Startled and overwhelmed, the Solaran troops were decimated and had to fall back. Overstretched and outnumbered, the Solarans recalled General Frederic, moving Commandant Krilon out to the front where Hugo had attacked them. Thinking that they had won and expecting an answer from Sol before picking up the pace, on their march to Solaria they were only looking forwards. Coming from Easton and the west coast were Solaran armies, which descended on the rear of the Kylenian army. The rear fell almost instantly, along with supply trains and several of the mages that had gone back to walk with each other, rather than the troops. When they got to the meat of the Kylenian army, they formed a wedge and drove it through the middle of the army. From the walls of a nearby fort, archers and mages bombarded the armies, while pikemen from the trenches returned with a vengeance, charging into the lines of Kylenian troops before drawing their swords and fighting for Sol. Many of the Solaran troops could be heard shouting 'Kill those Populist scum' and 'death to traitors', which confused some of the lower-level soldiers of the Kylenians. After all, weren't the Solarans basically Populists themselves? -------------------- "At times discretion should be thrown aside, and with the foolish we should play the fool." - Menander ==== Drakefyre's Demesne - Vahnatai Did Do It desperance.net - We're Everywhere The Arena - God Will Sort The Dead ==== You can take my Mac when you pry my cold, dead fingers off the mouse! You can strip a party of items. It's actually quite easy using a while loop. All items with custom graphics will be removed, items with special classes have the classes set to 0, and items that call scripts lose that functionality. -------------------- "At times discretion should be thrown aside, and with the foolish we should play the fool." - Menander ==== Drakefyre's Demesne - Happy Happy Joy Joy Encyclopedia Ermariana - Trapped in the Closet ==== You can take my Mac when you pry my cold, dead fingers off the mouse! (OOC: Well, the mages had been working with the doomguard for a lot longer than Linda had been. And Linda is just an apprentice - an Imperial Wizard would be able to do things she can't even dream of doing.) The aggressive attacks on the populists had brought glory to the Solaran Army, and recruitment intensified among the young men of the big cities, and soon more conscripts were being trained and drilled by the best military instructors on Pralgrad. Meanwhile, the existing forces, after finishing their burning rampage, all headed to the Borderlands, keeping close watch for Populist and Kylen guerillas and troops. They knew that Populist troop movement north of Imperius had increased tremendously over the last couple of days, and they began to fortify intensely all along the new borders of Solaran territory. Upon finding out Linda's treachery, Jehan Sol dispatched several intensely loyal assassins, among them an accomplished mage. The Populist movement was not going to get anything done under his watch. The Solaran emissary on Warderson's ship received another message, this one more accurately describing the political situation on Pralgrad, including exaggeration of the Populist threat in Ironclad and Kylen territories. He quickly pointed out that at this point, only the Solarans were prepared to keep the Empire alive and stable. Jehan Sol had great respect for Ironclad I. Jehan Sol has great respect for the Ironclad house. Jehan Sol has great respect for our efforts on Aizo. Jehan Sol has great respect for General Warderson. (OOC: Zephyr, you're on the boats heading back to Pralgrad) An angry Solaran emissary stormed into SAFT offices and demanded to speak with Vida. He told her in no uncertain terms that unless SAFT immediately ceased to aid the Ironclads, Populists, and Kylens, their deal would be voided. Running matches and testing will be a lot more complicated, but actually submitting and designing shouldn't be too hard once we put a face on the numbers. OOC: A new map: IC: General Frederic was aware of the large troop movement to the north on White Peak Island and relayed a message to the Solaran superiors in Easton. Within a week, the newly outfitted and SAFT-independent ships began to actively patrol the Gulf of Jazen, staying close to Easton and the Solaran troops on the opposite side, protecting Solaran interests. Well, as BoA becomes the dominant editor (which it definitely will), the Arena will use it. Creatures are created in a Custom Objects script, which defines their attributes. The most important stat is level. 