What did I mean when I said "nother?" I mean, I know what I meant. But why in Terrestria did I type "nother?" -------------------- One of these words is mispelled. Posts: 284 | Registered: Tuesday, January 31 2006 08:00 |

Well I didn't mean "disappointed" in the sense that I didn't like the games. Just that, what I predicted was false. -------------------- One of these words is mispelled. Posts: 284 | Registered: Tuesday, January 31 2006 08:00 |

It's when your hallucinatons include serviles that you know something is wrong. ... I have visual hallucinations, but they're typically just lights and movements. Sometimes people. Nother from Geneforge (yet). -------------------- One of these words is mispelled. Posts: 284 | Registered: Tuesday, January 31 2006 08:00 |

quote:I think Golems and other hybrid creations need materials, combined with essence. The vats of glaahk parts and stuff are for studying. The Shaping labs are basically essence sources. And the first Geneforge, I think in the second area, mentions that the round stone platforms are only there to make shaping more convenient. What I don't understand is how Shapers can keep essence in their bodies. For a long time I thought essence was just a form of magic/energy. Then in GF3 we're told that it's a mixture of chemicals, magically charged good, and partially living flesh. Maybe the word "essence" refers to the fluid as well as the energy? -------------------- One of these words is mispelled. Posts: 284 | Registered: Tuesday, January 31 2006 08:00 |

Good observations by Delicious Vlish ... Dominate could be a lesser-lasting spell, perhaps? Takes 2 turns to cast maybe. And lasts just 5. Less dependant on skill. -------------------- One of these words is mispelled. Posts: 284 | Registered: Tuesday, January 31 2006 08:00 |

I personally like insurmountable enemies. Perhaps someone you meet at the beginning and really want to kill, but there's no way you could. Also, the multiple-stage battles were very cool. Like Litalia doing her "Akhari! Take me!" the first time you beat her down. I've never really had to make the choice between battle and diplomacy; I'm glad that's better-defined. Usually I was able to break all the doors and traps, talk everyone into submission, then go back just to kill everything that moves. Lots of experience, never had to choose one path. -------------------- One of these words is mispelled. Posts: 284 | Registered: Tuesday, January 31 2006 08:00 |

There have only been a FEW notes by Jeff himself. Fortunately, he (in my opinion, correctly) predicted that more people would read further comments if he made a new thread, which he did. -------------------- One of these words is mispelled. Posts: 284 | Registered: Tuesday, January 31 2006 08:00 |

quote:That was my assumption. Besides, can you think of four other classes? Let us speculate: - Servile (good at infiltration?) - Outsider (Villager or whatever) - Sholai (Sailor, I guess as to Shaper) - Warrior (as to Guardian) - Mage (as to Agent) -------------------- One of these words is mispelled. I sympathize with the food poisoning most of all. I once had it, really, really bad. Unable to throw up for four days of nauseating agony, spent trying to induce puking as I knelt before the god of porcelain. Eventually lost consciousness and vomited my [expletive left to imagination of reader] brains out in a stupor. Love quests that lead to more quests. Oooh, how I hope Sholai are playable! ... this calls for a celebration. A canister, please, Igor. (EDIT) Can there be animations of canister use? or unlocking things? Oh, please? I'll do the animation myself and everything ... I'm good with cartooning and 3D modelling! Actually, I would swig it out of a bottle I kept in a drawer under the computer (how unorthodox!). I used to drink peach vodka as I played. And by vodka, I mean 70-proof CRAP. $14 for a handle. McCormick's, which I actually love. Just don't spill it. So sticky and sweet. Tend to hit my head on the desk, swaying madly. And how can you put "balance" and "drinking" into the same sentence? Damn "straight" lines, they move them under your feet. Sneaky cops. Er, can we talk about Geneforge though? I was really liking the war-waging, with troops at your disposal and stuff. -------------------- One of these words is mispelled. Posts: 284 | Registered: Tuesday, January 31 2006 08:00 |

No. When I'm intoxicated* I do other stuff. But drunken attempts to play any Geneforge title proved difficult, given the reading and the fact that I forget what I did. Much better, I tore the counter surface off my bathroom sink in a burst of herculean might, then passed out on the floor. Incidentally, has anyone noticed that each Geneforge title has more drunks than the previous one? GF1 doesn't have any that come to mind. GF2 has Zoka and some other serviles. GF3 has a few significant NPC's and a whole inn of sailors who are "sleeping off the near-suicidal amount of alcohol they consumed the night before." * intoxicated: inebriated, drunk, buzzed, crapitated, under the influence, sloshed, toasted, hammered, pissed, ****ed up, ****faced, creamed, blitzed, blasted, blottoed, wasted, lit etc. -------------------- One of these words is mispelled. As long as we're so pathetically off topic: I have always hated the way the serviles looked, with their big, pointy noses. A little too inhuman for me, you know? Who agrees? I think they should look more childish, and live up to their name. And now for one of my characteristic sketches: ![]() Didn't turn out how I expected. Tried to make a fat, sad looking creature. -------------------- One of these words is mispelled. Posts: 284 | Registered: Tuesday, January 31 2006 08:00 |

Eyebeasts are, arguably, the most powerful creations. For lower levels, I'm very fond of Glaahks. If you can't produce the essence for much more powerful creations, make Glaahks. -------------------- One of these words is mispelled. Posts: 284 | Registered: Tuesday, January 31 2006 08:00 |

The boat should take you to the world map, not the zone. In fact, the map should have a little boat icon to jump islands, provided you've used the boat. -------------------- One of these words is mispelled. Posts: 284 | Registered: Tuesday, January 31 2006 08:00 |

Cool off, it doesn't matter who thought of this or that. My creations are pure-orange and only occupy terrain of the same color. Also, they tell you "you're cute" periodically. -------------------- One of these words is mispelled. Posts: 284 | Registered: Tuesday, January 31 2006 08:00 |

Uh oh, I'm in the sig. MagmaDragoon, you might want to consider shortening. Not the ingredient, but take out the extra spacing in your sig. Your posts take up the screen even if you post just one line ... I mean. You could get it down to: No one was born to be a slave. Join the Awakened TODAY! Slartucker: Magma, you are actually Marlenny's dog ... I think we should make MagmaDragoon's mother an honorary member of the forums. Nick Ringer: Are you suggesting Jeff Vogel is a god? Just to clarify (and maybe to show off, just a little): The Gull-Spears boat returns to Gull North Docks after the first time you use it; to misquote the game, because "Gull North Docks would be a better place from which to continue an adventure." -------------------- One of these words is mispelled. You can't get the ring until late in the game (Purified Essence is only found in Pharaon's (sp?) Hall and in the Pit of the Bound). I remember the Infiltrator's cloak being in that northern pass ... Infiltrator Vest: in faculty room of Magus Complex; on body near servant mind of Benerii-Uss Power Infiltrator's Cloak: on body in northern corner of Northern Pass; on body near servant mind of Benerii-Uss Power Infiltrator Charm: from clockwork drakon of Clockwork Maze Infiltrator Shield: in southeast building of Trapped Forest Other unofficial infiltration items: Tinker's Gloves: in Kari's room of Clockwork Maze; in central room of Shade Patrol Shining Shield: from cult leader of Zhas-Uss Outskirts; for completing Battle Beta quest from Darian of Darian's Sanctuary -------------------- One of these words is mispelled.
