Poit Warrior Member # 5274	written Monday, November 14 2005 20:38 Profile #0 Just looking back through my scenario folder I was struck by how different the aesthetic styles of each of the authors are. For instance you have scenrios like Backwater Calls and parts of Bahssikava which are "Vogelian" in terms of the design of houses and towns but influenced by the personal choices of their different authors. Then TM's scenarios which are grandiose in terms of the scale and architecture of the buildings, monuments and dungeons in each scenario. And finally scenarios such as Druids of Kell which have beautifully designed towns and outdoors which like TM's show the potential of the editor. If you do immerse yourself too deeply in this and suffer writers block it can be a pain to get over. What I'm saying is that setting yourself word targets to achieve in a day and then forcing yourself to complete them may appear to be efficient at first but over an extended period of time you may find yourself loosing interest in the story as it becomes more like duty than recreation. A4 - The New Geneforge? in Avernum 4
Poit Warrior Member # 5274	written Monday, November 14 2005 20:17 Profile #1 I've always been a big fan of the Exile and Avernum engines but realistically I think they've going to die a slow death as they get bypassed by the engine advances in Avernum 4. Realistically they'res almost zero chance of an Exile 4 ever being produced. As Spiderweb is run for profit I can't see them artificially prolonging the life of an outdated game engine just for nostalgic reasons. Also bear in mind that no matter how many people post here and say they would buy it if released, we are only a small slice of dedicated Spiderweb gamers and our opinions don't count for much in particular. Mainly as we're the type of "loyal" fans who will buy Spiderweb products regardless of content.
