Hah!
By touching me inappropriately, Dikiyoba has sent me, Sonic-style, to the end of the line with bounceback to Notting Hill Gate. I hop to green, as the orange is scary.

Mind the overpriced actor.

How is your life going to improve by me answering this question? Eh, not my concern.

Edit- Never mind. Sorry your life has been so difficult.

The Montpellier Council didn't meet in '67 due to the hurricane knocking over the orange grove. You must be thinking of the Monte San Savino conference, as that is where they repaired to after the storm. But FYI, the only thing they agreed upon that year was what to order for elevenses.

Who posited that democracy was the final step in the evolution of governance? It seems, rather, to be an introductory step. It should be teaching cultures the basics does/don'ts of how to run an entity, so that they can evolve into a more progressive form.

For example, with technology as it is today, our current system of checks and balances could easily be replaced with instant recall balloting. Just log in to Intarnit and call out the leadership. Duel through the blogosphere. Of course for this system to live up to its merits, there will be a downside to failure to demonstrate good cause.

I want to see more full frontal post deletion, if done in an appropriate and tasteful manner. Nothing shuts off a budding argument faster than absence of ammunition.

And yet his supporters persist in that age-old pursuit of negative campaigning. I'm certainly no supporter of any of the listed candidates.

Is there a reason you don't pick a random number between 10 and 40 and compare that to the party level? It seems a little simpler, and is something that could be made more general by using memory cells instead of absolutes.

There is a function that retrieves the remainder of a fraction, but I forget the call.

Bush and Kerry, although both of them were complete loons, had locked up the party core and thus made the final ticket. Same goes for Buckley (if you want to compare McCain) since the DNC has this asinine belief that vice-Presidents somehow deserve the Presidency.

The Peter principle is alive and well in America folks.

So, perhaps this is the rallying cry for a change in forum software? The finite limit on moderator status is 4 per forum. It is glaringly obvious that the position is a nod to the moderator and their status in the community, without much hope of conviction of authority. Drakefyre has essentially left because of real life contraints, stareye apparently has a huge time commitment there as well, and Vogel doesn't have the time to deal with this place.

Discussion of the failings of moderators really isn't part of the civil discussion that is allowed here, but perhaps if there were more moderators, and current moderators were willing to realize that their absence is harmful to the tenor of the forum, this place would not see the upheavals like it is currently experiencing.

Just a thought, and I come from the opposite end of the continuum as Zeviz. That may demonstrate how awful the situation has become when we agree on the extent of the problem.

Actually, I'm not changing the situation, which I think is what is expected. Instead I chose to make a point, calmly and rationally. What would have been not helpful would be a comment like this.

I am pleased that our two voices of reason have singled out Nalyd as the primary cause of unhappiness, complained about mini-modding, and complained about modding all in the same breath.

I realize there are certain things that are tolerated, and certain things not tolerated by TPTB. It seems what is currently happening is tolerated. That can be the only acceptable situation. Otherwise it would mean that this place has been abandoned by TPTB.

As long as we are all in magical la-la land, wouldn't it be nice if we had the ability to make current members disappear as well as make past members reappear? Not the ones that leave peacefully, but the ones that have offended. Because when you come right down to it, attitudes change, especially about profanity. A pointed word here or there can be a useful tool, and is certainly no less offensive than a murdered sentence or mangled word.

Perhaps we need to start a nice list of who we think should stay, who needs to come back, and who needs to leave. Then it can be typed up nice and neat and presented to whatever administrator cares to spend time on it.
