The rate at which they appear speeds up to every 15 frames. The frequency with which they spit acid is random (I think it's a 1% chance for each Artila at any given frame), but no Artila will spit acid until it has been idle 5 frames, plus its creation animation, maybe 15 frames. So assuming you click each Artila within 20 frames of its creation, it's impossible to get hit. The minimum delay between zaps is 16 frames, I think, but you can still use all 20 frames to aim. Provided you don't miss, the game never becomes impossible. But it's pretty damned hard after 100! quote: -------------------- One of these words is mispelled. What surprises me most about the internet is the graphic things its users are exposed to, and the extent to which most of them are deprived. I bet plenty of you are virgins AND know what a "dirty sanchez" is. I bet none of us has, er, executed the D.S. and if you have I don't care to hear you recall it. Funny your high score should be 110. Mine is 111! Of course, swf files have lower framerates when run in a browser. It's supposed to be 30 and when I run it in firefox it seems like 25. Think I should make my own Ornk graphic, or game or something. I've always liked them, although I was really turned off by the monotonous phrase, "This particular piece of livestock seems friendly enough, but has neither the ability nor the inclination to have a conversation with you." quote:Honesty! Praise to Aloreal! quote:Where did you get the coke? Or ... hasn't that been done? quote:I'm not saying I disagree, but would you consider me an alcoholic if I knocked back a fifth of Jack every day, and liked it? I'm not sure if I could answer that one myself. quote:I love my momma, and we respect one another, but it is none of her damn business how many hours a day I play video games. You might want to break it to your mom a little softer. quote:Hooray! Definition! Praise to Synergy! quote:Good observation. So how about MAKING video games? It's even more tedious than playing them, but something comes of it. I do it all the time ... of course, not much ever comes of mine ... quote:Do you mean to tell me you've never been drunk as a teenager? Or haven't you been through that decade yet? I've never even known of anyone who went through college without drinking heavily at some point. Humor me: are you the first? quote:Where do YOU live? Prepare to hear, then! So I'm in the car with three of my friends, coming back from a play. The cops did not announce their arrival or pull us over - they instead stood in front of the moving car and began shining their flashlights in our eyes. When we stopped, they pounded on both front windows (it scared the piss out of me, I couldn't see who it was) and demanded we "get out of the f@cking car!" My friend (the driver) got shoved back in because he said his license was still in the car "just shut the f@ck up and gimme your goddamn license!" Kept insisting we had been drinking and driving. It wasn't past curfew. We were going about 15 in a neighborhood. I was yanked by my shirt out of the backseat and questioned. Being the usual pain-in-the-ass I am to authority, all they got out of me was one "yes" once they let us go. Land of the free, everyone. True story: ask Kyle, Chris, or Ally how scared we were of getting our asses kicked by the LOCAL COPS. quote:Agreed. Giving something a name doesn't stop it. Stillness, you put down a lot of good stuff (too much to address it all specifically), and you admit that you're not expressing which is "right" or "wrong." I'm very happy to see that kind of concession in this kind of debate. I'm a good example of someone who has chosen drugs. I take a prescription for a mental disorder I won't describe, but I feel I don't have a choice. You say you "won't sacrifice [your] mental and physical health for some immediate calm." Well, what if you didn't have those to start with? Hypothetically, would you forgo an easier solution? quote:As a Christian, you base your beliefs on a preexisting moral code. Am I wrong? quote:Hell, at least you're willing to try something! I encourage everyone who reads this to experiment. Additionally, if it weren't for drugs, I would have died by the time I was a few weeks old. I don't believe I would have a very promising life without the medication I take currently, as well. I know I'll get even more negative feedback from this, but the discussion would be really fair if its participants have all experienced or observed addiction. And for the record, I've NEVER had to throw up from drinking. quote: quote: quote: I see Mr. T! -------------------- One of these words is mispelled. Woah, that was quite a resurrection. I did enjoy this thread for what it's worth. Probably worth bringing back up! I always play that type of character! I just don't powergame quite as heavily. Still, my first run through Geneforge 4 left me at level 39 or 40 and I didn't bother with cleaning out towns. Hoo-haa: Leadership, Mechanics, and magic. That's where it's at. -------------------- One of these words is mispelled. Posts: 284 | Registered: Tuesday, January 31 2006 08:00 |

