Seoth had completely finished the inner tower of his bone fortress, etched it with runes, and posted undead guards. Now a dome of bone was beginning to grow from the walls, completely covering and insulating the tower. Black runes had already begun worming themselves up it. Even the floor had a nice coating of etched bone. The god himself was currently briefing and ordering the intelligent undead. He had most of them traveling to various necromancers, most of whom were stunned to know they had a patron deity. They were all given offers of lichdom and extreme power for their services. None had yet refused. Others were wandering into random towns and battlefields, raising undead from the graveyards and leading them back to the dome. A select charismatic few were going into various sects and cults, offering them alliances and magical powers over death and weather. The undead demons were ransacking nearby towns and libraries, frantically searching for a cure for vampirism. Cassius might not be much troubled by it, but that was because he had contracted his affliction before he attained godship. Seoth, having been bitten after ascending, had contracted the full measure of being a vampire, weaknesses included. The dome completely shielded it's contents from the sun, and the interior was lit by magical means. Seoth had soaked a supply of blood from the ground and filtered it of demonic corruption before the floor was finished. "So," Seoth was in the middle of his current session of briefing, "Cassius's powers of suffering should have little effect on the undead. He's still a formidable force, mind you, but his main offensive ability is somewhat negated. The vampires are no threat, as they cannot infect bone or decaying flesh. There are still powerful mages among them, however, so we will have to be ready for that. Now, about Zelbith's suggested troop movements. . ." It would go on in that vein for several hours. Or, it would have, if the vampires hadn't tried to scry the inside of his dome. Seoth stopped in mid sentence. "Excuse me, I have a. . . meeting. Won't be long." Seoth gazed upward. His skeletal face filled the vampires' scrying bowl. "Oh, Hello, Kuberr. Consorting with vampires, are we? Trying to bring down poor old Seoth because he bested you in a deal? Bad form for a god. Barbados, you're moved up in the world, or at least my informants tell me. Head of the vampire clan and you've kicked out Cassius to boot. As you can see, being God of Deceit has it's perks. But enough rambling. Barbados, I know that you have a vampirism cure locked up somewhere. I can't compel you to reveal it, as vampires aren't really true undead. But if you don't come up with some damn good medicine soon, I'll send a tornado over your petty clan. And then I'll flood the town with undead. You have. . . Actually, no, you don't have any time. Tell me now or I'll kill you, now. Seoth began to twirl his skeletal fingers idly, in preparation for a twister. For some reason, Nalyd is reminded of George Orwell's "1984" by this topic. "It doesn't matter what really happens, what matters is what you think happens." If you saved a stranger that you thought was a loved one, then you will publicly get credit for saving a stranger. But what you experience privately depends on what you think. Nalyd would prefer not. . . The current series of random characters with (So far) little plot value doesn't seem. . . Well, Nalyd doesn't like it. But it's up to you. Oh, and Nalyd saw your PM, Ephesos. Oh, and Nalyd will soon send one to Calphrexo. Nalyd has no finals, being in 7th grade. He took the OATs (Ohio Achievement Tests) last week, though. School ends on June 4th. Oh, and since he won't be posting a celebration topic, his birthday is on May 8th. He's turning 13. But the registered BoA editor allows for a "Take party out of scenario" option, along with a "take party out of town" option. And if it counts for anything, Nalyd doesn't have BoA on this computer, which is the only one with Internet access. Lazarus couldn't get to BoA. Why, thank you, Zeviz. Here we go. He may have been off by a few levels, but still pretty high. Probably won't make any difference, though. The Deathmatch is already lost. Huh. James is apparently having romantic struggles. Anyone up for a hot sex scene? ;) But don't worry about Seoth's army and fortress. He has a plan for them, and they'll be more interesting than the demons. No offense, Safey. -------------------- May the fires of Undeath burn in your soul, and consume it. Crap. After a day of trying, Nalyd can't do it. All of his Spiderweb games are on a separate computer, which used to be his mom's but when she got a new one, she gave it to him. He uses a huge multitude of backup discs to port new scenarios from this one, which is the only one with internet access, to his, which the Spiderweb games are on. He has failed, however, in putting the registered version of BoA on this computer, so he can't get to his party, which, believe it or not, isn't in VoTDT. So you'll have to go on his word. So he's going to give up now and quietly crawl into his corner of death. -------------------- May the fires of Undeath burn in your soul, and consume it. Seoth felt a pang through his consciousness. So, then, Sliros was casting his eyes outward, was he? Interesting. He caught a whiff of contempt. The god was doubtlessly reestablishing his worshiper base. That was always Sliros' advantage. An enormous amount of worshipers. He had gleaned that from reading Ashataro's records. Without the gods' knowledge, of course. No matter. He was no threat to Seoth yet. Curing himself was the first priority. He was finished draining the blood lake. Charred skeletons littered the ground in the ruined city, most of them his zombies. They were slowly beginning to reanimate themselves around him. So were the skeletons of the former townsfolk and demons. Some of the more powerful mages were even developing into liches. It looked like a war was going to break out soon, and Seoth would be prepared. As soon as they could walk, the undead began destroying what little was left of the ruins, searching for a shard of the essence stone the mages had detonated. Seoth was raising a pedestal of magically reinforced bone out of the ground. It would serve as the foundation. Every so often, a skeleton wandered up, handed a piece of stone to Seoth, and went back to searching. He needed a whole essence stone to focus on. He needn't worry about being discovered. The land was a blighted ruin for miles around. No human, animal, or plant life had survived. Nobody would bother investigating for weeks, at least. After a day and two nights of searching, his undead had finally assembled the entire stone, and the foundation was finished. Walls now began to rise out of the bloody swamp. With the stone shards arranged in the appropriate pentagram in front of him, Seoth began to merge them together. They melted into their pure essence, and then coalesced into a blindingly white perfect orb. Seoth grasped it in his slender hand of bone, and it reddened, deepening into a hateful, suppressing corruption. A face-like thing materialized in the rock, screaming in rage. It was the very idea of a demon. Geltor would want this. He wouldn't get it. Now that Seoth wasn't infected by anything Geltor could cure, Seoth had no need to be overly friendly. Geltor would only betray him in the end, no matter what he did. It was up to Seoth to do it first. Balance was key. A stream of blood flowed up from the soggy ground, entering Seoth's thirsting mouth. It soaked directly into the fangs jutting out of the jawbone. The vampire's guild would most likely know how to deal with that. It would be an undeniable lure for their more reluctant members. "We can cure you. All you have to do is do this for us, and then this and this and this. . ." But vampires were undead, in a sense. They owed allegiance to him, even if they didn't know it. Speaking of not knowing, he remembered Sliros' search. He would try to claim his worshipers, his necromancers, thieves, and weather-worshiping savages. No matter. He might finally make his appearance to the mortals, after his fortress was finished. It was undeniable that something as overt and obvious as a fortress of bone, surrounded by undead, would be noticed by necromancers, at least. They would come. And later, an army would follow, made up of self-righteous paladins and frightened townsfolk, preaching that undead were naturally evil. They would be no threat. So far, this particular escapade had brought Seoth no gain. He had been enslaved by a vampire lord, infected by a demon, and now he was revealing himself. The Balance had even been thrown off! Seoth was angry, no doubt. The skies showed it. -------------------- May the fires of Undeath burn in your soul, and consume it. Posts: 1636 | Registered: Wednesday, January 5 2005 08:00 |

