I whole heartedly object! Obviously, I should play myself and Wil Wheaton should be cast as my husband. ;)

Seriously though, I am not as deluded as to believe he could pull it off. He's just not... motherly enough. And while I personally have often proclaimed Danny DeVito lovable, I highly doubt Wil could believably smother him with love. (That's deffinition 4a of 9 that the English language gives it in the Merriam-Webster dictionary online. I know some of you struggle with the concept. :P )

Ah, Easter.

We hosted 20, searched for 200 plastic eggs around the yard, and coddled 2 sick boys with the flu all while feeling a bit queazy myself.

A joyful time to all indeed.

I probably missed that episode, which is probably why I found the episode I saw as too complex and farout. Come to think of it, it was probably a season finale as 'To be continued...' sticks out in my defunct memory.

On the other hand, I very much enjoyed the entity of Q. So it must not be the nature of the entities but rather their personality or lack thereof.

TNG is my favorite Trek, of course. The original also has a warm place in my heart.

Voyager never really sat well with me. Captain what's-her-name seemed so... cold, empty, devoid... none of which exactly describes my impression but I'm not sure there's a word that does.

DS9 was fun for a while with the Ferengi and the shape shifter Otho, Otto? or something like that. The tie in of O'Brien made it seem more homey. But then thier storylines started getting more complicated and surreal. I quit watching after the encounter with the entities that exsist outside of time.

Enterprise suffered from too complex storylines form the get-go. I didn't hate it and I watched it if it came on, but if I had the choice between watching reruns TNG would have my time.

In other news, I have never seen an Aranclone and I am very sad because of it. :( Come on, send a bot my way.

Jewels, you're a reactionary cretin and I truly do not have time to deal with your nonsense. When I do have the time I might give your rambling pap a once-over to see if I can point out anything that makes you look like even more of a lying buffoon than usual, but I make no promises.

You are so good at blowing smoke! And I bet some people automatically believe your bull just because of how vehemently you say it.

So I guess Hillary is not a major left-wing critic of the war. She's only running for president next term and calling for an immediate pull out. And I also guess that she has never directly identified with herself. Really, I could understand why she would want to but I doubt that it's true.

A simple tldr probably would have saved you some more of that precious time that you don't have to waste on me.

I asked you nicely, but did you listen to me? No. Not that I'd expect you to.

Here is what the Democrats had to say about the 'record' that you seem to think is so obvious.

And for those that don't know, Desert Storm started August 2, 1990 and ended February 27, 1991.

quote:
"In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including al Qaeda members ... It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons."
- Sen. Hillary Clinton (D, NY), Oct 10, 2002

"There is unmistakable evidence that Saddam Hussein is working aggressively to develop nuclear weapons and will likely have nuclear weapons within the next five years ... We also should remember we have always underestimated the progress Saddam has made in development of weapons of mass destruction."
- Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D, WV), Oct 10, 2002

"The last UN weapons inspectors left Iraq in October of 1998. We are confident that Saddam Hussein retains some stockpiles of chemical and biological weapons, and that he has since embarked on a crash course to build up his chemical and biological warfare capabilities. Intelligence reports indicate that he is seeking nuclear weapons..."
- Sen. Robert Byrd (D, WV), Oct. 3, 2002

"We have known for many years that Saddam Hussein is seeking and developing weapons of mass destruction."
- Sen. Ted Kennedy (D, MA), Sept. 27, 2002

"We know that he has stored secret supplies of biological and chemical weapons throughout his country."
- Al Gore, Sept. 23, 2002

"If Saddam rejects peace and we have to use force, our purpose is clear. We want to seriously diminish the threat posed by Iraq's weapons of mass destruction program."
- President Bill Clinton, Feb. 17, 1998
(He at least indicates that he thinks there is still a threat.)

"Without question, we need to disarm Saddam Hussein. He is a brutal, murderous dictator, leading an oppressive regime ... He presents a particularly grievous threat because he is so consistently prone to miscalculation ... And now he is miscalculating America's response to his continued deceit and his consistent grasp for weapons of mass destruction ... So the threat of Saddam Hussein with weapons of mass destruction is real, but it is not new. It has been with us since the end of the Persian Gulf War.
- Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Jan. 23. 2003
I just love that last one. It's too bad they didn't all read the same record you have. Then they'd know better, right?

quote:
'Going' to pot? The Iraqis seem to be doing a pretty good job of running their own government. On election days, the insurgent groups literally stopped with the attacks and started guarding polling places.
You misunderstood. I don't unqustionably think that it will 'go to pot' without us there. Just that I don't seem to care much if they do.

