Those obstacles are pretty easy to surmount. There are enough sheep that they could pass a law mandating retrofit, with harsh penalties for failure to comply.

In the case of the VT and other recent shootings, the weapons were not old grandpa's hunting rifle. They were only recently purchased and caressed prior to the *snap* sound.

That doesn't mean everyone has to like it, but the only real option now is to try to develop a taste for the new style of game. A lot of people have found they can do this.

Point 9 is more debatable. The Darkside Loyalists certainly aren't lurking under every bed. But should they be? Dorikas is suspected of having infiltrated the Empire military, but he only got to the Northern Frontier a few days ahead of the PC. He hasn't had time to build a thorough web of agents there. And he's had his hands full just moving ahead through extremely hostile terrain.

Certainly true. The best part is that since Jeff already made that game with points 1-8, you have it already, and this is a new and different game, which can't be that other one. And the web of agents certainly does exist. From the Empire spy to the outlaw king, and all the minor functionaries and religious zealots, there is a considerable web. Almost too much, and that was a bit of a downer to me. I wanted to be able to convince the turn-coats to turn them back around. Once a traitor, always a traitor, but I suppose I just wasn't as persuasive as Dorikas. :(

About when? I have (more or less) from issue 50ish to 110ish. Be happy to scan and email.

According to the issue index in #112 - the first mention of the new player alchemist class is issue #2 (that's going to be expensive to get now) and the last was issue #49 where it had been nerfed down to NPC status. I really wished I had copied it back then. I suppose someday I'll eBay The Dragon reprints that were on CD-ROMs to get it.

I have #49 around here somewhere. Send me an email and I'll respond.

How is a boring white guy characterizing Muslims as a homogeneous group supposed to be funny? I mean really, just because the bigotry comes from GB doesn't mean it is a good thing. It's time to stop talking about the groups, and start talking about the individuals.

On another note, training rotties to go for the throat is bad business.

For whatever it's worth, LT, you're repugnant.

And as an aside, the three major players on the underdog side in the movie were not stereotypical whiteys. Camilla Belle is 50% Brazilian, a country renowned for not being white. Cliff Curtis is a New Zealander, which is much the same as a Maori cannibal, but with less salt. And Steven Strait, the "boy," was born in Greenwich Village. May God have mercy on his soul.

Was this even part of the movie? Did I not make it clear that the movie is about a boy getting his girl? If the Pharaoh in 10,000 BC was killed, and they were still building pyramids during the time of Julius Caesar, doesn't this movie demonstrate how unimportant the actions of said boy were, at least in the overall picture?

And besides, it's not Middle Eastern people I hate.

I accept your apology. You might reconsider how strongly you identify with those "evil savages," because just the fact that they lose that battle doesn't mean anything about morality. In fact, looking at actual history, those savages enjoyed 11,000 years of cultural superiority before the various Caucasian cultures even came close to challenging them. These are unfortunate times in which we now live, and it is unfortunate that you are using them as a filter through which to view this movie, and apparently 300, which I've not yet seen.

Sorry about that, decent forum software would allow spoiler tags, but at least now Alo has made an adjustment to the heading.

ET - Sorry you couldn't adjust your mindset to go beyond the current xenophobia between caucasian and arabs. It really is a shame, because in this film the Caucasians were the backwoods louts with no technology, and the Arabs were much more advanced at pretty much every level. The only thing that eventually helped the Caucasians was the introduction of farming, which was depicted through the gift of corn seed.
It is possible to displace yourself outside the current world problems, and actually enjoy something without seeing the devil. Really.

Decent movie, saw it on Saturday. Was impressed by the scope of the movie, although certain things seemed a little campy. Nice to not see any big-name actors, since that usually detracts from escapist movies. Although, everyone had really good teeth, and the heroine had extremely well maintained eyebrows. The plot was great, please follow along.
1. Boy sees girl.
2. Boy falls for girl.
3. Timeslip.
4. Boy is awarded girl for task completed.
5. Boy loses girl when he admits he failed to complete said task.
6. Girl is kidnapped.
7. Boy chases.
8. Boy frees girl, but then she is recaptured.
9. Boy chases, gains allies.
10. Boy leads ragtag army to overthrow huge organized army, and manages to do so, overthrowing an empire.
11. Girl gets killed in action.
12. Girl is miraculously alive.
13. Boy and girl return home, accompanied by dramatic and heart-swelling music.

Scenery was amazing. CGI much more so. It was crappy spending more in 2 hours than I spend on a month for Netflix, but this needs to be seen on the big screen. One shot is of the hero mourning the loss of an "uncle" figure. His forearm takes up the entire lower half of the screen. That was a huge arm! Anyhow, go see it, preferably matinee. It's sort of a romance, but laidback-style.

Heh. I knew being lazy about ebaying my collection would pay off. I've got Dragon box Basic D&D, the old books, modules, and a couple of supplements from the 70's.

And I agree about the Dragon slide. I stopped subscribing at issue 110ish, and felt it had stopped being good even earlier.

Because I don't. I sometimes even say "good morning" when the morning just sucks.

Ignorance doesn't necessarily mean lack of belief. It just implies that the reasoning that arrived to that belief has been ruled as faulty. Remember, I'm commenting on the origin of the phrases, and you are simply in a foul mood.
