I actually suspect the boards may become less harsh if moderation steps up. Normal members have always moderated each other's behavior, and it works pretty well for newbies who make honest mistakes. But we don't have the authority to stop repeat offenders, so it gets coming up, and we keep derailing threads. That wears on people after a while, and it becomes more likely that they will be angry, rude, or dismissive instead of helpful. Plus, as more people get sucked into self-moderating and without a concrete standard of what is acceptable and what isn't to fall back upon, people develop their own ideas. This leads to confusion over what is allowed and more policing as people crack down on those who honestly shouldn't be telling others what to do.

It only takes one error in judgement or one temper to fray before a thread snowballs out of control. And there are so many of us that it happens a lot. Official mod responses are often final enough to prevent this bickering.

Dikiyoba, how do you explain that move to Finsbury Park? I blocked you the same way you blocked me. By the Red Spaniard Decision, you could only have moved passed me in that direction as far as Gloucestor Road, or perhaps Notting Hill Gate. At any rate, it's too late to challenge it, so I'll just move to Notting Hill Gate myself.

I initiate a Late Entrance gambit and move to Tottenham Court Road as laid out in the Montpellier Council of '67.

The Montpellier Council didn't meet in '67 due to the hurricane knocking over the orange grove. You must be thinking of the Monte San Savino conference, as that is where they repaired to after the storm. But FYI, the only thing they agreed upon that year was what to order for elevenses.

I choose to advance to Waterloo, abrogating the Treaty of Fontainebleau.

Edit: While I'm there, I could catch the Eurostar to Paris Gare Du Nord:

EDIT: Browser sanity uber alles.

I think the moderempirators should take all of the annoying posters/flamers and cast them into a pit forum. That's what they deserve: Exile.

We could design some complicated series of steps they would have to take to escape from the pit forum. Anything goes in the pit forum.

The sad part is that I just spent half a minute searching that map for Mornington Crescent before I realized what it was. Brain degrades around midnight, apparently. :(

Hah!
By touching me inappropriately, Dikiyoba has sent me, Sonic-style, to the end of the line with bounceback to Notting Hill Gate. I hop to green, as the orange is scary.

Mind the overpriced actor.

What the hell are you talking about, and how does it have to do with the London Underground?

I own the green. You are shunted via the fifth-third ordinal rule to Heathrow.

Damnit. Is that still an automatic 2 turns of confusion followed by three wrong turns and 30 quid taxicab ride to the wrong address?

Ah, but I'm camped at Hatton Cross, so you're forced to hike overland to Chesham with a pint of petrol parked on your head.

I don't want to give it away because that's part of the game, but it has something to do with what Aran recently said in this topic.

If you have an Arab-sounding name, you also lose an additional 8 turns, and experience the rubber glove.

Conversations always digress from the original topic, but this is actually ironic. Hawk gave a suggestion to be more kind to people, yet now this has turned into threads of cursing, sarcasm, and pointlessness.
