A perfect forest: technical problem in Blades of Avernum

You can't get around that, and you're not supposed to exit through there anyway. There's a portal that you're supposed to power in the caves, which will take you out of there.

EDIT: Oh, welcome to the Spiderweb Forums! I'm a little conflicted about whether to tell you about the sanity-eating turtles though.

And if you think APF is excellent, wait until you try some of the others.

Ah. So it's the stomach flu. I knew it wasn't related to influenza, but I didn't have much to go on.

I have a very resilient immune system, so I rarely get sick. When I do, though, I get hit by it hard.

By the way, have any of you ever heard of the '24-hour flu'? Because I can't remember what the technical term for it was. All I remember is how nasty it was.

If there's one thing I've learned here, it's that post count does not really affect your newbie-hood. I'm in the quadruple digits, and am still considered a newbie.

Also, slow it down a bit, Infernal Flaming Muffin. When I hit 573 or so posts in November, I was still only posting at a rate of about 17 PPD. Keep posting at your current rate (about 32 PPD), and you'll burn yourself out. Especially since you no longer have your sanity.

Dikiyoba said that, at some point, more newbies will be arriving in the story. It's also been confirmed that Nalyd is one of them.

Good God, no! There's a limit on how much can be put in a single FreeWebs account. Besides, I'd rather see her finish the story rather than make illustrations.

Nioca came pretty much out of the blue. I mainly wanted something that sounded in line with the Avernum theme. I think I succeeded...

Anyway, before spiderweb, I usually went by either Firecat or Freecat.

I still find it preferable to the Dumbfounding drain ray that Gazers used to fire. That was just cruel.

If you can prepare for it, it's not that bad. Casting Radiant Shield, wearing a Crystal Necklace, and having high Luck all help you survive petrification. Couple that with a high magic resistance, and the petrification gaze becomes pretty useless. Which ends up benefiting you in the end, because the basilisk would keep firing it at you, wasting it's turns.

Remember, you can move diagonally, as can the barrel.

Sadly, other then that, I can't offer any more advice. Could you try posting a screenshot of your problem?

You probably didn't want to waste firepower. After all, that thing probably has a slow fire rate.

Is there a tentative release date on the next chapter?

Both crystals and wands are affected by the Missile Weapons skill, if I remember correctly.

Don't worry, a mod can move this topic if they so choose.

Another idea is to see if you can convert those into .PNG graphics, and then compress them. It'll drop a picture's size (in terms of Bytes) by up to %66, thus drastically decreasing the loading time.

EDIT: '%66 percent' seemed a bit redundant.

That's because you only have copies of the scrolls. Go to Lark's house and translate the original scrolls, in the crystal box.

EDIT: Looks like I was beaten to it.
