Personally, it sounds a lot more realistic than their usual jokes - pigeons, moon bases and mind-altering beverages, oh my. Too gritty? I don't know. I wasn't fascinated either, but I read the first three and am going to read the rest. Now if only he doesn't begin locking topics in the name of the Muffin, and deleting all his posts in them... ----- Oh, and I hope I'm not giving away too much here, but I've heard tales that Episode IV is well on its way to the first installment. [ Saturday, March 31, 2007 04:43: Message edited by: Dr. Johann Georg Faust ] -------------------- Encyclopaedia Ermariana • Forum Archives • Forum Statistics • RSS [Topic / Forum] My Blog • Polaris • I eat novels for breakfast. quote:Unless my memory of history class, Quo Vadis, and Nethergate are playing tricks on me, at least Augustus was one of the emperors who were worshipped as gods. We generally assume that there is no unified state religion, and while the emperor is glorified, he isn't worshipped to the extent the Roman emperors were. Evidence can be seen in the multitude of small local shrines which don't have much cross-regional influence, but which also aren't being oppressed by larger churches. In fact, the only powerful religion encountered in the game is the Anama (to a lesser extent the Divine Lucre). Non-canon history has the Anama scuffling with the Empire for power in the past, and it makes sense: Having people owe their greatest loyalty to an omnipotent being (interpreted by a priesthood, no less) instead of the will of the Emperor isn't good for the Emperor's authority. -------------------- Encyclopaedia • Archives • Members • RSS [Topic / Forum] • Blog • Polaris • NaNoWriMo Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair. I have a soft spot for the graphics of Avernum 3, so yes. Well, the best alternative would have been to invest into an entirely new art set that is based somewhat on the old Nethergate, but looks a bit better. But if they're going to reuse something, meh, I'm glad it's Avernum and not Geneforge. :P -------------------- Encyclopaedia Ermariana • Forum Archives • Forum Statistics • RSS [Topic / Forum] My Blog • Polaris • I eat novels for breakfast. I narrowly escaped being called "Ara". They'd called my Aran at Santharia for months already, so I asked that thad'd be used. Which means I'm now an Automatic Road Analyze/Archipelago west of Ireland/Cashmere Sweater instead of a parrot. Synergy is teh 1337. Also, can anyone name an example of a moniker not chosen voluntarily? Titles, hell yes, but names? Well, aside from, um, "Iffy", but that didn't really catch on. Also, when I said "What the hell are you talking about", I was referring to his theory that "AIM ID" was "something you want to be called". However did you arrive at that conclusion? -------------------- Encyclopaedia Ermariana • Forum Archives • Forum Statistics • RSS [Topic / Forum] My Blog • Polaris • I eat novels for breakfast. I had thought that a vague, undirected desire for romance was the lowest, saddest you could get. However, romantic feelings for a software company beat it by far. Forty-seconded. Alorael is the man for the job, obviously. But Alec, if you're going to make being a Jew one of the criteria, I'm going to have to draw the line at proposing Infernal for adminship.
