The pressure that society today puts on everyone (not just kids) is enough to eventually make someone crack now and then. Add that to the glorified violence, what Jewels added above, and the additional stress of the 'War on Terror', and you're just asking for someone to have a psychotic breakdown over something seemingly trivial.
