I downloaded the demo of Geneforge yesterday and have been enjoying it a lot. However, while I was playing it earlier, my computer started letting out an incredibly annoying high pitched squeal. I know it isn't coming from the speakers, as turning them off doesn't stop the squealing, and I know it has to be the game, since exiting the game did stop the squeal. Any ideas on why this is happening?

or
K. What kind of computer are you on?
or
L. Is it a Windows?
or
M. Should have gotten a Macintosh.
or
N. We all know that SpiderWeb Software develop all their games for Macintosh before Windows. Thats because Macintosh have better games, like Geneforge.
or
O. If you are on a Macintosh, it's because you either haven't hit it with the hammer hard enough, or your computer hates you.
and
P. Thats just about all I got.
or
Q. I could probably go through the entire alphabet.
or
R. I'll stop wasting your time now.
or
S. It's 10 PM, Do you know where your squirrel is?

T. If your still reading, you must be as bored as me.
or
U. If you are STILL reading I might just give you the awnser by the end, but it won't work if you don't read EVERY one.
or
V. If only I had a heart. I would blah blah blah (or something like that)
or
W. Try taking out the save game and reinstalling Geneforge.
or
X. D*** I am almost out of things to say, good thing theres only two left.
or
Y. Try the hammer one more time.
or
Z. Yea, I got nothing, and because of that, you get nothing. So sorry I have no idea, but do try reinstalling (and keeping your saved file) if that doesn't work, I dunno. It could be a million things (or 26 as I've listed). Oh, and try the hammer one more time just for good luck.

Is your computer a laptop, by any chance? The sound you describe might be the fan spinning in response to increased CPU use. Turn your power down or play Geneforge in a colder room.

In theory, it could be the fan even if it's a desktop, but that's less likely.

No, not a laptop, and I can't imagine it was a fan, it was so high pitched it was painful to listen to.

Does your computer have an internal speaker and if so did you turn that off? I've had that happen before!

I've had the same problem playing those games-
but only when the game froze. A few suggestions Was this a one time incident or does it happen every time you play? Try turning off the sound through the game not the speakers.
