The difference would be that there is credible evidence for the correct age, which is why we know it's correct. Believing evidence that others have told you isn't blind faith.

You mean you don't believe any of the evidence that the earth is older than that? They found rocks that were billions of years old. It's not arguable. It's cold, hard fact.

And please don't give me any of that "to test our faith" stuff. Such poor reasoning causes my eyes to burn out of their sockets.

I have yet to see a legitimate argument against this. :D

Major, are you supporting hard creationism? Not ID? The "world was made 6000 years ago" theory? It seems like you are, but I'm bad at reading other people, especially over the internet.

Ooo. Juicy secret.

It seems like a cycle. There is a numerous race of islanders. Some of them discover a shaping-related power. They break off. Later, they attack and destroy the non-seperated islanders. They win by virtue of their new power.

Later, the shaper's numbers are large. Some of them discover canisters. They break off. Later, they attack the shapers (G3). Perhaps the rebels will win in G4?

Different Magic For Each Class in Geneforge Series

This would be fairly cool, but we run into trouble with the Agent. The Agents, as has been pointed out, use all spells, not just a specific type. You can't really confine them to a set of spells.

Maybe the Agent could use all spells, and the other classes are restricted to class spells. That way, if someone wants to play a tank Agent with Augmentation and blessing magic, they can.

Seeing as I have a desperate appetite for bits of Geneforge plot and that my copy of G1 has been screwed up majorly (I'm stuck in the Spirit City and can't move for some reason) could someone please tell me the Big Secret? By IM, maybe, to preserve its secrecy.

Oops. :o . Another classic case of "name ending in A" syndrome. Anyway, to get back in your good graces:

Alcritas did this in Falling Stars. Events in general are rather dodgy, and life/death flags I'm pretty sure only work if you visit four other towns in between. You've got two options that I can think of.

1) Set an SDF that calls a special upon entry into the town. The special calls a special encounter that is the NPC. Or, the SDF causes the special not to be called, making the NPC disappear.

2) Variable Town Entry. This can let you completely redo the town, but it takes up a town slot and the town reverts to blackness the first time you enter it. For an explanation of VTE see here or here.

You could try "Disappear on day" but I'm not sure that works either.

(Anyone know how Alcritas did the diappearing NPC's in FS? I thought it was life flags but apparently that doesn't work.)

Anyway, best of luck with your scenario!

Eheheh... another reason Macs are superior to Windows.

This only works in Exile 2. It would likely work in Exile 1, because they have similar interfaces, but Exile 1 doesn't even have scry monster. At Exile 3 we get switched to the Blades scrying interface.

And he'll never patch this. If he does, we can all force him to patch Blades.

Interesting. You've got a topic in General which belongs here and this topic here which belongs in General. ;)

As far as the poll goes, that's very, very general. I would have to go with them being equal, thought in Geneforge I do seem do die more often.

(Also, make spelling and grammar your friends. Or at least close acquaintances)

So, do you want help on the demon plot? Or ideas for other plots? Or some of both? I'm confused here, so I'll help with the demon one.

"A demon controls a village" needs another twist, really, to make a plot. Perhaps the player doesn't know that the demon is controlling the village. Perhaps the demon is an ancient foe of that particular village that the PC's have a special reason to hate. Perhaps they're duped into helping the demon, then have to correct what they did unknowingly. I'm just brainstorming. Say more of what you want the scenario to be like and we can get more specific.

As far as the book goes, I would go with making a scenario. Scenarios are considerably easier to make than novels, don't have to be accepted by publishing companies, and don't need to worry about copyright issues at all. Also, the world needs BOA scenarios more than it needs books.

How on earth could you be Valish? It's not a nationality or even a country; it's a made-up language.

Anyway, the greatest topic ever would likely be something original. Copying other topics won't get you far.

OOC: I was waiting for Lazarus, but he's spontaneously combusted apparently. A short post then:

IC:

Drale was riding with a company of twenty men. They had been successful today; one of the few trading convoys left had fallen to their blades. It was a good haul; new wands and scrolls for everyone.

Now he was riding back to the mountains, to examine his pickings. The nearest outpost was close.

Suddenly, a man on a horse burst into view. He waved a scroll in the air, and looked like he had traveled many miles. His hair was wild and his horse weary. He moved towards Drale.

In an instant, the men around Drale drew their swords and bows and wands. One hand gesture and the man would be blasted out of existence.

But they waited. Drale rode out to meet him.
"Halt, stranger! These are Looter lands. What business have you with us?"
The man, panting, handed Drale the scroll. It was a letter from Demetrius. So, he was willing to parley. Interesting. These Rakshasi must be quite strong to worry the Dominion.
"Tell your master I offer of a ceasefire in favor of an opposition to the Rakshasi. We can meet in a neutral place to discuss terms."

The messenger rode off. Two bitter enemies had allied. Ermarian was truly banding together to defeat a common enemy.

But, then again, I can't speak for the man himself. Whaddya say, JV?

Content ratings in Blades of Exile
Infiltrator
Member # 6652

G, PG, and R are the American content ratings. (There's also PG-13, but Jeff left it out of BOE).

G means General Audiences (Completely clean, everyone admitted) PG means Parental Guidance (Almost harmless, maybe a couple of fart jokes or something) and R is Restricted (Adult material, no one under 17 admitted without accompanying parent or guardian).

See MPAA
Note that this is pretty outdated; PG is basically the new G, and 8-year olds are allowed to see PG-13 movies with no protest.

In general, your basic BOE scenario is PG. If there's no combat at all and a happy-fun-bunnies plot, it's probably G. If you've got several gruesome murders, it's probably R.

However, scenario designers tend to overrestimate gore; Spears or Falling Stars are PG in my opinion, but they're rated R.

EDIT: Ash Lael has beaten me. Well, I have more words. Ha!
