My cat walked over my keyboard, I deleted some consonants and added some vowels, and thus my name was born. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. -------------------- My BoE Page Bandwagons are fun! Roots Hunted! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

ZT, about 90% of the population of this forum would probably think that was an accurate description of them. Who believes themselves to have bad taste? Who wants to have an uncomfortable life? Who looks for an unkind and unemotional partner who doesn't acknowledge them? :P [ Wednesday, October 19, 2005 20:36: Message edited by: Thuryl ] -------------------- My BoE Page Bandwagons are fun! I do not. The yellowish-brown thing in the background is a flower which happens to be unfortunately positioned in a direct line with the camera and the back of my head. -------------------- My BoE Page Bandwagons are fun! Roots Hunted! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

By posting about personal issues on a public forum Alex implicitly invites comment. TM's response to Alex's post was just as much an expression of his own feelings as was Alex's post itself; why is the one expression any more or less valid than the other? -------------------- My BoE Page Bandwagons are fun! By popular demand, a new photograph of yours truly: Taken at a pre-graduation dinner this time last week. The problem is not so much with what he wants as with explaining what he wants to others. If a decision really is a purely personal one, it doesn't need to be publicised. -------------------- My BoE Page Bandwagons are fun! Roots Hunted! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

Nope -- the overwriting is completely random. You can overwrite a Dark Wyrm with a goblin just as easily as the other way round. (So don't cast Capture Soul on goblins.) -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

Actually, it's usually possible to target the "hidden" monster. You just have to be extremely precise in your clicking. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

Chief Spider appears to be describing what he thinks should be possible, not what actually is possible. Disregard his post. CS, you probably shouldn't post in help topics describing things you wish you could do but can't; it tends to confuse the person who actually wants help. owen, at the point in the game where you are, there's no choice except to kill Stalker. I'm pretty sure that once you demand to see Stalker, you've closed off the rebel path. Sorry. (As mentioned above, though, you can still kill Jaen afterwards.) quote:Yes, but it should be harder because it's harder, not because the interface is awkward. There were times in Nethergate and Avernum where you literally could barely see or target your opponent because they were downhill from you and to the north. (On the other hand, if they were downhill and to the south, you could see them just fine.) There are many tactical difficulties involved in fighting on a hill, but inability to judge distances and directions is not one of them! quote:I think what he's saying, in technical terms, is that if the staircase on the first floor of a tower is at, say, X 600, Y 450 on the world map, then the staircase on the second floor leading back down to the first will be at X 600, Y 450 on the second floor of the world map (or to put it another way, X 600, Y 450, Z 1). In other words, the second floor of every building that has a second floor is part of the same map, since they're all at the same altitude. I don't really see what gameplay advantages this could have, apart from the fact that if you had a way to fly ridiculously huge distances, you could get directly from the second floor of any building in the game to the second floor of any other building in the game without climbing downstairs. The owners of a factory suspect there's a leaky pipe somewhere in the walls, so they call in a world-renowned engineer to find the leak. The engineer walks into the factory, wanders around for a little while, walks up to one wall, holds his ear against the wall for a moment, then takes a pencil out of his pocket and draws a little X on the wall. "The leak is directly behind that X," he says. The foreman thanks him and asks how much his advice is going to cost. "$10,000," the engineer replies. "What? But you've barely been here for two minutes! All you did was put a little X on the wall! I want that bill itemised!" The engineer shrugs, scribbles a little note on a piece of paper and hands it to the foreman. It reads: "Putting a little X on the wall, $1. Knowing where to put the little X on the wall, $9,999." -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

He's a shining wit alright. Reverend Spooner would be proud. Seriously, though, don't prod him. It's fun at first, but ends up being more trouble than it's worth. Plus, if he gets annoyed enough he'll get himself banned again, and we don't really want that. Well, basic tactics are to haste and bless your party before every major fight, and use spells like Slow Group to weaken your enemies if necessary. If you bless your party enough times, the giant fighters won't be able to do you much harm, so concentrate on attacking the shamans first. If you can't reach the shamans with your fighters, have your priests cast Wound on them. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! quote:Well, the argument from particularly hard-boiled gun nuts is that the populace ought to be able to overthrow a tyrannical government by force of arms if necessary. Of course, realistically, that's not going to happen unless every second person owns a tank. Even then, if we carry that hypothetical situation to its logical conclusion, there's no reason to suppose that every one of those tank-owners is going to oppose the government strongly enough to try to overthrow it, and in fact there are likely to be plenty of private tank-owners willing to defend the government by force. So the actual result of an attempted revolution under circumstances where private citizens had the resources necessary to overthrow the government would, realistically, be a civil war that would make the Sudan look like a school playground. -------------------- My BoE Page Bandwagons are fun!
