Edit: Stupid post removed.
The lesson for today: stay away from Internet when you are in very bad mood.

While J's exaggerated stories definitely left her open to criticism, rediculing the people who have left the community is the online equivalent of saying bad things about the dead.

Since J had not done anything destructive against the community, there is no excuse to keep insulting her after her departure. And the stories told about her seem to grow every time I hear them. At this rate, in a few months you will say that she claimed to have suffered all afflictions known to man.

There are plenty of targets for redicule who are still here and capable of protecting themselves, so you don't have to descend to attacking those who left.

What's particularly disgusting is the fact that some of J's biggest critics (not the people on this thread) are still using her free web space.

PS Full disclosure: I was J's friend when she was here and still keep contact with her.
More full disclosure: J was opposed to Desperance in Spidweb politics, so Djur (member #3092), TM (member #4), Alec (member #165) and Thuryl (member #869) have a personal reason to dislike her.

PPS And for those who try to contact J about Spidweb matters, it's a waste of time. As far as I know (and I might be wrong), she has permanently left and is not interested in being contacted by random people asking about web-hosting issues.

Since zeviz.thekavern.net is still down, I've reposted my pages back on geocities. So until further notice, please use http://www.geocities.com/zeviz1/ for Avernum 2 Guide and http://www.geocities.com/zeviz1/nethergate/ for Nethergate Guide

And to clarify again, my A2 page and Nethergate page are based entirely on Shrodinger's faqs. So when referring to either of those pages, please give credit to Shrodinger, rather than me.

PS Sorry that it took me so long to realize that I need to repost the page. I guess this is what happens when a page of a person who is no longer here is hosted by another person who is no longer here. :)

Even if your credit card number would get stolen, the company will pick up the bill for you. So there is no risk, as long as you check your monthly statements carefully. And I've heared of more credit card numbers stolen in regular stores then online.

PS And I can also say that I haven't heard any complaints about Spidweb. In fact, one time I accidentally payed them twice for the same game and they didn't charge my card the second time.

There is some object on the altar in the North-West corner. There is also some object in the fartherst part of catacombs. (To enter catacombs, go down the stairs in the garden in South-Eastern part of the map.) I don't remember which object is which and my Nethergate page is down. (My friend who is hosting it is having problems with her ISP.)

If I remember correctly, the altar is just a decoy, so check downstairs first.

Since I am extremely bored and I noticed that Arctic decloaked on this thread, I might also post something.

Let's see how many questions I can avoid while still giving technically correct answers.

»What is your name?
Zeviz (This name includes 2 letters from my real name.)

»What is your quest?
Currently, to avoid doing my homework.

»What is your favorite color/colour?
probably, a nice shade of blue

»What is your job (If you are unemployed, what prevents you from having more free time)?
Spending too much time in front of my computer. (This is a correct description of my major.)

»What are some books you like?
Books by Feichtwanger, Belaev and other authors you've never heard of.

»What are some movies/TV shows you like?
I don't have a TV.

»What are some computer/console games you like?
Currently, stuff by Spidweb and CrystalShrad.

»What are some bands you like?
»What are some musical pieces you like?
My computer doesn't have speakers. And my headset is too low-quality to listen to good music.

»Who are some of your favorite members on these boards?
If I've told you my real name, you are probably on the list. If I haven't, you are probably not on the list.

»What do you think various members look like?
I remember the picture of Shrodinger and I've just seen a picture of Khoth. In general, I don't have mental images for people until I actually see them.

»What do you look like?
average

»What did you have for lunch last Tuesday?
I was late to class, so I didn't have much time for lunch.

»What is your age?
It's the sixth number that is a product of 2 distinct primes.

»What is your species?
So far I've been assuming that it's human.

»What sort of computer do you use?
Currently, the one in school lab.

»What plane are you from?
Since all our instruments were created in this universe, we are unable to measure anything outside of its physical laws. So if there was another universe with other laws of physics, we would not be able to find out about its existence.

