I'm thinking about trying my hand at this scenario designing thing, but having problems actually putting it together. I got a story in mind, and I have been toying with the editor trying to learn how it all works. For the most part, I understand it. I'm still working on scripting, it is what I'm having the most difficulty with. I feel it should be easier then this, but I guess I have never done anything like this before. Is it hard for most people to get the scripting at first, or is just my stupidity getting in my way again? -------------------- "Yeah-- you're right. You christians are far too persecuted nowadays. I suppose few would want to try killing themselves when they can do anything in their dream. EDIT: Maybe someone should start another topic about what people did in there lucid dreams? Dolphin, do you dream like this often? I was only able to this "lucid dream" thing once, and that was about three years ago. (I think...) Also, if your able to feel like a lucid dream is real, even though you know its fake, is it possible to kill yourself somehow? -------------------- Part of me wants to say, "Well, it's good enough for me, and it's my damn scenario," but another part of me sort of wants to hold back. The only reason I will be seeing it is because my best friend will be dragging me along, and he literally is forcing me. The last time I did that it turned out to be huge mess. I would rather avoid it, but if I don't get any other ideas I will have to give it a try. -------------------- "Yeah-- you're right. I just started up BoA only to find that something has gone wrong with my screen resolution for the game. It has become this very small box on my screen, making gameplay difficult. I tried telling the game to ask me upon startup whether or not to change the game's resolution, but much to my dismay, it did not work. Any possible help would be greatly appreciated. -------------------- "Yeah-- you're right. You christians are far too persecuted nowadays. I mean it. I agree that the Demonslayer isn't a great weapon in actual combat, but I'm interested in the history behind it. When I think of Avernum and weapons, Demonslayer is what comes to mind. I don't beleive there is another weapon with near as much histroy. -------------------- "Yeah-- you're right. You christians are far too persecuted nowadays. I mean it. Actually, my favorite weapon is the Demonslayer. In my own mind it is the most famous weapon to grace Avernum with it's presence. But it wasn't a choice.... :( -------------------- "Yeah-- you're right. You christians are far too persecuted nowadays. I mean it. I know I sound stupid, but how exactly do I obtain the latest version of BoA? I think I would just re-download the game, but that would consist of me getting a new registration code. It seems like alot of hassle for an update. Is this the only way or am I missing something? -------------------- "Yeah-- you're right. You christians are far too persecuted nowadays. I mean it. Not sure exactly how many years ago this happened but I'm glad it did. I was home one Saturday, extremely bored when I decided to look for ANYTHING to keep me occupied online. I decided to look for "online games," and after searching through a tremendous amount of boring games found a link to Spiderweb. It looked nice and what-not, so I gave Avernum 1 a try. And guess what? I did not like it. So I tried Avernum 2. And guess what? I did not like it. So I gave up on Avernum and tried Nethergate. And guess what? I loved it. I beat it and some time later I gave Avernum 3 a try. And guess what? I loved it too. Though I was terribly lost as far as past events in the world of Avernum, I could not stop playing. After I beat it I gave the other two a try. While I still like A3 much better, the other two are now much more enjoyable. Other spidweb games followed and I have enjoyed them all, thusfar. -------------------- Part of me wants to say, "Well, it's good enough for me, and it's my damn scenario," but another part of me sort of wants to hold back. Amazing job Kelandon. I will begin to worship the ground you walk upon... Anyway, I do plan to leave a review but first I have to beat it. Since I'm stuck on the Machinery level, and don't want to use a guide, its not happening anytime soon. Sorry. -------------------- "Yeah-- you're right. I find it amazing that Overwhelming would want to go through all of this. For someone who claimed he wished to serve the community, he has caused a great deal of disruption. Overwhelming, why were you willing to risk the life of your website to keep Kelandon's work? I just do not undestand why you would risk your site for something that could be obtained at a different location. If you wanted people to know about Kelandon's work, then the link would have been a simple solution to this dilemma. Ultimately, I hope this will set a precedent that will help to solve such problems in the future. -------------------- "Yeah-- you're right. You christians are far too persecuted nowadays. I mean it. You have an amazing talent for making conversations very intriguing Kelandon. I am afraid I have never played BoE, but I will say this whole topic has inspired me to buy it (at least when my next paycheck comes in). I