The most one could do is record the ID number of the item in a word processing document and then use the editor to give it back to you when you want it. -------------------- You're a moron if you think I'm not. Posts: 213 | Registered: Friday, March 26 2004 08:00 |

I think you're right in guessing that the save file keeps track of data even if it is not used in a scenario (for example, if a scen doesn't do anything to SDF (300,30), the save file still keeps track of it.) That seems to be the most logical reason for such a huge (relative to other Spiderweb saves) file. -------------------- You're a moron if you think I'm not. quote:Uh-oh, s'ghetti-o! This is no doubt a bug not exclusive to RoR. Better give Jeff a call after some testing. I'd do this myself, but I'm, uh... occupied (lazy). I'm not apt with custom graphics yet, so could someone test out this bug? -------------------- You're a moron if you think I'm not. Posts: 213 | Registered: Friday, March 26 2004 08:00 |

The already existing dungeon articles are excellent, but it would be nice to read a new article on dungeons, this time taking into account BoA's engine. -------------------- You're a moron if you think I'm not. Posts: 213 | Registered: Friday, March 26 2004 08:00 |

Prelude to Pestilence is a Realmz scenario. You are thinking of Valley of Dying Things. When you download BoA, there is a walkthrough for the starter scenarios. -------------------- You're a moron if you think I'm not. Posts: 213 | Registered: Friday, March 26 2004 08:00 |

Yeah, I was about to say that, but the thing is that the party will leave the entire scen, thus erasing the SDFs. [ Tuesday, April 20, 2004 14:02: Message edited by: Eldiran ] -------------------- You're a moron if you think I'm not. Posts: 213 | Registered: Friday, March 26 2004 08:00 |

You get a penalty if you have no lockpicks. I don't know how much the penalty is, but if you are trying to open a door at the same level as your skill level, you cannot open it. It has to be a certain amount below. -------------------- You're a moron if you think I'm not. Posts: 213 | Registered: Friday, March 26 2004 08:00 |

The option to end conversations is always enabled except for when you use begin_talk_mode() to enter the conversation. When you use this call there is no "Done" button in the corner. -------------------- You're a moron if you think I'm not. Posts: 213 | Registered: Friday, March 26 2004 08:00 |

Wow. I gave up fighting the four ruby skeletons using a singleton (who entered the scenario at level 7). I was able to defeat them, but not without using all my abilities (Divinely Touched, and the two javelins I had left after I was trapped.) After using up what I had I was unable to manage fighting the vampires, etc. The ruby skeletons are really strong; especially in those positions against one person with only one level of priest. Its a pretty tough scenario, overall. The only flaw I've found so far is (aside from a few bugs like the Guards not loading, typos, and being able to see stairs outside from in the inn) that the plot is kind of nonsensical (he built an altar in a tunnel while running away to spawn some vampires?) 'Tis a good scenario. -------------------- You're a moron if you think I'm not. Posts: 213 | Registered: Friday, March 26 2004 08:00 |

I would much prefer that there are no computer repairmen than there are computers that need to be repaired. If one is skilled enough to repair computers, they could probably get another job, I think. If computers weren't originally made with problems, people wouldn't become tech supporters for them in the first place. I would also prefer to learn to solve problems by other ways rather than tinkering with my computer when I need a paper printed by the next day and the computer breaks down. I also don't think America is impressive enough for you to prove your point by it. Even if it is the best country in the world, it is still full of corruption, waste, stupidity, and hatred. Don't think I'm just criticizing someone else's country; it's mine, too. I'm American. The majority is ignorant; this is why there are so many problems in the world. Either way, though, this argument is pretty much futile. -------------------- You're a moron if you think I'm not. Posts: 213 | Registered: Friday, March 26 2004 08:00 |

Complaints on the troublesome call names... in Blades of Avernum Editor | |

I want to complain about the call names in BoA... I was hoping for the calls to be more, well, standardized. For example, in some calls dealing with characters you spell out "character" in the call name and in others you spell out "char". This alone is really annoying, and there are other problems of the like, such as "special" and "spec" when it comes to certain special item calls. While I know fixing these will cause problems to those already working on scenarios, I still think it's a worthwhile thing to do, and I would be willing to redo some of my scenario's script (I'm working on one) in exchange for making things simpler. Basically, I made this into a topic instead of an e-mail to Jeff because I want to see how many people want this, and are willing to edit through their scenario to get it. On a side note, hidden classes, when you kill them, are not counted as killed. If a char_ok check is made once a hidden class is slain, they are still ok. Activating the same hidden class twice (after the first has died) yields two of the same monsters. This could be bad, as in the case of checking char_ok, but also good in some cases. Not that this has much to do with the topic. I just wanted to make this bug(?) known. -------------------- You're a moron if you think I'm not. Posts: 213 | Registered: Friday, March 26 2004 08:00 |
