You only die in the end if you get the Shaper ending but also murder Lord Rahul or Khyryk. -------------------- You lose. Posts: 2156 | Registered: Thursday, August 24 2006 07:00 |

I wasn't a fan of Blades of Exile. Maybe it's because the engine wasn't good enough for some of the crazy things people were scripting for it, maybe it's because the editor was too annoying for me to take the time to figure out. But it sure does make Blades of Avernum look great. Far superior, anyone who says it isn't is a liar. 9 -------------------- You lose. Posts: 2156 | Registered: Thursday, August 24 2006 07:00 |

Maybe it's because I went back and played this one after playing some of the newer games first, but I simply wasn't impressed. Avernum 2 is the best in the Avernum series, but I don't get what people see in this, Exile III is superior. 7. -------------------- You lose. Maybe I'm a little bit bias since this was my first Spiderweb game, but still. 10. It's my favorite of the Exiles, it seemed bigger than the previous two, it has the best dungeons in the series, I liked the race against time, and, of course, I love Rentar. I still miss the Tower of Shifting Floors. -------------------- You lose. Posts: 2156 | Registered: Thursday, August 24 2006 07:00 |

I really can't say anything bad about this game, other than its lack of the Barzahl factor. Good plot, great characters, fun dungeons. 9.5. -------------------- You lose. Posts: 2156 | Registered: Thursday, August 24 2006 07:00 |

I'll give this one a 9, the lowest I give to a Geneforge game. This seems to be most people's favorite Geneforge, but I don't understand why. Sure, it was great because the concept was new at that point, but I think that's what made it lesser than the sequels. It had to spend too much time explaining the new world and so it didn't have a highly developed plot like the later Geneforges would. -------------------- You lose. Diki, I'm actually the most impatient person ever when it comes to things like what you described. My advice: cheat. I'm not even kidding, it will increase your enjoyment if your having problems with tediousness. You should at least finish the game so you know who the Darkside Loyalists are for Avernum 5. -------------------- You lose. Posts: 2156 | Registered: Thursday, August 24 2006 07:00 |

I'll give it the highest possible rating, 10, partially because I started a thread in which I defended it from just about every other member on this board, and partially because I have the hots for Rentar. -------------------- You lose. Posts: 2156 | Registered: Thursday, August 24 2006 07:00 |

quote:I would actually switch the Rebels under Akhari Blaze (or better yet, Ghaldring) with the Awakened. The Awakened support creation rights the most, to the point of wanting to cut themselves off from the rest of the world just so they can live normal lives. Ghaldring, on the other hand, is willing to treat other creations like crap in order to accomplish his more politically oriented goals (land, power, revenge). I think he is a lot less interested in creation rights than he would have you believe. That is... assuming he ever even claimed to be interested in them at all. -------------------- You lose. quote:Oh, I always thought you were going for a double trillogy, George Lucas style. No matter, you're already way cooler than George Lucas because he would never comment or anything in a Star Wars forum. I probably put self-shaping as one of the axes because of personal bias. I think it's an important issue, and cleary, as you can see by the visuals, those of us that support excessive shaping and still hate creations are underrepresented. I still think the Shapers should be placed lower on the 'shaping' axis than they are in Actaeon's graph simply because they are one of the most restrictive sects relatively speaking. -------------------- You lose. I was playing Geneforge 3 again and I remembered a question I meant to ask a while ago. What's the deal with Master Hodge's old battle alpha that he has in the begining of the game. It describes him as gnarled, highly modified, and scary to students. I imagine the first time I saw him I was probably looking forward to fighting him, but that doesn't happen in the game. What's the deal? -------------------- You lose. Posts: 2156 | Registered: Thursday, August 24 2006 07:00 |

I think the concept of oldbie has moved on from being a matter of experience to a matter of definition. To me, an oldbie is someone who takes it upon themselves to criticize people they don't consider to be oldbies for really petty things. Thuryl is the pinnacle of this, since he constantly makes it his job to correct others for simple grammatical errors and such. This is also why I consider Nioca an oldbie, because he fits the mold in that he likes to explain the rules to newcomers. Dikiyoba would also be an oldbie, because she understands or pretends to understand the Imban joke. This is why, no matter how long I remain, I will never be an oldbie. First of all, I hate the stupid inside jokes. And second, it doesn’t seem sporting enough to attack weak newbs, I much prefer making life difficult for oldbies. -------------------- You lose.
