Another constant to watch out for is "shop". I don't know if this has a VALUE or not, but if you use it as a variable, your script will crash.

I'll spare most of my words on this subject. Just, what I do feel is thus (which I tried to indicate by my Tom Tomorrow snippet):

Okay. So marriage is a religious and romantic union that means the world to you. That's great. But isn't your personal (hell, perhaps even spiritual) choice being cheapened when you require government involvement to verify its worth?

Ultimately, two people are going to be economically dependent on one another and will require unions for non-romantic, platonic/filial/familial purposes. For instance, siblings who are living in their parents' house. That is as much as ANY relationship (with the exception of children) should mean to the state. To support infringement on people's relationships any further is to assert that the relationships are hollow and weak enough that state involvement is necessary for their continuation, which I think is absurd.

Yeah, that's basically it.

As for the scripts: A warning, but you'll have to make them all one after another. For instance, if you want to have one of three possible things happen and the scripts would have to be in order-- 10, 11 and 12; 21, 22, 23, 24 and 25; etc. (Or you could just assign a variable the random number value and "reassign" it with a series of checks, but that's a bit more work than is preferable.)

EDIT: It was also human nature that she loved it.

If you like most of SW games, odds are you'll still like BoE/BoA... but it's a different experience.

In general, BoX adventures tend to be far more "compacted" than an Exile/Avernum game, the plot tends to move a lot quicker, combat varies wildly from one scenario to the next, plots can range from the mundane (a monster plague) to the exciting (run for your life) to the truly bizarre. Combat can range from moderately difficult to hard to nonexistant, and can redefine the rules at will.

But if you buy Blades of Exile, it's almost guaranteed that there will be a great deal of scenarios you will find entertaining. Not all of them (some are puzzle-heavy, some are combat-repetitive, etc), but a great deal.

And each time A4 crashes, you go and restart it?

I think the problem isn't with A4, it's with you. By crashing, A4 is doing you a favor.

Or, if you really must, you can have different "versions" of the town when events occur.

Or you could just make each building its own town.

That's great. As for what he does, could you make him swing the censer a little when he attacks? And don't bother adding "spell effects" (like sparkles or whatnot), I can just as easily add those myself.

(Thanks in advance!)

I envision what the party will do and where they will go. I envision what characters the party will meet and where. Basically, what is important to me and ONLY what is important to me, I will know what I am doing before I start designing. Everything else, I can figure out along the way.
