quote:No one is questioning your logic. We are questioning the scientific validity of your response to evolution. It is very logical for you to want iDesign to exist, because that would lend credibility to your religious beliefs. But whatever dude, it doesn't hurt me if you want to believe the sun orbits the earth, it just makes you seem ignorant. -------------------- Synergy, et al - "I don't get it." quote:More precisely, evolution is the process which explains how everything came to be. It looks at the present characteristics of flora/fauna and picks ancestors based on shared character. Eventually there are common ancestors which suggest a divergence. Other time it stops. Other times it expands into the past, and all we have is a single remnant in the present. But evolution is the only thing that explains all of this without worrying about implications. It is the people, like Stillness, who need to conjugate reality so that it fits with what they believe. Science, though, isn't about belief. -------------------- Synergy, et al - "I don't get it." Argon - "I'm at a loss for words..." Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

Stillness, I guess you are using the word "culture" in a different manner than me. Perhaps that is inherent in our respective outlooks. I see culture as those optional things which are more style than substance. Evolution is a real process, much like gravity, radiation, and controversy. You may see, through no inherent fault of your own, that evolution is part of that list of "optionals." But see, I'm a skeptic. I have come to accept evolution as proven, since it was repeatable, and ID as a gimmick, since it isn't even testable, never mind repeatable. That is why I don't consider it to be part of culture. -------------------- Synergy, et al - "I don't get it." Argon - "I'm at a loss for words..." quote:Not entirely true. I think a handful of people want to make a deal out of the discrepancies between science and religion, as the acknowledgment of things like evolution tends to undermine the dogma. But, by and large the American "culture"(not the right word, surely) is more interested in football, ringtones, reality TV, and food. Because honestly, I've never seen a discussion on evolution spontaneously erupt outside of a room of primate researchers. There, it happens all to frequently except that they argue about order, not ID. That would be just silly. -------------------- Synergy, et al - "I don't get it." Argon - "I'm at a loss for words..." I recommend downloading both demo files. Try Nethergate as recommended by Randomizer. It is based on an older game engine than A5, and is remarkably similar to Blades of Avernum. I've not had the opportunity to yet try A5, but how can you go wrong with a free demo? Have fun with both of them. -------------------- Synergy, et al - "I don't get it." It's horrible. And in the wrong place. Next is Chapter 1, and previous is Appearances. That is wrong. Very, very wrong. -------------------- Synergy, et al - "I don't get it." Argon - "I'm at a loss for words..." Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

I've asked Diki to take a break from writing her story so that she can more effectively concentrate on her responsibilities of loathing. Hopefully she can do so for a few more weeks, at least. -------------------- Synergy, et al - "I don't get it." Argon - "I'm at a loss for words..." Excaliber - Mr Fox was not in the same category as the rest of the former forumers. He was turned away, but for different reasons. Kel might be able to shed more light on this one, I more or less just ignored him. -------------------- Synergy, et al - "I don't get it." Argon - "I'm at a loss for words..." This brings back memories of party line phones. We were one long-one short. The house further down the lake was two shorts, and had two very nice inhabitants. That was better than this. -------------------- Synergy, et al - "I don't get it." Argon - "I'm at a loss for words..." Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

Geneforge the game should be imagined as the setting for geneforge to forum. Likewise for the other games. The Mod board had been adequately described by Diki. Tech support is basically a featureless room, much like the actual forum. General seems to be imagined as a common room as found in college dormitories or perhaps the Student Union. Outside the forums is the interwebs, which are dangerous. Stay in the forums. -------------------- Synergy, et al - "I don't get it." Argon - "I'm at a loss for words..."
