"Mr Moderator" reminds me awfully of "Mr Motivator."

Aran, are you actually black, a body-builder, and a fan of spandex?

Pretty much every subset of ET's name.

Why, because it's the identity one is aiming for. IMAGE(http://sa.tweek.us/emots/images/emot-pseudo.gif)

My understanding was that ADoS was self-referential. It's a given that he changed his own PDN, but do we have agreeance that it was a given, rather than chosen, name?

Not really, if you think of it that way then we chose Slarty, Salmon, AM, MM, etc. It's just an abbreviation and/or nickname obtained from their moniker. A moniker not chosen voluntarily (to me) would have to be us calling someone something that has to do more with their personality than the moniker they chose.

My first moniker wasn't Riibu, actually. I was briefly called ABG, but I quickly asked everyone to please call me what I'm known as now, and fortunately pretty much everyone did so. Except the new people who had no idea, and by then I changed my moniker to Riibu for a while. So I made it stuck before something else did.

You didn't actually choose Slarty; that nickname was given to me on a listserv called "Munchkin Fun" back in 2000, and I suggested it here before it was ever used, I believe.

Slartucker is a bit of a mouthful. I know I was calling you Slarty amost right away, but I didn't see anyone else doing it back then. It's kind of a gimme though, isn't it? So, I doubt I was the first to fashion a dimunitive out of your nomer. When I choose to crop and tack a -y to a name, it's either a sign of my affection or derision. You decide.

I narrowly escaped being called "Ara".

They'd called my Aran at Santharia for months already, so I asked that thad'd be used.

Which means I'm now an Automatic Road Analyze/Archipelago west of Ireland/Cashmere Sweater instead of a parrot. Good choice.

Aran + blond blue-eyed German makes me think "Aryan".

My eyes! They bleed! Such pain and watering never known before that photograph!

Edit: Needed to clarify that it was Aran's fault, and that my eyes don't typically bleed for no reason.

Hasn't it occured to anyone that Aran may be using a hazel-eyed pseudoclone to lure us into a false sense of security? Or that he might just have doctored the picture? Photoshop detected a colour cast. So, without further adeau: the real photograph.

Obviously, photoshop made a mistake. Behold! The REAL real photograph.

After the next PPP of General, will this thread conveniently disappear from both the boards and the archives?

Whew. Fooled them.

At least they didn't figure out the original color was this.

Yesterday I saw a random guy on the street, whom I sort of knew from school. And he looked a lot like Aran. Younger Aran, I'd say, but still.

It's like Aran is the embodiment of a universal nerd now, except he's much better than any copy we might see wandering out there somewhere. And seeing that random guy just made me yearn for Aran all the more, so... ^_^
