All the monsters will be back too, but because you keep your stats, it will be much more easier the second time. I just completed the demo version of BoA. Here some of my first impressions - to all the poor fellows out there without a true computer ... There is a tutorial. Oops, really ...if somebody is not able to read docs and walktroughs, he will be overcharged with playing BoA, in my opinion. (Reminded me to that indescribable stupid helping computer, pre-installed in certain MS applications ...) o.k., if you endure that tutorial, you get 3 amber gems. After all. BoA has some new designs. For example you can have a pretty female(?) slith in a pink(!) hoodcape in your party ... Some NPCs show their portraits by talking to them (exonerates from own fantasy ...) *cough. New weapons and scrolls. Modern chairs and lockers. Drugs are mostly re-designed: Potions come in different phials, there are powders in pouches. Powders? hmm ... No, I didn't find skribbane now. New sounds, e.g. doors open now with a pneumatic hiss. Monsters: well known enemies from A3 - Golems, Altered Beasts - appear rather early in the game. Fortunately, they come alone or in twos only ... Gremlins are a new class of annoying foes: puzzling different appearences, not strong but small, hard to see and quick. Beware of their magic! Doors: totally modificated. The good thing: once opened, they stay unlocked, when you re-enter the place. The complication: to open locked doors, you need strenght or mechanical skill and lockpicks. Good old spell Open Door affects only the few magically locked ones ... damn. Spells & skills: Save Travel has been replaced by Enduring Barrier (whatever that means... a masochist thing?). In the first scenario you can buy only the first two spells until L2. No more fast raising of skills ... *sigh. But you can train your PC everywhere indoors - new comfort. Another new suitability: picking up Items goes - swsh, swsh - easy by clicking, without dragging one by one anymore. What an improvement! Money: Good news for collectors: The cap is at 30'000. Hourglasses increased in value. Healers (at least the one I met) offer a fixed price for service, no matter if they heal, raise dead or resurrect. Traps: They brought in the landmines from Geneforge! Nasty, especially early in the game. The nastiest thing: When you re-enter the place, all traps are re-activated. NPC: A skilled archer will follow your party after you have done a quest for him. LOL - I was searching the whole valley for a room to store one charakter ... before I found, that you can have 5 members in your party! But he does not appear in the characters, means: no training. Story: ingenious, once more. You must discover and eliminate the source of a water pollution, that sickens a whole valley. It appears that the source is a hidden waste depository with leaking barrels. I don't know, if the other three scenarios cohere with the first adventure, but I really appreciate this one. Environmental pollution is a very actual and urgent topic, especially, where the government couldn't care less. Thank you Jeff for sensitizing the playing children. Sorry for the talkative post ...*waiting for my registration code... :D ) (o (( hail BoA! -------------------- Slartucker: * facepalm facepalm facepalm * Dikiyoba: Are you unconscious yet? quote:^ you can emulate a mac ... Yes, mac hardware runs with mac OS (you could emulate a PC-surface as well). Apple is specialized on video-work and DVD - have a look at apple.com. My old PowerMac G4 has a ATI graphic card, but I think, you could use radeon as well - I'm not specialized in deconstructing hardware. As far I know, you can build in whatever you want, macs are very modifiable. Be warned: Once you use a mac, you would not want to go back to PC again ... -------------------- Slartucker: * facepalm facepalm facepalm * Dikiyoba: Are you unconscious yet? Drakey, Koth, why can't I buy level 2 spells in Sweetgrove and Marralis? Is it a question of PC-level? (I'm about 10) Or is it not possible in VoDT to raise certain spells up to 1 and I have to go to another scenario? -------------------- Slartucker: * facepalm facepalm facepalm * Dikiyoba: Are you unconscious yet? I found two spellbooks in the lecture hall of ruined school. They say, I could learn haste and ice lances here. But what level? My mage knows both spells already at level 1. YAP, just because you asked: your signature is a mystery for me. Because I do not fight my own flaws in others. When I see somebody, having the same blemish like me, I feel sympathy for this person and think: "Great I'm not the only fool". I rather would fight peoples faults, when they are totally different from mine. But anyway, I rarely fight. I'm an avoider. -------------------- ^ö^ Vegetarians are sexy. quote:points to the main reason, why I once attempted suicide, when I was much younger and horribly brokenhearted. As you can see, I failed, and I'm glad about. Would be somehow stupid and cowardly, to miss a whole life according to a silly mood. There is another argument: You can't escape. If life gives you some special tortures, it means, that you must learn something and go through that depression (or whatever). Because I believe in rebirth, I think, you would have the same mess again and again. Just kill yourself might give you a break - but in your next life, you will come exactly to the point, where you have been already. No escape. Of course there should be no ethic condemnation on suiciders. You can't say nothing against the wish of old and suffering people for an earlier death than natural. You can't even convict people, who are - not only in a temper - deeply bored by their lifes. I lost several friends by suicide, and I respect their desicion. But it's sad to hear from young people, fleeing life no sooner it began. Most of them don't know what they do. And most of teenage-suicides were not meant so. Probable. -------------------- ^ö^ Vegetarians are sexy. Solar power is the wave of the future. Posts: 1420 | Registered: Wednesday, October 2 2002 07:00 |

But the question to Alec's aim is still open. Why did he place that story here? Does he admire the unusual self-reflecting style of writing? Does he identify himself with a twelve year old boy killing his mother? Should we start a discussion about style and contents? Custer, reload! Explain us the insidious meaning of your post. Still inquisitive. -------------------- ^ö^ Vegetarians are sexy. Solar power is the wave of the future. Posts: 1420 | Registered: Wednesday, October 2 2002 07:00 |

This is a strange and fascinating story. It has a certain rhythm and reminds me to Laurie Anderson (who is one of my favorite artist btw). But I'm confused a little bit: Who is David Moser? Didn't Alec write the story himself? What would be the pupose to post whole stories, that ar not self written? )("((""" -------------------- ^ö^ Vegetarians are sexy. TM, hab keine Ahnung, wo die deutschen Bretter sind, bin nie in irgendwelchen Diskussionsforen ausser hier, aber ich kann nachschauen. The correct translation would be "Anzeigenbrett", but nobody uses that term. We say message board too or "Diskussionsforum" or B-log or "Schwarzes Brett" (that's more for pinned slips of paper).
