quote:The general concensus in our school's international science circles is that Israel will be taking aggressive action in Iran long before the US does, mostly because they anticipate us to still be cleaning up in Iraq by the time Israel's patience runs out. As for Bush being out of control, well, his actions make sense for a short term solution; however, I am concerned about the long-term effects of using such large amounts of foreign (to them) military for peacekeeping. Frankly, what this looks like to me is simply that Bush is continuing with this strategy because he doesn't want to admit to the possibility that it's the wrong way to go. Pulling all troops out now would likely ignite a civil war, he has that point. I do wonder, however, if civil war is not inevitable. I have to agree with Ephesos. It would be nice to actually know his rationale. -------------------- The Silent Assassin recently discovered that talcum powder is useful for leaving footprints all over the bathroom floor. He says that it has no relevance to anything in particular, but it's definitely something that he may eventually need to know. Right. -------------------- -Lenar Labs What's Your Destiny? Looking over all of the wonderful new stuff at the Endeavor, Aran, I must say that it's wonderful and new. And wonderful. Very nice. I was wondering how Endeavorbot knew our Genders... And in postly news, I just set my all-time low. But this should change. -------------------- The Silent Assassin has constructed a replica of the battleship USS New Jersey made entirely out of discarded silverware in our testing chamber. You've all but hit it on the head, Alo. Indeed, many people who call themselves Christian will only approach the media with pitchforks. And I'm obviously not one of them :P . Essentially, the course surveys theories of applying Chritian virtues, ethics, and theology to working in the world of mass media (our particular class will be focusing mostly on broadcasting). Today, for example, we discussed one particular approach that says that it's ungodly to be involved in any form of secular "culture" at all (the class as a whole dismissed this one as ignorant hogwash). We also discussed an opposing theory that said there should be no borderlines between the sacred and secular. Another theory states that the worlds of sacred and secular constantly overlap and are more times than not in conflict with each other, etc. Later on in the course, we will be going through case studies involving Christian-related cultural phenomena such as The Passion of the Christ, The recent Chronicles of Narnia movie, the PAX network, trends in Christian radio, et. al, trying to determine the motivations behind them and what the motivators believed about God, etc. We will also supposedly be discussing topics like "Should every film produced by a Christian involve the message of Salvation", or "Should there even be a 'Christian' genre of film or music, when meant to be released to the public at large," or "Is positive, encouraging music necessarily godly". Frankly, I'd like to be through the paradigms involving the false dichotomy of God v. All, and discussing practical applications of theology and ethics as soon as possible. -------------------- The Silent Assassin put a nice large mouse on my pillow. Or maybe it was the cat. I dunno. I'm throwing it out now. -------------------- -Lenar Labs What's Your Destiny? Ushmushmeifa: Lenar's power is almighty and ineffable. Fight nice, children. There is no conspiracy. None. We are not staging a military coup with interterrestrial aliens. We are not trying to help humans banished below ground long ago to return to the land that is rightfully theirs. We do not have a time machine, and we are not using it to try and rewrite the history of the Roman Empire. Galactic Core is not the codename for a secret project combining necromancy with organic chemistry. There are no fluffy turtles who consume sanity. You aren't really reading anything. In fact, you saw nothing more on these forums than that response to that post you made about that game. You should get off the computer and get some fresh air. And then you should play BoA. Lots and lots of BoA. Because there aren't any subliminal messages hidden in any of the scenarios. -------------------- The Silent Assassin just won an arm-wrestling match with a Japanese Man-of-War. Yes, I'm still trying to figure that one out, too. -------------------- -Lenar Labs What's Your Destiny? Ushmushmeifa: Lenar's power is almighty and ineffable. Our latest plan down here at the labs involved monkeys tranformed into elecromagnets shot down into the earth's core to destablize the planet's magnetic field and effectively blow the world apart. This was after we decided that sending highly trained monkeys to destroy several planets and a nearby star in order to throw Earth out of the Sun's orbit would take too long. -------------------- The Silent Assassin knows now why the world is always in conflict.
