Well im not sure if I should post since im really just playing with the unregistered editor and writing lots of plotnotes. Legacy of the Warlord, will have around a dozen towns/dungeons, a few newish graphics and scripting quality is yet to be decided. It will be a low level adventure that shouldn't take to long to complete (its a starter scene idea after all). The story is based during the time of Avernum 2, where your a small band of Empire Soldiers sent to take care of a problem on the surface concerning an Ogre uprising. -------------------- Fine Meal is people!!! Thanks for all the suggestions (thought I may have to go agaisn't yours Mojo, more as to keep my Scenerio true to its story). Nobody seems to have given any ideas on puzzles. Though im guessing its much harder to make a challenging and/or fun puzzle then to make battles fun. -------------------- Fine Meal is people!!! Thanks Drakefyre, I had come across that article before (and it was helpful going over it again). Also curious about what others think. It seems in BoA you can make things alot more interesting with scripted events for a battle then just adding items and abilities. -------------------- Fine Meal is people!!! Im not sure if this has come up before, but as a novice scenerio designer I've been reading up on scenerio reviews (mostly BoE ones since they are more numerous) and alot of them suggest that puzzles need to be more fun, combat more challenging etc. What exactly makes for a challenging battle or fun imaginative puzzle? I've read articles on dungeon design and storyline developement, but have yet to find anything on these aspects that I would think make up the guts of playing any scenerio. -------------------- Fine Meal is people!!! But really they are pretty good, just one more suggestion on the Archer though, maybe a quiver of arrows over his back may look cool to? -------------------- Fine Meal is people!!! Anything special you want made up out of those catagories? Nice graphics bleu, the Nephil are a smidgeon to plump though, in my opinion. The plan nephil and archer also look a tad short (sorry, felt like being abit of a critic, don't mind me) -------------------- Fine Meal is people!!! Thanks for the ideas *I, a few wondering merchants I could do (since their is a central merchant square). Most of the merceneries I imagined as being already employed in such a time. I already have a Wizard protecting the town, though im not sure he will have time to help adventurers, a refugee priest from a sacked village, thats about the jist of the town. -------------------- Fine Meal is people!!! The town is a medium sized Merchant town located along an important trade route through the mountains, occupying a verdant valley high in the mountains. It is currently under siege by ogres and the local Empire forces have been forced to abandon their fort to them and fortify the town. Most of the farms lay unattended and abandoned due to this. (Im trying a fletcher, misc merchant and alchemist as well as the above, but they still don't feel right). -------------------- Fine Meal is people!!! With my first test scenerio I've made up a medium sized town. Its for a low level party, so im not sure which shops would be available to them. So far I have the following: Blacksmith (Weapons and/or Armour) Tavern (Room and possibly Food) I have room for two more shops, anyone have any suggestions what they should have? -------------------- Fine Meal is people!!! Does this magic society really have to have all its citizens magically talented? sure there would be more then there is now, but almost anyone can make use of wands, scrolls, crystals it seems. Heck, you could have a printing press for magic scrolls  -------------------- Fine Meal is people!!! Posts: 289 | Registered: Saturday, February 16 2002 08:00 |

Well you could think of it this way, that when you are fighting those monster that their weapons break, armour gets torn, or they are carry rubbish equipment to begin with. Giant's probley don't need weapons to just step on ya -------------------- Fine Meal is people!!! Posts: 289 | Registered: Saturday, February 16 2002 08:00 |

Heh, since I've been told of for using JPG's, anyone know a free program that will CLEANLY convert a BMP to a GIF? Since I only have MS Paint at the moment, JPG's come out the best from it unfortunately. -------------------- Fine Meal is people!!! Posts: 289 | Registered: Saturday, February 16 2002 08:00 |

Well now I see something very strange, the Warlord in the lourve is under my name. I honestly can't remember ever making that graphic and don't want to take credit for someone elses work. Wonder who's it is. -------------------- Fine Meal is people!!! Posts: 289 | Registered: Saturday, February 16 2002 08:00 |

You could always try the Naga, they are another of those unexplored races in the Avernum series and I believe another creature from Indian mythology (however they where guardians and protectors rather then evil). Just a thought, they also allied with the Empire during the war it seemed, there was a third race as well, but I can't remember who they where. -------------------- Fine Meal is people!!! Though I have read alot on Spidweb about being a solo games designer by Jeff. Which sounds like he doesn't mind others making games in such a way. So you could always take some programming classes or get a good programming book and try it yourself (wouldn't suggest being to over ambitious though). Just a thought if this is the line of work your interested in. -------------------- Fine Meal is people!!! Posts: 289 | Registered: Saturday, February 16 2002 08:00 |

Also curious about somethings. Like what exactly would the winner get from this competition? (fine with me if its just bragging rights) and who's judging it, just TM? -------------------- Fine Meal is people!!! Posts: 289 | Registered: Saturday, February 16 2002 08:00 |

Hmmm, heres some suggestions. Start thinking up goals for the party, minor goals that would lead up to the their final goal (the end). Think of substories and how they would tie in with the main theme (you don't have to use them if they don't fit, just experiment in your head). If you have a cool idea for a town, dungeon or whatever try and work that in as well (again if it just doesn't fit don't force it in). Try thinking a main cast of NPC's, the heroes, villians and other people who play a part in a story, try to think up how what their personality is, how they will act towards the Heroes etc. I haven't made a scenerio yet, but have plenty of ideas, those are just a few pointers from how I formed the stories in my head. Hope that helps. -------------------- Fine Meal is people!!! Posts: 289 | Registered: Saturday, February 16 2002 08:00 |
