A censer indeed emits smoke... But I don't need that. -------------------- * Posts: 6936 | Registered: Tuesday, September 18 2001 07:00 |

Oh, come on. Editing out the flail would be easy. My request is to change the flail into a censer. I would have use for that. -------------------- * Posts: 6936 | Registered: Tuesday, September 18 2001 07:00 |

And keep in mind, you get both a ludicrously powerful bow (Adlerauge) and a ludicrously high level of Create Illusions (10) in Canopy. In fact, if you're playing this scenario with a party that has not been through Canopy, you are making a mistake in general. :P -------------------- * Posts: 6936 | Registered: Tuesday, September 18 2001 07:00 |

Holy hell. Why do you people produce such dry and uninteresting topics? I blame my dropping in participation on the boards's sucking. -------------------- * Posts: 6936 | Registered: Tuesday, September 18 2001 07:00 |

I mean, if you want to make a passable scenario once in a while, maybe we'd be more generous with you. -------------------- * Posts: 6936 | Registered: Tuesday, September 18 2001 07:00 |

quote:This is a good attitude to have. If you say you have experience in Blades (particularly the more technical aspects), learning to adapt to BoA shouldn't be TOO difficult. One thing that helped me was to work on a "test scenario"-- that is, a scenario where all I do is test scripts. BoA has oddd quirks, and it's good to get used to them before you get started. EDIT: Oh, and PS- While it's poor form to audition for artists or scripters, people here are usually quite good about helping you with scripting problems or requests for specific graphics you'd need. You know, you don't NEED to send a .cmg file. We can make one ourselves (though it doesn't go the other way around). -------------------- * Posts: 6936 | Registered: Tuesday, September 18 2001 07:00 |

Make something small first just so you know what you're getting into. If you make a scenario with 1 friendly town, 1 dungeon with 2-3 levels and maybe 1 sidequest, you'll know how much work you'll need to do if you want to make a scenario ten times as big. Strip the characters of invulnerability, do the damage, then give them their invulnerability back. (Or you can be like me and take it back withOUT returning it.) -------------------- * Posts: 6936 | Registered: Tuesday, September 18 2001 07:00 |

I'm not particularly anxious to see a sci-fi RPG, but considering the direction that E3/A3 and A4 are taking, nevermind GF, it doesn't seem like that great of a leap. What about a type of game that is truly different, yet still can be written fairly easy using stock fantasy design? How about a Native American game, where magic is replaced with shamanism, and perhaps even prayers from the christian missionaries? What about making a game like Nethergate, but with Aztecs and Conquistadors instead of Celts and Romans? Or what about a game set in the heavens during an apocalypse, where the PCs are demi-gods or angels serving under a god, being sent to a war-ravaged earth to destroy the enemies of their chosen deity? Man. The possibilities are endless. -------------------- * Posts: 6936 | Registered: Tuesday, September 18 2001 07:00 |

Three scenarios for BoE seems a little harsh. (If I chip something in, it will be four, which is still a diminutive number.) In fact, splitting BoA into two categories also seems harsh. I guess the way I'd do it is like this... There would be five categories: Best BoA Scenario, Best BoE Scenario, Best Large Scenario, Best Small Scenario, and Best Newcomer. A scenario automatically gets two assignments (BoA or BoE, Large or Small), and gets Newcomer if it qualifies. If a scenario is a finalist in any of the above categories, then it moves on to Best Scenario. This way, people with pro-BoE or pro-BoA sentiment don't necessarily harm the chances of a scenario. Same goes for size. -------------------- * Posts: 6936 | Registered: Tuesday, September 18 2001 07:00 |

quote:You have no idea. If size (of good or better quality) was a contest-winner, Emulations would not have beaten AC3. Quintessence would not have beaten Spears or AC2. Falling Stars wouldn't have beaten At the Gallows. Plus, keep in mind that most of the longer-standing members of the community at The Lyceum (ie, those who will most likely be judging) have preferred MA to Bahss. (Heck, some of 'em have preferred DoK to Bahss.) Olympia isn't always fair, but it's more fair than the Vogel family. -------------------- * Posts: 6936 | Registered: Tuesday, September 18 2001 07:00 |

quote:Not particularly true. Avernum is based off of Exile, which was around 2 years before Fallout. (Avernum, for instance, adds precious few stats that weren't actually in Exile. It also uses a system which works in 5% increments ala D&D, whereas Fallout works in 1% increments ala Rolemaster.) -------------------- * Posts: 6936 | Registered: Tuesday, September 18 2001 07:00 |