»Are you male, female, or "other"?
I am assuming that I am male. Please correct me if this assumption is wrong.

»How many holes do you prefer in the ceiling?
None. The hole in my wall that makes room cold at night is bad enough.

»When did you last brush your teeth?
Any number that I give will be valid for some timezone. So let's say 6am this morning.

»Do you feed lemons to your pet alligator?
My landlord has a no-pets policy.

»To whom are all your base belong?
If I was a leader of an organisation that keeps training bases for its members, you wouldn't expect me to admit that in public, would you?

»What region of the universe are you posting from?
As the solar system moves through space, its position in the universe changes constantly.

»What does (§³·ß)Ð/µª=ƒ mean?
Since § is not used as a variable in any field that I've seen, I am assuming that above formula is just a random collection of symbols.

»What is the appropriate usage of the word "EVOL"?
You would have to ask the person who made that word up.

»Do you own any medieval or medieval-style weaponry?
No, but some of my friends, including one of my housemates, do.

»Did I forget anything?
Since I don't have telepathic abilities, I can not answer that question.

Nethergate's Popularity in Nethergate

The main reason Nethergate is not as popular as Jeff's other games is its small size. It took me less time to finished Nethergate 2.5 times then to finish Avernum 2 once. This means that people don't spend as much time playing the game. And since they don't spend as much time playing the game, they are not as interested in discussing it.

I have a problem in Nethergate as the Romans. in Nethergate

To get there he had to use the "fight-end cheat", a cheat that lets you bypass some traps:
Wheneve you end combat mode your party moves a little. This can be used to "teleport" over traps. If you play around with this, you'll figure out a way to control the direction in which you move.

Be careful in the village of Nethergate as Romans. The traps are in many places so you should save often. (And since you aren't supposed to ever bypass any of the traps, you will not be able to talk to any NPCs there.)

By the way, actually breaking the tablets is not really necessary and very dangerous. Just look around carefully in the "test of faith" area (or whatever it is called) and you will find it.

BOA will use scripting system similar to Geneforge. So you'll be better off downloading Geneforge and looking in the scripts folder. You can also download Croicle's Geneforge Character Editor: http://quark.cs.earlham.edu/~croikle/ and play around with that. Compare it to the scripts that it replaces, try to change it, etc.

If you just want general practice making scenarios, you can download BOE. However, if you want to get a head start on the scripting system, you should try changing Geneforge scripts.

Avernum - Saving/Loading in Tech Support

In some copies of Avernum and Exile, when you save your game it sometimes forgets to add ".sav" extention on the end of filename. To fix this, you should use "Save As" instead of "Save" when saving your games.
To recover your lost file: If you open the folder to which the game saves your files (the folder that is shown in "Save As" dialogue) you should be able to find the savefile with the name you gave it. So if you add the ".sav" extention on the end yourself, you should be able to load the file without problems.

PS It's a very bad idea to always save into the same file. Sometimes you will get your party into a situation with no exit. So if you save in such a situation, without making frequent backups, you will lose your entire game.

Isn't it a bit too early to be fighting for positions on a forum dedicated to a game that hadn't even come out yet? :)

Being a moderator on this board is neither a popularity contest nor a honor roll. The main requirement is whether you would make a good moderator. And this is best judged by current moderators/administrators, because they are the ones who set the rules, so they know who is best fit to enforce them. Many game board moderators were selected without ever asking for a positions.

If moderators/administratos do think that you would be a good moderator, then such things as community participation and popularity will definitely help you. However, these things are just tiebreakers between qualified candidates. Just making good graphics/webpage/scenarios doesn't mean you'll be good in keeping order on the board.

So in counclusion, if you want to become a moderator, just be yourself. Answer people's questions. Participate in BOA community when the game comes out (making scenarios, graphics, webpages, etc.) And just wait quietly until you are contacted.
