Does TM's canning imply that he was Drakel?

Thanks for the clarification. Some of the things you've listed would make pretty fun classes that I wish I could have taken when I was in college.

PS I still imagine some people here as their iconboard avatars. (TM is the scary muppet he posted, Djur is a green frog, Drakey is an old man with white beard.)

PPS For those who are wondering where "canned" custom title for spammers came from, when this board had avatars, the people who were banned for spamming would have their avatar set to a can of spam and their title set to "canned".

If I remember correctly, this is one of the places where you have to disarm the mines in combat mode:

1. Go into combat mode and open the door.
2. Use a speed pod standing near the wall, so that you can's see the mines.
3. Run in, disable one of the mines, and run out in the same turn, hiding in the safe spot again.
4. If the other mine hasn't gone off, repeat step 3.

PS Here is a map of what I mean by a "safe spot":

I meant telneting into the databse server, logging into the database and typing something like: "INSERT INTO users (user_ID, user_name, user_postcount) VALUES ('00000021', 'Saunders', 1234);" (using whatever table and column names are used by UBB).

For an example of an even more obsessive organization: I had various kinds of items in separate piles in various cities. (Drypeak for quest items, pods and spores, Medab for weapons, armor and ammunition, etc.) Unfortunately, I can't do this in Geneforge 3, because it takes time to travel between cities.

Just make sure you don't make hostile the factions in whose cities you are storing stuff, unless you are ready to wipe out all the guards in town to get your stuff back. :)

Contgrats on getting your account back.

Why can't Drakey (or one of Spidweb people) just go into the database and manually fix the rest of missing accounts? Since Saunders is one of the first mods, I'd assume her account is important enough to restore manually.

There is a limited number of spots in your inventory. If your inventory is full, you'll still be able to pickup stackable items (such as pods), if you are already carrying some, but will not be able to pick up any items that would take a new inventory spot.

PS Dropped items always stay there, even if you leave an area for a long time. So you can solve inventory problems by making piles of items you don't currently need at an entrance to some town.

I think it would be hard to directly teach "critical thinking" as a "life skill", because only life can teach you life skills. I might use statistics or quantum physics as a metaphor for politics and relations between people, but I wouldn't be able to do that without real-life experience of how politics works and how people interact. Somebody who studied art, or plant biology instead of math would have different metaphors for describing the same things.

These metaphors enhance our understanding of events, but they can only form after we understand both the event and the material which we use for the metaphor. So I think it would be better to just give people a good understanding of the material you are teaching and let them apply that understanding to other areas of life as much or as little as they wish.
