Christmas, children, is not a date. It is a state of mind. ~Mary Ellen Chase Now that it's all over, what did you really do yesterday that's worth mentioning? ~Coleman Cox -------------------- There was a wise owl who lived in an oak. On Christmas day, we housed a total of 21 people. One short from last year since Pastor Chris got to go home to Canada this year. We passed around family photo albums that my mother brought which contained most of the pictures from childhood with my siblings. Many times my sisters and I got to enjoy being told that somebody else was looking at naked pictures of us. My favorite gift this year was a pillow from Pammy. It says 'Tonight' on one side and 'Not Tonight' on the other. So far hubby likes it, too. *Sends everyone lots of warm fuzzies to wish them Merry Christmas.* [ Thursday, December 28, 2006 19:10: Message edited by: Jewels ] -------------------- "Even the worst Terror from Hell can be transformed to a testimony from Heaven!" - Rev. Calling birds vs. colly birds: Found this on the web: quote:from Washington State Council of Teachers It now appears that "calling birds" shows up in lyrics quite frequently (nore frequently than the original term?) so, go ahead and use whatever suits your fancy. Also, what does the song mean? From various sources it appears that it was a Catholic catechism to help remember the following: Religious symbolism of The Twelve Days of Christmas (The 12 Days of Christmas) 1 True Love refers to God 2 Turtle Doves refers to the Old and New Testaments 3 French Hens refers to Faith, Hope and Charity, the Theological Virtues 4 Calling Birds refers to the Four Gospels and/or the Four Evangelists 5 Golden Rings refers to the first Five Books of the Old Testament, the "Pentateuch", which gives the history of man's fall from grace. 6 Geese A-laying refers to the six days of creation 7 Swans A-swimming refers to the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit, the seven sacraments 8 Maids A-milking refers to the eight beatitudes 9 Ladies Dancing refers to the nine Fruits of the Holy Spirit 10 Lords A-leaping refers to the ten commandments 11 Pipers Piping refers to the eleven faithful apostles 12 Drummers Drumming refers to the twelve points of doctrine in the Apostle's Creed -------------------- "Dikiyoba ... is demon ... drives people mad and ... do all sorts of strange things." Recovering from Christmas? Well, uh... I've finally managed to make it back, so I must be recovering in some way, shape, or form... Now all I've got to do is recover from the purchase of certain expensive theatre tickets, and clean up all of the clothes, and buy a new set of shelves for all of the wonderful first edition books that wound up under the tree... A belated Merry Christmas to all! And Diki's spider is cuter. -------------------- The Silent Assassin smashed a jug of milk over my head while I was trying to fill his stocking.