Nonsense. To surpass even level 250 in BoA, all you have to do is put one god character with a bunch of level 1s. The Editor takes their average. -------------------- May the fires of Undeath burn in your soul, and consume it. Posts: 1636 | Registered: Wednesday, January 5 2005 08:00 |

Thank you, Jewels and ET. Excellent points. But wait, this isn't a pointless post! Nalyd has something to add. Nalyd has over 30 previous saved games in BoA. He makes liberal use of the HLPM, script editing, and the Editor. As a result, his current party is level 578, equipped with better-than god weapons and armor. He also has over 9 hours of free time each day, for the hard puzzles. If it's literally impossible to beat, there's always the Editor. So take that, BoA. -------------------- May the fires of Undeath burn in your soul, and consume it. Posts: 1636 | Registered: Wednesday, January 5 2005 08:00 |

By Nalyd's definition, Undead is anything that was dead and now it isn't. Besides, if he burns the body, then it'll eventually be reduced to a living skeleton. Which is undead. EDIT- If he does lose, then he will be horribly disappointed. He was so looking forward to a fight with Ephesos. EDIT Mk.II- And if Lazarus can immediately come back from the dead with full health, then he is essentially unkillable. So he's already won. 1- Infernal. Excalibur is no match for demonslaying. 2- Delicious Vlish. They are the superior race. 3- Lord Grimm. Without him, the Silent Assassin has no outlet and explodes. 4- Thralni. Godly chickens will tear right through that dress. 5- Nalyd. Anything that comes back from the dead is classified as "Undead." And Nalyd, as their Spokesmage, controls the undead. 6- Almighty Doer. The nose grows faster than the acid can burn it off. 7- Nikki. Gotta go with the black clothes. 8- Saunders. Mother make stew. And as Stew's maker, Saunders can eat him whenever she pleases. Yay!
