Oh right. I put my name down here. But I have not received any embers of rebellion via the email. That's why I haven't sent any reports. I can only hope that I was not intentionally left out. Wah!

Well, I usually don't get intrigued and certainly don't wonder what some weird machines do. They do something. It's none of my business to find out what.

quote:
Insert game, the display read. Smoo happened to have his BoA scenarios with him, so he dropped one in.
At least I didn't drop in Backwater Calls. The horrible plot (holes) would have surely destroyed the script.

quote:
Behind them, the summoning machine created an exceptionally gigantic and ugly rat. Smoo gulped.
But is it a gigantic, ugly, brown rat or a gigantic, ugly, black rat? Oh, the cliffhangers!

Betcha you haven't. I simply say this because I refuse to acknowledge any possible bugs. The rewards isn't too great for finding the snake though. You only get a couple of potions and xp.

The chief would be in the room east of the platform. You can get there by going through the door in the middle of two nephilim statues. Then follow the hallway east until you come by a double door and go through there. Assuming you haven't killed everyone in that room as well.

Actually now that I think about it, the snake was originally supposed to be in a predetermined bush. After I figured I could make the snake appear randomly I just placed the special rectangle around every bush that I had already placed in Tampere. It could be that I didn't realize that bush was practically out of bounds, or maybe I did. Meh. I work in mysterious ways.

I was joking. Although now that I think about it, if I did replace the villain in my upcoming scenario with a generic demon lord then the scenario would be absolutely horrible.

I have actually considered making a demon scenario that would concentrate on why the demons are "evil." I'll probably never make it though since it would just turn out to be another monster plague scenario. And I'm up to here with (my) monster plague scenarios.

Edit:
quote:
Attorosi fared poorly because... well, no offense, but he's a rat. You would really have to pull out all the stops to make a top class villain with a rat.
But he's a very big rat... I suppose you weren't intimidated by his threats then.

Looks like the Dilecia.txt file isn't inside the Dilecia folder in the zip file. Simply move the text file into your scenario folder (and possibly restart) and you should be fine.

And Tyran should fix this.

Icon Adjust? in Blades of Avernum Editor

I can't get some of the xx_icon_adjust calls to work properly. More specifically the values 128, 256 and 512 are supposed to tint the graphics red, green and blue but they won't work. The weird part is that the 3D editor adjusts the graphics correctly but BoA itself won't. Observe:

IMAGE(http://koti.mbnet.fi/simop/Image2.jpg)

Here we have five vahnatai strolling the streets. The ones on the right and left side haven't been adjusted but the three in the middle have been. Also the plants and grass behind them have been adjusted. Everything works fine. Now take a look at this screenshot:

IMAGE(http://koti.mbnet.fi/simop/Image.jpg)

This is an in-game screenshot. Notice how every adjusted object looks exactly the same.

Anyways, my question is this: Is this a bug that all Windows users experience or is it only me?

I have fixed the bugs Salmon mentioned and have uploaded a new version on my website. Also regarding that bug about the missing Sneak: I briefly considered making a cutscene about how Sneak and his men DID come to their collective senses and abandoned their life of crime. But I got lazy. Maybe I'll add that later.

You don't have to milk a cow if you blow up Horatio. Fresh milk is one of the ingredients for his spell, remember?

Thanks to Niemand Rats Aplenty is now available for the lazy Mac user who doesn't want to convert the graphics himself.

I'll fix those things Salmon mentioned. A little later.

I seem to remember gorgons hanging out with gremlins in Exile 3. They breathed a sleep cloud or something. I can't even remember if they did this in Avernum 3 or if they even hung out with gremlins. Or maybe I'm confusing them with something else.

While BC could have been better, it certainly wasn't a bad scenario. Besides, most first efforts tend to be under par.
Maybe. But if I were to make BC today, I wouldn't make it. The only reason I made it in the first place was to familiarize myself with the editor. The plot is lacking (what plot?) and I just don't see why I would want to make it.

Heck, I haven't started alpha testing LoD in ernest, and I already hate parts of it.
That is a very healthy attitude. But don't be shocked if someone actually *gasp* likes your scenario when you release it!

Backwater Calls: Let's see, I'd try to flesh out the demons more. (Even though they are demons, I'd try.) I'd probably remove either the sliths or undead, maybe work with the goblins some more. I'd make the outdoors more compact. Maybe add some more stuff involving the rebels. I'd come up with another reason for the player to be in the valley. And finally I wouldn't make the scenario.

Magus of Cattalon: Hmm... I suppose I could make Polonius reveal the thing involving the blessing and the children. The nephilim could have used a bit more work too. There was more but I can't remember them now.

Rats Aplenty: Currently I have no major gripes about Rats Aplenty. They'll come, though.

Edit: I now have both the windows and mac versions on my site.

Anyways, you can download the scenario here. Hope you have fun. I will send the scenario to Spiderweb as well so it should appear on their tables in, oh four to six months. Unless someone prods them about it.

It was our good friend the Unhandled Exception! Huzzah! It was caused by these two calls inside a creature script:
erase_char(my_number());
activate_hidden_group(2);
The hidden group two here being the same character that got erased. I guess BoA didn't like that the same character was respawned after it was erased.