have no interest in making scenarios, but I can tell you all work hard to do something for free. Especially considering your feelings with Jeff Vogel for not providing more help in the days of BoE. For all intents and purposes, I am a newbie who has not played any other Spiderweb games outside of all of the Avernums and Geneforge 1+2. A little bit of the first Exile, but I had to put it down. When I first came to these boards I personally beleived I was not "shunned" in any way, though, like my previous statement, I have nothing to do with the scenario aspect of the Blades community. Well, there was an instance where I first encountered Alorael. Nothing bad, I doubt Alorael remembers it anyway, he was very nice about it too, so I think it was a good thing for me. The people here, for the most part, have struck me as intelligent and kind. Maybe I just need to be around longer to see instances like the one with Solberg. Sorry if this comes off as more of a rant then anything else. -------------------- Part of me wants to say, "Well, it's good enough for me, and it's my damn scenario," but another part of me sort of wants to hold back. Before you came to the graves there was a book somewhere in a library that had the oath of the dark cult that used the cave as a base. On the gravestones are portions of the oath that you must read in order, to light all the torches in the same room and open a secret passage. If you can not find the oath book, then read the gravestones until a torch lights and until you can figure out the entire pattern. -------------------- "Yeah-- you're right. Has it ever bothered any other person that you are unable to put anything into drawers, dressers, and the like? In Nethergate this was a possibility, and one I used alot, at least when I played as Romans. All my treasure hordes would look much nicer if I could just stick them in something, instead the Demonslayer is forced to lay on the floor like common house trash! There might be a way to put items inside of boxes and what not, but I have yet to see it. If there truly is no way, then why was it removed from Avernum? If anyone knows that is. -------------------- "Yeah-- you're right. You christians are far too persecuted nowadays. I mean it. I have not been here long either, but I can already tell Karma means little to nothing. At least for me, I started a account here only so I could help people out and ask for it when I need it. But, I have come to enjoy this forum for more then that, and, as long as I'm having fun and the world does not hate me, Karma is not important. Side Note: I wonder who was the single person who voted on my Karma.... -------------------- Part of me wants to say, "Well, it's good enough for me, and it's my damn scenario," but another part of me sort of wants to hold back. Is there some reason why you need to know? I do not think there really is a place just for Elemental Hydras, in any Avernum game. Your best bet would be to find an enemy that can summon them and do whatever with them then. Actually, I think Vampires can summon them.... -------------------- "Yeah-- you're right. I often wonder how certain names are pronouced in Nethergate. I have my own ways of saying things, but that of course does not make them correct. So what would be the correct way? 1. Annwn (Never been able to come up with one) 2. Aethdoc ( eth-a-dock ) 3. Goagh-Nar ( gog-na-vor ) They may seem strange, but that is how I say them because I could never figure out their proper forms. -------------------- "Yeah-- you're right. Refocus Lasers, does take you back to square one. It basically turns off the lasers so you can not load slime components and get it to explode. So......you must now start over. As I recall, there are alot of buttons on that panel, but I only know what those ones do. Ah, Alorael might know, he seems to know everything about Spiderweb in general. -------------------- "Yeah-- you're right. You christians are far too persecuted nowadays. I mean it. Most people are stubborn these days anyway, few tend to change their ways/beleifs. I am not exempt of course, I can be stubborn. Unless someone goes through a drastic life altering event or obtains some great revalation, most will stick to their own ethic code, or what they were taught as childeren, and sometimes, both. I will debate, but I never expect to convert my opponent. Of course it can be fun to catch them in their own words if anyone knows what I mean. -------------------- Part of me wants to say, "Well, it's good enough for me, and it's my damn scenario," but another part of me sort of wants to hold back. I am sorry, I typed that sentence and now I look like a fool. I meant, "does she escape death by UV rays?" I can lose my head, even when talking about the coolest person ever in a game. That sounds nice, if horribly evil. I will have to wait till I get through E1 and E2 before E3. I went through Avernum out of order and I regret it, just a little anyway. But it will be fun to kill that alien like freak... Which raises another question for me, does Lady Erika die in Exile? Or does she avoid horrible death by means of UV rays? -------------------- "Yeah-- you're right. You christians are far too persecuted nowadays. I mean it.
