Fascinating.
Guess I'm not as up on BoE scenarios as I thought I was.
I've been doing alot of other stuff lately, so if it isn't on Alcritas' review page, I probably haven't played it (not to sound pompous or holier than thou...I just mean that the review page is the one I tend to trust most). I saw the Echoes series on TM's site, but I hadn't gotten around to playing it.
I don't think I've ever heard of Foreshadows up until now.

Insane as it may sound, I did actually mean creating quickfire in the usual sense, i.e. quickfire that spreads all over the dungeon and kills everything.
Anyway, will it at least be possible for a monster to radiate blade clouds?

Cool. Next question(also quickfire related).
Will monsters be able to radiate all types of fields this time? I remember not being able to set 'radiate quickfire fields' or 'radiate blade fields'. Will this change?

True, but that's entirely hypothetical.
After all, to paraphrase the Cheshire cat, while you may make a scenario without movies, what's the use in making movies without a scenario?

I agree. It was much easier to just use stuff done flags.

I agree about quickfire and have complained about this in the past. I think we should change it's graphic, and use the current graphic for shock/force fields.
Anyway, speaking of which: I forget, can portculli block quickfire, or is it only walls or barriers?

I'm fairly certain that was specially programmed. Notice that there was no menu or the like when that was going on (and, for that matter, that it looped infinitely).

There are tons of manuals for C and C++ programming, though many of them are made for specific programs (like borland, visual C++, codewarrior, etc).
Anyway, he already said that it wouldn't actually BE C or C++, there would just be 'surface similarities'.

I'm not sure about animated cutscenes, but Jeff has said that we probably will be include static (non-animated) pictures.

Yeah, I'm hoping those get done well. Not like the NPCs in BoE, which wouldn't follow you without special nodes, only leveled up if you gave the monster multiple forms or 'levels', and were as likely to fry you as the enemy if they were spellcasters.
Yes, I know that they can't really fry you anymore (except with cloud of blades), but my point still stands.

Yeah, same here. I made a couple of scenarios (BAD scenarios, though I think they're still up on spiderweb's first efforts table), but I'm waiting until BoA to the best ideas I have.
Who knows, I may do some scenario or other for BoE, if I can decide on an idea that I like enough.

Wait a minute, fox elf. I'm pretty sure that's wrong. I've heard from many sources (including Jeff himself, If I recall correctly) that Blades of Avernum will be coming out before Geneforge 2.

Yeah, that sounds about right to me. I mostly heard next fall, but that information is more than likely a bit dated.

You get the special deal on BoE and Nethergate if you order them with game(s) from the avernum series.

Of course, that wouldn't be a problem with augmentors, since they're a fixed terrain block anyway.

Of all Jeff's posts, I don't think I've ever seen one confirming ambidexterity, so it's probably safe to assume that it isn't in.
Anyway, goblin scenarios are just like any other: if they're well done, the story is good, and the cliches are kept to a minimum, then they're good. Otherwise, they're not.
Anyway, they still don't seem to be as overdone as the 'evil vahnatai' scenario. I personally want to do something revolving around the GIFTSs. Specifically, something not involving slaughtering the poor critters like sick people on the forums keep discussing.

Stand-alone? in Blades of Avernum

Lucky bizfish. I've still got a 56k crap modem (it actually gets more like 30k).
Anyway, as far as a stand alone is concerned I'd advocate making it a seperate product, if it is made at all. It could run on the Avernum engine, but I think the release date on Blades of Avernum is late enough as it is ;) So I'd advocate making it some later product.
I know I'd use a stand alone, at least I would if it were as user-friendly as BoE. While it is true that it isn't as user-friendly as it could be, as everyone and their mother points out, it is nonetheless alot better than similar products such as Divinity.

Well, if we're going in that direction, then I would like to point out that it is spelled 'Genius'. Genious sounds like an adjective. Genious(adj): having or possessing qualities of gen.

First of all, drathen, don't call me mod. I have nothing against nicknames, but it sounds like moderator. I almost thought you meant Schrodinger.
Second, what I have been smoking is NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS.
Third, I never said that the six character party was abandoned because it was weak. I said that was why I didn't like it. There's a difference, in case you would care to notice.

It happens on everyone's topics, it's no big deal. The conversation always goes off on some random tangent, trust me (especially when I'm around) :D Anyway, Nicol Bolas, no offense or anything, but that spell idea is CRAP. I have yet to meet a person who would consider a kill-your-own-character spell worth it.

Sorry, just to clarify: by 'hold onto', I meant that I hoped these would be kept in the game, not whether they would be transferable between scenarios.

That will be Bad ARSE.
And I can't really see how Jeff would take out mind crystals. I'm worried about holding onto items that give skill bonuses. Am I being irrational here?
