I'm new to the GF world, so maybe my tactic is wrong, but I use the shaper. I make creations and boost their stats (while trying to keep my essence high enough) until I can make an better creation. i absorb the old one, and invest my absorbed assence in a better monster. what is better to invest skillpoints in: intelligence (for essence) or strenght (for higher encumbrance level)?

He can't? I thought there is this option to boot in OS 9. is this option deleted in 10.3? Because i think my mother, who uses 10.3, can.

I don't see option 1 as a good solution. If I do that, I wouldn't get any further in the game, would I. How would it help me? Don't I have to just get stronger? Geneforge 3 works alright, so i do start to learn the game. I just avoid things I still con't cope with. In geneforge 1, the serviles in that forest that keep killing me, should they that, even when I pay the toll? that looks quite strange to me...

Strange. I've an Imac G3 and only the first time when I played it, the computer ran slowly. th game itself actually didn't become slower, but the computer itself was all the time (what I call thinking), making that strange knows when its handling processes. Do uou understand what I mean? I think, if i read your problem, that you maybe should try to strat up with OS 9, instead of OS X. maybe that will work. Or you should give Geneforge more memory to work (or give that memory to OS X) with. I also ha problems of this kind, but then the computer claimed that the program didn't have enough memory. Also, that were other programs.

Once I just read to quickly ant thought it was geneforce, and not geneforge. This probably happened to may people. I'm finally starting to understand that geneforge is some kind of monster or folk? By th way, I earlier sai I will probably try Geneforge 1. I tried it, but after the third level, were all these serviles walk around, I always get killed. Now I managed to get into that school or something to the north. But I don't manage to go past the wood. Even if I pay the toll, i get killed. going to th east from Vakiri I'm constanly slain by those big things which I don't know the name of.

one thing though (as you yourself already said):
"I cannot speak (although say is better) the words, because I don't them."
I indeed meant "haec." Sorry for that.

EDIT: And your location doesn't much matter. The proverb is Latin, not English, which means that everyone in Western Europe (or the descendant cultures) uses it to some degree.[/QB]
My Latin sentence actually says my main struggle in the proverb.

My final point about this matter: I don't know the words and don't have acces to a good dictionary. i suppose you are right though, about living in different countries (what you say in the quote above).

Not only I'm not English, I live in holland. We don't use this proverb, actually. So how should i know something I don't use? if you use ut, you shouls know the tranlation, but if you don't, why should I?

My point is, I can't know what it is, if I don't know it and I don't live in circles where its used.

EDIT:
Can somebody translate what i wrote in the previous post? (I'm just curious if somebody knows a bit of Latin).

*** Warning: don't read this post because of extreme sarcasme ***

Maybe this post is unnesecary, but I will post it anyway, just to irritate everyone. Because Aloreal always puts some important information in his signature and I usually don't read signatures, i may miss the information. So, and I'm trying not to be to offensive, please, if such a thing happens, you maybe could try to not fill up the forum with these messages. In mt eyes, this is spam actually. Maybe this hole message is also spam, but just to say the thing I wanted to say, I wanted to post this message.

I hardly ever listen to pop or rock. I actually don't listen to anuthing modern, only to classical musin. So therefor I don't have a real understanding on that. About classical music you can ask me almost anything.

Its not that i cant spell or something.

EDIT:
If you listen to some symphnies, you'lle soon discover the oboe is maily usen as solo instrument. That's, in my opinion, the only thing its actually for. Its tone is not really the right one for background.

After reading this stroy before my post, i think i can say that there three things I always liked in avernum and probably will never see again in a RPG:

It is relaxing in a way that you don't have to be ready for attacks all the time, because one thing you know for sure: I you don't take your turn, the enemy also wouldn't take his turn. So if you are just walking in a dungeon and you see that in front of you this haakai is blocking the way, you can be sure it wouldn't come running at you. It will only move when you move.

You can explore the world in your own tempo and you can explore the dungeons in your preffered way. In geneforce you have to explore the dungeons in a certain, way and you can't really choose.

the third thing is the graphics of Avernum. I'm hooked on that sort pf graphics. I just find it more fun then all the beautiful good graphics and the good motions of the characters. Give me the old fashioned way. i don't like the Exile graphics because i do like the 3D world.

It will take some time until I start understanding the world of geneforce. but thanks for the advice, I will try geneforce 1.