There was an error with restarting (it being, you explode as soon as you try). I fixed it and uploaded the new version: play it here if you feel the need. Listen, you're zapping the Artila, but the game will regardless be called "Whack the Artila." It's what Haakai-Tender Valcrist wanted! (He just spelled "whack" as "wack" which is unacceptable to me). Anyway, I was going to make variations with Ornk (because they look particularly silly when killed) but I was so whacked out after making this (in one sitting) I decided against it. I have this nasty habit (of using too many parentheses). -------------------- One of these words is mispelled. Posts: 284 | Registered: Tuesday, January 31 2006 08:00 |

It's actually like Groundhog Day. As soon as you die, you reawaken at the last point you pressed F3. On a side note, there should be a Load Game button on the death dialog. This is an easy implementation. More importantly, F4 should load the Quicksave file from that screen as well. It would save swing-and-miss players like me hours. -------------------- One of these words is mispelled. Posts: 284 | Registered: Tuesday, January 31 2006 08:00 |

Sure, I played WoW for a while there. Human Priest, the heart of any good party. The great resurrector. Now that it has been reborn, I'll grace this topic with my cynicism and argue that you ARE say you'd "leave raids just to go get high." I'll bite AND pull you in. Firstly, I expect everyone to assume demonslay3r was reefering to marijuana. How unimaginative. I've been high off caffeine, alcohol, Benadryl, and other drugs that are commercially available. "Getting high" can not be generalized as an "illegal activity," thus it is not subject to scrutiny under the existing Code of Conduct. Secondly, most psychoactive drugs (like marijuana) are totally legal where I live. And in a lot of other places. In fact, I can go to a mom-and-pop head shop and buy bud right now without breaking a single law. Finally, if the phrase "to get high" is disallowed, then quoting it and not editing it should probably be cause for concern. After all, demonslay3r thoughtfully edited his own post after being gently reprimanded. Since Maimonides, Calphrexo, Thuryl, jg.faust, wz. As, Jumpin' Sarcasmon, and myself each discussed the subject on the board, we are all guilty of the same misdemeanor. Randomizer also brought this heinous smudge on the forum to our attention, so he too must be persecuted. A thousand Hail-Mary's and slap to the ass for everyone. -------------------- One of these words is mispelled. Posts: 284 | Registered: Tuesday, January 31 2006 08:00 |

quote:That's because they think they can do something about the video games. I've had alcohol as long as I can remember (even wine coolers at 2) and went through that crazy binge drinking phase in a year or two when I was 16. Bloody American cops nabbed me for such, and I had no trouble going entirely dry for 3 months of probation. Of course now I'm back in Belgium, where law enforcement isn't composed of vengeful *******s. I argue that video games themselves have no debilitating effect on one's life. They are entertainment. For some disaster to happen, like that kid jumping out of a building or those high school massacres, someone has existing psychological problems. This is the kind of thing I'd like to sit in on an actual hearing. -------------------- One of these words is mispelled. Posts: 284 | Registered: Tuesday, January 31 2006 08:00 |

Sticks and stones. It's extremely closed-minded to apply taboo to words. That's my opinion and, since I doubt I'll get much out of it at the moment, I don't care to explain. If anyone wants my rationale, beat a path to my door. [ Thursday, June 28, 2007 21:22: Message edited by: Nick Ringer ] -------------------- One of these words is mispelled. I was not, and now I'm entertained. I think the squished graphics were to fit in the interface, and not how they originally looked. Don't suppose you want a Fyora with a cannon on its back? I'm less into just images then I am into animation. I mean, The iPods crack me up, but I'd rather give a Roamer a wagging tail or make a Mage do the Moonwalk. -------------------- One of these words is mispelled. ...huh? 15 gig, you mean? I think there's been some misunderstanding. Did you think I suggested we replace the sprites or something? I was just comparing them for the sake of the forum. The dancing Shaper, the zombiesque Shade, and the heavy metal Battle Alpha are there mostly because they are fun to watch. In fact, they were easy to make. Someone else should give it a try, and we can make a contest. Maybe someone wants a dancing Vlish, or Ornk... EDIT You can't be surprised. This thread is for discussion of graphics. This includes sprites, backgrounds, interfaces, and drawings. It is also a vessel for silliness. The first topic is the Shaper sprite. Others defending the pre-Geneforge 3 graphic won me over. Take a look: [ Thursday, June 28, 2007 09:32: Message edited by: Nick Ringer ] -------------------- One of these words is mispelled. I gotta admit, I thought that one was stiff and thin but looking back I do like it better. However I've never liked playing as a Shaper (the class, not the affiliation).