75% of the other stats are dependent on it. There can be six stat increases (of the stats PCs have). Resistances are from 0-100 of the four from BoE, mental, and melee. The ship construction had not slowed under the threat of Populist rebellion. The Easton shipyards began churning out frigates under the exclusive control of the Solarans. Jehan Sol relaxed his town-razing decree earlier in the day, declaring that anyone who submitted to the mercy of the Solaran Empire would be spared, along with their family. The ranks of the remaining Populist cities were decimated, and after the men gave themselves up, the people remaining in the cities, along with the cities themselves, were again razed to the ground. The ability to control his territory gained Jehan Sol respect among the people of Solaria and its outskirts, as they put down Kylen and Ironclad, who were in shambles and at the mercy of the people. Being secure and able to continue with daily life made them appreciate the lengths Sol went to to protect them, and they felt no sympathy for the Populists. There will need to be some ugly workarounds, but it's certainly possible. You could purchase creature scripts with points, depending on what you want the monster to do. And there's a real option for immobility. Actually, in BoA there are floors (like swamp and grass and dirt) and then there's terrain (like chairs, tables, fog, etc.). You could do something like that if you wanted to. (OOC: Sullust, what about the alliance with Hugo and Karadas?) Jehan Sol prepared to ride into battle as the last emperor of his kind - the hero and the warrior emperor. Attacking the main Populist stronghold on the west coast would show them that the Solarans did not play around with rebels. Before they rode for Bale, he delivered a rousing speech to his troops, where he instructed them to take no prisoners and fight for the glory of Sol. And then they rode. When they got to Bale, they saw the archers on the city walls, waiting for the Solaran army to get into range. They never got the chance. Solaran crossbowmen killed the archers before they even knew what was coming. Scaling the wall was easier as the defenders were in disarray, and the first man over ran down to open the gates. Solaran troops poured in, killing everyone and everything in sight. The former mayor of Bale, now a Populist Major, tried to flee, but a dagger from Jehan Sol's hand caught him as he was about to board his boat. Women and children were not spared, as the whole town was set aflame, and it was left to burn on the horizon as the bloody troops returned to Solaria. Upon their return, they found Commandant Krilon ready to deliver the unconditional surrenders of seven more Populist cities, leaving the only remaining Populist strongholds on the southeastern outskirts of Solaran territory, but fortified with retreating troops from the surrendered cities. (OOC: I'll update the map soon) -------- Upon learning of the theft of the doomguard, Jehan Sol immediately ordered a team to retrieve it. And that pesky mage and mercenary. Treason was the most grievous crime anyone in Solaria could commit, and harboring traitors was not much worse. He dispatched Captain Kevin to find them, along with an elite combat team assembled under Sergeant Lincoln. They were to capture the traitors and the doomguard, and to return both to him. If he could only take one of the two, he wanted the doomguard and the traitors dead. Anything less was unacceptable, and two failures from the same captain would certainly result in a large punishment. -------- As Kevin and Lincoln rode south, General Frederic was consolidating his forces in Ironclad territory. He didn't dare leave the city of Rexan with only a small cadre of troops, so he was limited in his approach. North of Rexan were no cities, only small farms that sold food at a good profit to the Solaran troops. No resistance would come from the north. The main Populist resistance was to the south, along with remnants of the Ironclad army. He had received Sol's decree on the Populists - they were to be exterminated with extreme prejudice, with no prisoners. They were a greater threat now than the Ironclads, but he still had to be aware of Hugo and Karadas' combined might. -------- In the capital, a shadow lurked behind a building. Soon, another joined it. The first slumped in relief as the second came. "I thought you'd never come." "There are more troops patrolling the streets nowadays." "Do you have it?" "Of course I do. Do you have your payment?" The shadow pulled a bag from inside of his coat. It clinked like a bag heavy with silver. They made the exchange, and both shadows left the meeting spot. As the second was heading back, he walked into three sneakthieves, who quickly removed him of his life and of his silver. The three of them went to the meeting point, where they met with the first shadow again. "My boys, we have it now. Let's start this now." -------------------- "At times discretion should be thrown aside, and with the foolish we should play the fool." - Menander ==== Drakefyre's Demesne - Vahnatai Did Do It desperance.net - We're Everywhere The Arena - God Will Sort The Dead ==== You can take my Mac when you pry my cold, dead fingers off the mouse!
