Persistent spam is a relative thing. If you have a low number of posts, let's say 90, for example, and 75 of those posts are spam/spammish, you're probably more likely to be canned than someone who has 500 spammy posts out of 1000. And you don't spam more than others? I would definitely dispute that. And to remove the Canned title, all you have to do is stop spamming and make intelligent and constructive posts. Why did I can you and Rowen? Persistent spam on the General forum. If I'd been around for the rest of the summer, I would have been in a more discipline-oriented mood and canning would not have seemed such a rare punishment. There are more cannings just urging to come out, which means that people like RC and FP should be very careful. If RC locks another topic like he's done in the past, he will be banned for a long time. Canning is basically a warning for spam. Once you're canned, if you don't start to ease up, you'll be banned. If you do start behaving more maturely, then you will not be banned. If you become a good person who contributes to the boards, your title will disappear entirely. Aran's site (and Vahnatai Creationism) are what the community basically decided on a long time ago. There is basically no evidence from the games because we made it to fill in what wasn't there, so you're pretty much going on a pointless search. It's what's accepted in the community, so most designers choose to stay within those boundaries. I have a section of canon history set up on my site if you want to read it. It's all information gleaned from the games. There's still an interrelationship between magic and technological advances. In teleporters, there are always efforts to increase mobility and decrease the energy requirements, possibly by mechanizing certain parts. There are conveyor belts, automated printing presses (albeit infused with magic when dealing with scrolls), factories that use complex machinery, etc. The most magically inclined people, the Vahnatai, were also the most advanced industrially, as we can see by the golem factory and Rentar's fortress. As creating the plagues would take too much energy to do with magic alone, mechanization is brought into the picture, and there's no reason to assume that it will not advance as magical progress is occurring as well. The people started out with a very low ability for magic and no technology. As they advanced, they got more magically proficient and developed weapons and tools, not through magic but through being industrious.
