknol. Or Learned Darian switching genders. Or Khyryk appearing in Geneforge 4 in spite of the G3 rebel ending. But eh, contradictions aren't always awful. I wanted both Khyryk and the rebel ending for G4 anyway. :D Posts: 363 | Registered: Wednesday, February 22 2006 08:00 |

Truly, being Dintiradan's sidekick rocks. :D By the way, I like the new way of telling the story. I especially liked the first four lines of Chapter 1. Posts: 363 | Registered: Wednesday, February 22 2006 08:00 |

It's not a level, it's a hidden adventure text game. It may only be playable in the shareware version, but I wouldn't know. HINT : To find it, select the blank spot in the options (or something like that) menu with the up and down arrows of your keyboard, then press enter. EDIT : All right, it's in the 'configuration' menu. The blank spot is below 'Done', and can only be selected wth the down arrow of your keyboard. Note that I never managed to finish Castle Ethilo - I solved a few puzzles, but there seemed to be all kinds of problems/bugs, such as not being able to get out of the castle once you enter it. As far as I know, it could even be unfinishable, but I'm not very good at this kind of game. Thanks, Thuryl! (I really need to (re?)play these third-party levels...) I also think I agree with Salmon - the disappointment is even more important when the game is part of a series you love and you expect it to be awesome. Posts: 363 | Registered: Wednesday, February 22 2006 08:00 |