quote:
I have a sneaking suspicion that the pessimism over the ability of Iraq to govern itself is motivated by a sort of subtle but awful racism - the same that feared when Saddam was executed that riots would break out, because obviously the Iraqis just love to beat each other up for no good reason like the children they are.
I have no qualm with the Iraqi people. They are no different from us. We have criminals in America just like they have criminals there. They just, unfortunately (and possibly due to a certain someone or group of someones not having a viable plan of action for creating one when they took out the previous one), seem to lack a stable government and police force to adequately deal with the insurgants (aka. criminals) in their country. I'd just rather let them deal with their criminals on their own. If they can handle it, great! If they can't... well, see statement above.

quote:
The large majority of violence in Iraq is directed towards coalition forces; polls conducted in Iraq consistently find that less than the margin of error think US forces are doing any good there or want them to remain there.
Correct me if I'm wrong, though. Haven't they been asking us to send more troops? Not that I really disagree with your statement. It's probably the same as with any country. People have differing opinions and differing views. Some want us there, some don't. I'd rather we weren't there, too.

quote:
Why did we wage this war? Blah, blah, blah. Alec is so smart. Blah, blah, blah. You are all dumb. Blah, blah, blah. It was obviously for the oil. Blah, blah, blah. Bow down and worship me now.
FYT

quote:
But Jewels, as I expected she would, blames Bush for the mess to the extent she has a problem with it at all. Of course: Bush is a wonderful fall-guy and allowing him to play the patsy prevents us from having to take the ugly step of wondering why he's done us so horribly wrong. You don't even have to get all the way through how he's done so.
And who do you blame? Well, lets review...

quote:
Thank god those WMDs probably don't exist, because if they did some pretty nasty people would probably have them thanks to Bush.

Note, and note well, that the reason for this war was not any of the stated reasons; it was to satisfy the ridiculous political yen of Bush's handlers.
Kinda looks like you're using the same fall-guy I am. Not for quite the same thing or in quite the same way, but then again you didn't really enlighten us with who we obviously should blame for the mess. And if you're implying that every American who voted him into office is to blame, well then, maybe you think we should stay there since roughly half the country created the mess.

But if I misunderstood your point entirely, I apologise. We can't all be as smart as you and you know very well how intelligent I am. I suggest using country bumpkin speak to succsessfully communicate with us country bumpkins.

Best wishes on your next character assassination of myself.

We went to Iraq because both the Republicans and the Democrats thought that Hussein had WMD's. Please don't make me dig out Clinton's quotes again. He thought Hussein had WMD's, too, long before Bush jr got into the runnings. He just didn't do anything about it.

We are still there because Bush is embarrassed at the failure to find any and is trying to make up for it by making sure Iraq is better off when we leave then it was before we came. In other words, we are still there because Bush made a mess of things and Bush thinks he needs to fix it.

He's not really on the wrong side for thinking so. Usually it goes without saying that if you make a mess, you clean it up. The problem is he's using the American's hard earned tax dollars and the blood of America's brave, young, men and women to do it with. The people are sick of being used to fix his mistakes and we want out.

I, personally, am ready to just pull out, but only because I am unattached to anyone in Iraq and I can handle that country, way over there, going to pot. My compassion for the innocents there has worn thin. It's probably not a good thing on my part but it's where I am.

I shiver in my boots knowing that you will be giving advice to people and getting paid to do it. :P

Currently mother of four who soon needs a part-time job. Will probably end up behind the counter of a local establishment asking 'would you like fries with that?'

If I could do anything for my vocation, today I'd choose to own and opperate a rollerskating rink. My visit to one on Tuesday led me down a memory lane overflowing with good vibes and great times. I love to listen to music, I love to rollerskate, I love to let other people give me their money... it'd be great! And I'd make it better then that stupid Skate America we have here, tell you what. No scooters on my floor, nooo sir. No regular shoes either, getting everything all scuffed up...

I love rollerskating! It's the closest thing I can get to dancing. I miss the rink at my home town, though. It was way better organized the Skate America here. Three times the kids and 1/4th the flow interruptions. Much better games too. Like when they played the song 'Hokey-Pokey' we'd actually gather around a big oval and do the Hokey Pokey. ...and sitting duck, and the limbo, and the dice game... All they's got here is stupid kiddie races. :(

I'm glad your hair's grown out again. You look much cooler with long hair.

I can't find my stereo. :(

I unpacked all my boxes and it wasn't in any of them. There's a few of Chris's boxes left but they don't seem big enough for the stereo and... the camcorder is missing, too.

I'm running out of places to look for them.
