You could just see if the remainder is zero when divided by any number less than the square root of that number. It is definitely less coding. Of course, it may take a bit longer...

Alrighty, I've done some digging...

S = the set of all sequences of 0's and 1's

|P(N)| = |S|
|R| = |S|

Thus we have |P(N)| = |R|.

I'm not completely convinced by that little statement of yours that |R| = |P(N)

Using the techniques of Linear Algebra it can easily be determined. As for the use of it, the fibonacci sequence shows up in a surprising number of places. The function itself can be shortened to create an estimating function which is almost the exact same for large enough values of n.

But why would you do it that way when there is actually a formula for the fibonacci sequence?

You mean Fibonacci.
F(0) = 0
F(1) = 1
F(n) = F(n-1) + F(n-2)

I don't think it's all that difficult to program. The only difference perhaps is whether you choose to have F(0) = 0 or 1...

I thought the Continuum Hypothesis was that there is NO set whose cardinality is larger than that of the natural numbers and smaller than that of the real numbers (e.g., the rational numbers have the same cardinality as the natural numbers).

I think it's usually accepted as an axiom.

I felt that phrasing the question in that way might give away the first answer too easily...

I suppose that would've been interesting too, but the fact that so many people said false indicates to me that they would say it is similar in size to N...

I agree completely; however, a neither option isn't very appealing...

Also, there are infinite infinities, so saying one is 'larger' than the other is alright, if not slighly confusing...

Alrighty, time to test your reasoning skills. Supply an answer to each of the following questions. In addition, post your reasoning for said answers.

For your assistance, consider the following definitions:

N = The set of Natural Numbers (i.e. {1,2,3,4,5...})
R = The set of all Real Numbers
(0,1) = The set of all Real Numbers between 0 and 1, not including 0 or 1.

Continuum Hypothesis(simplified): There is a set whose size lies between that of the Real Numbers and the Natural Numbers.

Edit: Ok, you have gone. So who am I talking to?

That is most definitely a lie. 50% of the members have probably never posted and thus have no clue and don't care that he is leaving. Another 49% post once or twice and then leave. The remaining 1% is the active members and of those, I don't think 50% care either...

Internationally other countries have agreed to released around 60 million barrels of crude oil from their strategic reserves, the U.S. has agreed to release 30 million barrels of it's own supply. This is intended to help quell the rising gas prices; however, this crisis has been a long time coming and this will only put it off...

EDIT: And I believe the average of 2.85 was before the Hurricane. It's gotta be over $3 now.

If you want something which will force you to understand the math you are doing, get a Casio. If you simply want something that you can plug in and get the right answers get a TI.
