Personally, I think profanity is one of the most creative and fast-evolving aspects of language. 'Ass' - well, you're using, it got past the censor, so fine. By 'F', do we mean 'fiddlesticks', once a shocking obscenity, I'm sure. As to 'B', you can't mean 'bollocks', a word not recognised by American spellcheckers, but meaning variously a Scottish priest or the testes, depending on whether you're rguing for the Sex Pistols' key album's title to be censored or not in British courts.... (It wasn't, BTW). EDIT: If 'ass' is OK, what about 'arse', a fine, old Chaucerian word meaning the same thing over here? Yeah - where do all these stereotypical American teenagers get their coke from anyway? Ollie North was out of that business (and from what I last saw of him, seriously going the Elvis / cheeseburger route) years ago. As too much is being made of toking the odd harmless joint, too much is being made of the 'sex crime' thing here too. In UK, average age of first sexual intercourse is 15 (which means many well under that) while the law sets 16 as the age of consent, or 18 without parental permission. As long as it's within the teen's own peer group (i.e. similar ages involved) and is safe, policing this strikes me as likely more damaging than turning a blind eye to such massive disregard for statute. JF, as you may have noticed, is wholly impervious to irony. Sort of interesting to hear how much he respects Clinton though. I must treat my interns likewise. Posts: 2333 | Registered: Monday, January 7 2002 08:00 |

I do night admin in a warehouse - doing the paperwork for the poor little men feeding cages to the great big trucks. Giving the conditions, I laugh that one of our suppliers is called 'Roach Foods'. I was kidding earlier when I said I worked as a male escort. Like they'd pay me.... Posts: 2333 | Registered: Monday, January 7 2002 08:00 |

I voted for OM as my sense of humour is more disturbed than you could ever imagine. I voted oil too, as Dow and the auto-Reich couldn't function w/o it either. Posts: 2333 | Registered: Monday, January 7 2002 08:00 |

Deliberately costing hated temp. employers £1,000,000s in lost documentation (I used to work in inance on a low level) or damage are hardly the 'worst' (most illegal) things I've done, but I wouldn't want to compromise others by citing joint crimes, even anonymoudsly here. I suspect no one but me was surprised to discover I'm a Royal Pain. I probably overplayed the jokes at the expense of the undead bovines. The cynicism is right, I suppose, though the paranoia is underplayed. ![]() Alorael - Azathoth was the heart of HPL's universe, the supreme diety. You should be so proud...! Ha, ha! No, I think you'd have to have been locked in a cupboard throughout your entire formative years to find anything either particularly objectionable or arousing about either of these images. And I agree that they have some artistic merit. BTW, I was saying Jeff was our role model. None of us are Chippendales. ![]() Posts: 2333 | Registered: Monday, January 7 2002 08:00 |

Yep, I'm mildly disappointed that blokes tend to be represented as brainless, musclebound warrior types (like Arnie in 'Conan') in fantasy contexts. This doesn't represent the reality of our manhood which, when it comes to RPGers, tends to the bespectacled and geeky, with stick-like ET limbs coming from getting no more exercise than lifting the occassional mouse. I suppose we can thank Jeff for challengiong pernicious fantasy stereotypes by having his own graphic portraying him as podgey and (I recall) mildly bearded. Still, Jeff aside, eye candy for the ladies, eh? Posts: 2333 | Registered: Monday, January 7 2002 08:00 |

Hi. When I checked out the site, it said that all the Mod slots had gone. Otherwise I'd encourage others to responsibly fill this role. Is this a TCOA II or some sort of duplicate? Posts: 2333 | Registered: Monday, January 7 2002 08:00 |

A friend of mine lives in NW Penn, in a trailer no less, right under the track of where the hurricane is likely to go according to the news six hours ago. Still, they burn out quickly over land. I guess there's so much fuss aboyut Isabel because it's so much further N than usual. Might reach NY State, etc, though I remember being caught on the highway in W Virginia when an ex-hurricane (reduced to a tropical storm) came through. You should have seen the trucks scatter. We're getting them in UK now too, BTW, all the way across the Atlantic from the Caribbean from thanks to the Gulf Stream. Only affecting the S coast now and none too dramatuically unless you live in Pevensey (where William the Conquerer landed), now often below sea level. It wasn't the drugs that killed him. It was more embarassing than that re. his rock star image, though appropriate to his deeply narcissistic personality. No, Lord opf Evil, I definitely remember you contributing to a debate about homeopathy by asking how clinically useful vampire bats would be for blood-letting. You might remember I was on about how hospitals were using maggots to clear dead tissue from wounds. Others might remember you were calling yourself something else at the time though... BTW, it wasn't the bathing that killed Jim Morrison and he certainly wouldn't have got away with what did in Japan--where they bathe communally--unless his fellow bathers had exceptionally liberal attitudes.
