The moment they stumbled upon the corpses of the wolves, Sullust could feel something snap inside of Guy. He himself was disturbed by the slaughter. Certainly a party of this size would have no need to kill a simple creature such as a wolf. "I said, who did this." Guy repeated, pointing at one of the fallen wolves. One of them stepped forward, a druid of some sort. "Hello friend, I am Brother Sequoia of the druids of Krell. I understand your plight, but we had no choice in the matter." "You understand nothing, and you are not my friend druid. I suggest you and your friends leave this place." Guy responded. "We have only defended ourselves." "You shouldn't have come here. None of you should be here. Your business is with the mountain, not with the forest." "You would have us climb to our deaths on those frigid cliffs?" "I would prefer that to what you have done here." With those words Guy kneeled at the closest wolf and slowly pet it. Though none could see it, a tear fell down his cheek. He then looked at Sullust. "You may leave me as well." "No, I think I shall stay. I wouldn't have made it this far if it wasn't for you. I'll not risk the same fate that befell me before." Sullust then fell silent looking around the forest. OOC: Since the party is rather large, this is the point at which we can split it up. Some can stay behind with Guy and Sullust, the rest can continue on towards the mountain. OOC: Guy spoke of old tunnels into the mountain, so I assumed Guy was leading Sullust to said tunnels. Perhaps agenda was the wrong word. I'm just trying to have Guy and Sullust search around the woods a bit before finding the other group. The campfire might or not be from the other party in the forest. After walking through the woods for several hours, Sullust and Guy stumbled upon an abandoned campsite. "This has been very poorly cleaned up," Guy stated "it is likely that the wolves have already found the trail of those who stayed here." "Well then they may need our assistance. Can you find the path as well?" Sullust asked. "My senses are keen, but even they are not at par with those of the wolves. I could lead you down the path, but it may take quite a while. The wolves will probably catch us before we catch them." "So what do you recommend?" "If they are unable to save themselves from the forests creatures, then we will be unable to help them. It would be best if we stuck to our agenda." "We've been searching these woods for hours, how do you even know this tunnel exists?" "Because I've been there before. The forest has become twisted and dark since then, but I believe I can still find the path." -------------------- Lt. But science proves no more than religion, so why categorize it with logic? I'd say my current role model is my 4 year old nephew. His mind isn't shaped into seeing things a certain way yet... -------------------- Lt. Sullust Cogito Ergo Sum Polaris Posts: 2462 | Registered: Wednesday, October 3 2001 07:00 |

IC: After another short nap Sullust felt strong enough to try and stand. Sure enough his legs still worked, though they were quite weak. He tried summoning the energy to levitate two rocks nearby, but it was too much for him and he collapsed onto the ground. "If you keep this up I won't be able to deliver you back to your friends in town in good condition," Guy said. "I came alone," Sullust responded. "Well then perhaps I can sell you to someone who's interested in a disobedient slave," Guy snickered to himself. "In the mean time I suggest you stop trying to over exert yourself. You've already lost much of your energy." "What hope do I have of climbing this evil mountain then?" Sullust asked. "Do not make the mistake of calling the mountain evil. Nature is neither good nor evil, it simply exists. Trying to fight against it will only make you suffer more. As for climbing the mountain, that is impossible. It hasn't been done since the ancient days." "Then what hope do I have of entering?" "Only a foolish king would leave a single path to his treasure..." Guy finished. He then started packing up gear. "Get ready, we leave soon." -------------------- Lt. Sullust Cogito Ergo Sum Polaris Posts: 2462 | Registered: Wednesday, October 3 2001 07:00 |

IC: Finally reach a small cliff, Sullust managed to drag himself off the mountainside into some shelter. The further he climbed, the colder the mountain seemed to get. The cold was an evil unnatural thing, piercing every bit of clothing he had. It's icy fingers seemed to reach inside of him and steal the warmth from his blood. I shouldn't have come here. Darkness fell around him, and all light was gone... [ Tuesday, August 02, 2005 07:48: Message edited by: Lt. Sullust ] -------------------- Lt. OOC: Might as well give this a try... IC: There is an ancient darkness in here. Lt. Sullust though to himself as he slowly scaled the mountain. He had started ascending the mountain three days ago and hadn't made much progress. His telekinetic powers were helping a bit, but they weren't much assistance in climbing a sheer rock face. With a bit of skill he managed to sending his grappling hook up another 30 feet. Sure he had heard the tale of the treasure, but that's not what he was interested in. It was the demon Órloki who had brought him to this mountain. Make no mistake, Sullust was no avenger, but this creature seemed to call to him. With a sigh he begain to climb the rope he just sent soaring into the air, hoping to ease his mind by confronting the creature. -------------------- Lt. It's more that the slimes were a problem they didn't know how to stop. The archer who did learn enough information was simply webbed down. If you ever play as a singleton and fight a group of spiders you'll find that this can happen quite easily, and with deadly effect even if you are a high level... -------------------- Lt.
