If your plot is getting in the way of your message, and you consider your message to be paramount, then rethink your plot. Anyway, the characters giving out messages don't have to be the same ones driving the plot. Why not have an innkeeper or priest share his opinions of recent goings-on with Hito? Townspeople don't just have to be there for atmosphere. [ Friday, September 17, 2004 21:01: Message edited by: Thuryl ] -------------------- My BoE Page Bandwagons are fun! Roots Hunted! Of course none of it's "real". It's all a game, now isn't it? [ Friday, September 17, 2004 18:23: Message edited by: Thuryl ] -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

Oh, Smirf, I didn't want actual player-controlled joinable party members -- that would be nice but definitely isn't going to happen. I just want creature scripts to not be broken for NPCs that join the party. You're not supposed to beat her. Of course, you can try to beat one copy and get the Xian Imperial Robes, but you'll probably regret it when all the other Prazac clones start fighting over the throne. You'll need to do so if you want to become Emperor, though. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

quote:A cigarette would be nice. Oh, you mean for the editor. Hmm. The only thing that comes to mind is better AI for NPCs that actually join the party. At the moment, an NPC's script doesn't seem to affect its behaviour once it's joined the party. Of course you can work around this by having the NPC follow you using scripts instead of joining the party, but that means PCs can't cast spells on the NPC. I think that in this case using the character editor to give your mage the spells is a fairly legitimate option. :P -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

FP, bartering and haggling aren't even close to the same thing. Australian money is made of plastic. This makes it very durable, very hard to counterfeit and very expensive to produce (but worth it in the long run; I don't have the figures, but I think the notes cost about 3 times more and last about 5 times longer than paper money would.) -------------------- My BoE Page Bandwagons are fun! Is your computer a laptop, by any chance? The sound you describe might be the fan spinning in response to increased CPU use. Turn your power down or play Geneforge in a colder room. In theory, it could be the fan even if it's a desktop, but that's less likely. There's also the fact that if you ask the player to modify the default graphics, SW will refuse to host your scenario on their site. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

quote:These have been tried before in BoE. They end badly. The one insurmountable difficulty with them is that if even one person drops out of the project then the whole scenario tends to go down the gurgler. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure!
